currently sighting in the streets of Kherson.

I actually think that the Kherson footage is either

a) PR (Kadyrov's tiktok troops)

b) staged to try to convince the vatniks all is not lost (it's.... lost)

c) russian factions fighting each other (not the first time that would have happened

Ukraine seems to be following the starve/wear them out strategy on Xerson

Ukraine seems to be following the starve/wear them out strategy on Xerson

As long as it works.

We've probably seen the same footage, the one in the street that's doing the rounds on Twitter. I've a feeling the orcs will fight like hell there since once Kherson is liberated, Crimea and their Orc Sea Fleet are within range of HIMARs.

it's.... lost

The most reliable maps show that Kherson is well on the way to being encircled and that Ukrainian partisans are busy in the occupied areas. The next month or so will be key. A lot of orcs are just fleeing, and it does look as if the Ukrainian estimates of orc casualties that some said were very exaggerated might actually be accurate.

I think you are right.
The Russians are losing this war.....

Only at a gunpoint from counter-retreat units behind their backs.

Maybe, maybe not.The Russians have very little morale left and events and deaths back in Russia are increasingly pointing towards an uprising against Putin.

The Russians have very little morale left

I hope this is right. Ukraine has been sending automatic test messages to the orcs urging them to surrender. They're village lads who won't see the foreign news, however it's gratifying that there are reports about Putler's support falling away.

As morale drops, you could very well be right and that morale among troops hits rock bottom. Pighozin's plan to revruit convicts is a non-starter and if teh reports of forced conscription are true, it's just a matter of time before r*SSia collapses.

I think that time is coming, maybe next spring or summer.
The Russians will lose this war and will suffer for it for years to come.

A Polish reply to a Ukrainian post under a vid about Polish artillery donated to Ukraine:

Don't thank us for the guns. We thank you for all the lives you put on the altar of freedom. Heroes will not be forgotten. Glory to Ukraine!

So true.

The question - in the face of all their recent defeats - is:

Can Russian army still be considered the 2nd army of the 3rd world?

jon357
18 Sep 2022  #2771

They're certainly only the second best aren't in Ukraine, and might get some shocks from Azerbejdżan who they've been trying to intimidate for decades on behalf of their puppet Armenia.

GefreiterKania

This entire CSTO (Collective Security Treaty Organization) thing is a joke. Russia is on the best way to losing a proxy war against Turkey. Actually, not even losing but being afraid to help their Armenian allies at all. The extent of Russia's fall is staggering - even the likes of Azerbadijan no longer hesitate to f*ck with them.

I wonder what it would take for Putinescu to finally admit deafeat. Or maybe he will live in denial until he ends up like his Romanian predecessor.

@GefreiterKania
Russia has no more weapons to sell to Armenia or anyone else. They are taking weapons back from Syria to Ukraine. The Russian army is a dumpster fire. They have lots of old stupid munitions in storage, but how far are they willing to dig? After time, munitions become unstable for transport let alone use.

Putin will look for peace talks soon. He will use the China and India pressure as an excuse and then say he got rid of the Nazi groups and now with a neutral Ukraine there can be peace. The problem for him now though is Ukraine wants Crimea back and Ukraine knows it is within their reach to get it now. Once Kherson falls, Crimea will fall much more quickly. Everyone has left, and there are already insurgent groups working there. Everything depend on how quickly they can get Kherson and if they can hold current gains.

Meanwhile.... russia is reverting a medieval military order... in the 21st century... I knew russia was primitive and behind the developed world, but this is ridiculous....

Russian arms sales are plummeting all over Asia - countries like India and Vietnam are looking down the backs of their sofas for receipts now they have seen the Russian junk in action.

After the war is over Russia will love Ukraine, having been b*itch-slapped by them and shown their place. Wanna be respected by Russia? You have to beat them like a dog, then they will come back with their tails wagging.

After the war is over Russia will love Ukraine

But Russia already loves Ukraine. The problem is Ukraine doesn't want to return the feeling.

A typical case of "willst Du nicht mein Bruder sein, so schlag' ich Dir den Schädel ein". *rolls eyes*

So true.

Not really. They don't fight for us but for themselves. The fact that their fight is in our interest has nothing to do with it. There need to be calculation made what and what not Poland can afford to spend to help them.

Nobody is making such calculations.

He who lives by the sword, dies by the sword. Too bad that the queen dropped the spoon before she could hang the medal on him. I'd kill myself if that drooly rascal Charles would award me, even posthumously.

I'm kidding, who the hell is he who went there to stick his nose where it doesn't belong. :)

That was after mom let him out of the basement and he was caught watching gay ****. But how can we blame him? Every Russian military person seems to be gay, or have gay tendencies. I suspect this is his real issue. Maybe a Ukrainian man dumped him or beat him up at some point.

There are only one or two of these retards who like to talk about the deaths. Even Bobko and others dont try to glorify those thing too often. That said, while one Brit died, a few hundred more Orc's got roasted.

We might ask the r*SSian orcs that.

The Ukrainian defenders certainly are. Asking them with weapons, tactics and fortitude.

Can Russian army still be considered the 2nd army of the 3rd world?

Can any other nation state prosecute a large war against a coalition of developed states AND a smaller war against terrorists (Syria) - at the same time?

I presume China is the formerly acknowledged number 3, or is it Saudi Arabia or India? Do you consider them to have been elevated to number 2 now?

Can any other nation state prosecute a large war

Sure, any nation can do that. The key question is, can they do this succesfully? Anybody can start and loose a war, fewer can win one.

r*SSia certainly can't, since they're losing badly.

I presume

Trying to deflect from the war crimes committed at Izyum? The castrated corpses with hands bound behind their backs?

Bucha seemed a nightmare. Izyum looks to be worse. What other atrocities have they committed?

Well Ukraine is definitely above Russia in the rankings. China and India too, plus lots of more advanced countries like Poland, Romania, Turkey and Czech. Honestly I don't think Russia makes the top 20.

Quoting expenditure is nonsense because most of it ends up in Cyprus bank accounts

Bobko
18 Sep 2022  #2790

The key question is, can they do this succesfully?

I think we can, but it's just my opinion. There is a Russian expression: Russians are slow to harness, but quick to ride. It seems that whatever we do, we need a couple big knocks on our head before we begin to treat the matter at hand seriously. Nothing ever works well from the start, for us.

In WW2 we had our ass handed to us by the Germans, before we realized it was a fight for our life.

In Chechnya we got embarrassed by a small population of separatists, before we collectively agreed that it could not be allowed to continue.

In Syria we thought we could wage a Western-style war from above, before a series of serious setbacks convinced our leadership we would need boots on the ground to secure Assad's rule.

Now in Ukraine, the venality and incompetence of our military leadership has made it clear to everyone that a serious shakeup is warranted.

Bottom line: Russia always saves itself when it is one inch before the abyss. It's a historical axiom. Things have to get much worse, before they can become better.
