@jon357
Actually Jon I have. Five trips to islamic countries in the middle east, not the quasi islamic ones like Albania or in Africa. As a man in those areas, I was fine and felt perfectly safe in public places. Females though, thats a different story.

Soviet Russia attacked and seized Finnish territories.

First exchange was offered, lands in nearest vicinity (within artillery hitting range) of Saint Petersburg (Leningrad) to a larger territories in Karelia. But offer was rejected.

PS, Torq, read this...

Lol, another Russian apologist. Do you have Russian or Serbian genes?

We all know, giving Russia what they want will just end giving them your sovereignty. It happened to Ukraine, it happened to Baltic states. It would have happened to Finland if they did not fight.

I'm not "another", I'm the same, entertaining your swamp for last decade... ;) I know that inter-ear ganglion of some PF writers have limited cognitive capabilities, but look at temporary username one more time. ;)

A reader's comment:

Cowards in Ukraine are not brave enough to admit defeat. It is not dishonored to admit defeat. Dishonored is to let more and more countrymen die for nothing.

That damn Z-P=0...

are not brave enough to admit defeat.

Same as Hitler's last days.... I don't remember the exact phrase, but close to "if the Germans can't win, they should become extinct"....

Fight to the last German. Fight to the last Ukrainian. How about a fight to end fvcking stupid statements by stupid leaders? Or, every stupid leader making these stipid statements actually has to pick up a weapon and fight in order to qualify to make the statement?

Fight to the last US dollar.

Five trips to islamic countries in the middle east

That's not actually that much. I've made 50+ trips to Dubai alone.

We're talking about a huge swathe of the world, from Indonesia right through to west Africa and the differences are huge.

Women tend to be very safe in the Middle East; the tribal and family structure means that men have to behave themselves around women.

Women tend to be very safe in the Middle East;

...except for the Jewish ones...Those can be raped and killed - just in case they got pregnant...

@jon357
You want to compare Dubai to Kuwait, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, and Yemen? WTF are you smoking? Dubai is a cakewalk for any western traveler, its safety is guaranteed by its wealth. Dubai will be changing though as they run out of oil in the next ten years. Dubai is a vacation center, not a hotbed of hard core Islamists. The African nations are not part of the islamic extreme culture for the most part, and are not commonly refered to in the context of middle eastern Islam. You want to take an exception and use it to be the rule. When you walk into Jordan, you arent walking into Dubai.

Been to most of those too, a couple of them many times...

Dubai will be changing though as they run out of oil

Did you think they have much oil? One of their key reasons for developing as they have is that they have very little compared to their neighbours.

When you walk into Jordan

You can't walk into Jordan any more. Travel to the Allenby Bridge has changed due to recent security concerns and the south crossing has no easy pedestrian facilities.

islamic extreme culture

No, you don't know the MENA region, do you...

You're talking about excess winter deaths rather than people "freezing to death".

PolAmKrakow
23 Jan 2024  #346

@jon357
I am well aware of the MENA region. The vast majority of which is not extremist. When I said walk into Jordan it was figurative. Thanks for the geography lesson though. Just because many islam countries are not extremist, does not white wash away the extreme culture in the middle east specifically. Congratulations on your travels, but your opinion wont change what my eyes have seen.

Meanwhile sleepy Joe still hasnt done $hit for Ukraine and only because he refuses to stop using massive parole orders for illegal immigrants. All that sleepy senile fvcktard has to do is make the deal and he refuses. Thats the president all the leftist socialists have been praising. A fvcking disgrace.

jon357
23 Jan 2024  #347

I am well aware of the MENA region.

Perhaps not so well-aware.

not extremist...the extreme culture

That really is a gross over-simplification, especially since as somebody "well-aware' you doubtless follow the current issues around Madkhalism and how it relates to your country's longstanding foreign policies and russia's involvement in the region.

Congratulations on your travels

Thanks; although many years of involvement throughout the region is not really 'travels'.

The region is a key issue in the conflict for several very obvious reasons; one of which being Lavrov's attempts to stifle production (supported by KSA) which have rebounded on him. Production in some parts of the MENA region has never been higher.

I'm still giggling at your phrase:

Dubai will be changing though as they run out of oil

Did you really think there's significant oil reserves in Dubai? They have slightly less than Belize and slightly more than Taiwan.
:-D

And republican (Trump) SCOTUS appointee casts the deciding vote to keep the border open..... quelle surprise.....

PolAmKrakow
23 Jan 2024  #349

@jon357
No I didnt think they had signifigant reserves which is why I said running out. Really your attempts to flatter yourself and oneupmanship are pitiful. Carry on with your travels in Africa though.

@mafketis
Step away from the bong. SCOTUS cannot get involved in any legistlation at the voting level and may only get involved when suit is brought to their chamber. No one, except the Biden socialist scum wants the borders kept open. Not to worry though, sleepy Joe will go down in history as the president who promised Ukraine he would never abandon them, and instead he does just that in order to keep illegal aliens flowing through in a attempt to influence the minority vote. That Maf is the definition of a traitor. President Biden is knowingly allowing the laws of the United States to be broken which makes him an accomplice to criminal acts just as much as Trump is. Permission to cut razor wire is not permission to open the border. Texas is still arresting illegals crossing.

jon357

No I didnt think they had signifigant reserves which is why I said running out

As an attempt to dig yourself out of a hole, that's roughly on the same level of a comment from a woman with laddered leggings, a black bra and white blouse and 'tramp-stamp' tattoos who's just been caught walking out of Blockbuster video with a copy of Terminator 2 stuffed down her stained knickers.

travels

I'd quite fancy 'travels'.

The region, as I've said, is key to the disturbing global events right now; it's not going in rusia's favour at the moment, and the global west is both breathing a sigh of temporary relief as well as furiously trying to analyse some key shifts in power.

illegal aliens

Right now russia is the issue; not your personal view about borders or your tawdry rants about 'scum'.

quelle surprise.....

They'd have soooooo much less to rile up their low-information supporters with if they'd solved a crisis they whipped up themselves.

Ironside

to rile up their low-information supporters

Holy Grail, are you calling PolAmK plebs? lol! That is too funny!

And republican (Trump)

Well, be it as it may, Trump himself as a president of the US is a good thing happening to the country.

PolAmKrakow
23 Jan 2024  #352

@jon357
Russia is the issue. And Ukraine gets the majority of its funding from the United States, so if Ukraine wants that funding, they would encorage sleepy Joe to stop being so stupid and stop breaking the law himself. Crazy I know that we would expect a president who accussed another president of breaking the law to actually follow and uphold the law himself. Even crazier is that Congress has to force sleepy Joe to do it at the expense of Ukraine. Now what does that say about just how much sleepy Joe cares about Ukraine that he would put his own interests before Ukraines?

Just calling out facts. When feelings over rule facts, you have chaos. Exactly what the leftists socialist agenda needs in order to keep people from actually seeing how it is destroying the world. 150 private jets per day flying into Davos to try to mandate a carbon tax on the world says everything you need to know about the leftist scum.

jon357
23 Jan 2024  #353

United States

As you say ad nauseam, as well as pointing out what we see on the news that funding is being held up by right wingers on a pretext about domestic issues in an election year.

With such an unreliable partner, it's time perhaps for Europe and key allies to ditch them and forge ahead without. There are clear signs that this is happening and that long term plans are being made.

Sadly, your second paragraph is start to finish bile and internet woo, expressed in an intemperate manner.

It is always better (and less boringly repetitive) when cool heads prevail.

PolAmKrakow
23 Jan 2024  #354

@jon357
No Jon, you are the emotional misfit who always has to comment on my comments. Please ignore me and save all the posts.

The facts are simple. Biden has been given a simple list by the Republicans and as soon as he agrees, which means him enforcing the laws of the US, then Ukraine will get all the weapons they need. Simple solution, yet Biden refuses to make the deal. He was warned months before that this was going to be the position and Biden then tied Ukraine, and Israel funding to the border, not the republicans.

Sadly my other paragaphs again express facts as reported even on MSNBC. Sadly it is leftist socialists that support these scumbag elites.

Meanwhile, more people on both sides of the war have died. For nothing.

I read that one too.
Here is this mornings: Quoting
This morning, on January 23, Poland sent its aviation into the sky amid Russia missile attack on Ukraine, according to the Operational Command of the Armed Forces of Poland.

"We report that there is intensive activity of the Russian Federation's long-range aviation, which is intended to strike the territory of Ukraine. All necessary procedures to ensure the safety of Polish airspace have been initiated, and the situation is being monitored on a constant basis," the statement said.

It was noted that the aviation of Poland and its allies were activated.
Residents of Poland, especially in the southeast, have been warned of an increase in noise levels.

comment on my comments

Only the crazy ones.

The facts are simple. We're going into a time of huge change; nobody can accurately predict how things will turn out, where the balance of power will be in a couple of decades and how bad the journey will be.

If one country has set itself up as a superpower, it needs to behave like one and not allow that role to be destroyed by internal dissent and short term thinking abusing the political process.

A China/russia axis is incredibly dangerous. We've seen atrocities from russia almost on Poland's borders since people here have been pointlessly discussing the invasion.

Over in your country it already looks like the last days of the Roman Empire. Here in Europe and Middle East we need to factor unreliable support from there into our response to the crisis and our planning for the future l.

In 'Recessional' Kipling warned people in your country that power brings responsibility. It also brings wealth, something that evaporates in a flash when hegemony goes. If you all want to become isolated, you will find quickly that isolation politically also isolates you from income and power. Nothing lasts for ever.

It's boring that whenever people look at this thread there's just rants about politicians in a country that doesn't border Poland and Ukraine. There's already a thread about that country.

There's too much going on in Ukraine now to want to read about MAGA fantasies here as well as in the thread that exists for that.

Novichok
23 Jan 2024  #357

There's already a thread about that country.

That country keeps you safer. Without that country, you would need diapers.

jon357
23 Jan 2024  #358

Yes, and there's a thread about them.

Not that their position in the world is likely to keep even themselves very safe in the future.

Some interesting anti-Moscow protests in r*SSia today; may they continue and thrive.

Novichok
