Depends on your objective....Ukraine is a proxy war for the new world order....Nato/West against Russia/China....you don't want a destroyed dead territory but an asset, new allies, enrichment, enlargement, that kind of thing.

Most wars have two phases: campaign and occupation. To succeed, the first phase must be fast and brutal to make them fold. Occupation can be tolerable for a long time if tempered. See France.

My point is that if the US can manage to organize a revolution to go from A to B, Putin should be able to convince Ukraine to go from B to A without much bloodshed.
