That, actually, wouldn't be civilised. When someone is already defeated (because I assume that's the situation you're talking about), you don't kick him when he's already on the ground. You show magnanimity and kind heart when violence is no longer required. You display your warmth and kind smile and make them wonder how on earth they failed to fall in love with you in the first place. That's what Poland did to our Tatars, who once came in a huge horde to conquer us (we even called our uhlans with a Mongol word :)).
That's the Slavic way. We don't humiliate, torture or murder those whose lives are at our mercy. We are not some f*cking islamists or nazis.
See, that's why you need Poles (and Serbs) - to remind you what being a Slav is all about. :)
Because then they would be bad guys too
When it comes to the lives of your loved ones, and when you were attacked first and you're defending yourself, then you are not the bad guy. The time for savoir-vivre and generosity will come after the enemy is defeated (see above).
