Poland`s aid to Ukraine if Russia invades - part 9

Tacitus

Speaking of jokes, there are now incoming reports that Russia has lost yet another ship in a war against a country with no navy, the Corvette Ivanovets.

Bravo, Velund

Yes, I must admit that was funny and to the point. :)

Imagine if we had two Ukrainians like Veli and Bobi with us. The verbal fencing would be a delight!

Russia has lost yet another ship in a war against a country with no navy,

This war has revealed how obsolete WW2 stuff is. When a $10k rocket can destroy a 10 million-dollar tank the days of tanks are numbered.
The same with ships.
This leaves only three ways to win modern wars: by killing as many enemy troops as possible (Ukraine) or by inflicting unbearable pain on the civilians (Gaza).

The third way: by killing the king (Z).

Tacitus

Russia is trying all 3, but has so failed to defeat the Ukrainian army, break the Ukrainian by targeting civilian infrastructure and various atrocities and their kill teams in Kiev have been eliminated within days after the war started.

Russia is trying all 3,

You are lying.

Russia is doing everything possible to minimize Ukrainian civilian casualties. In 2 years, 10,000 in Ukraine. In 3 months - 25,000 in Gaza. Duh!

Ukraine now getting 54 billion dollars in aid from EU. All the more reason for Republicans to force Biden to close the border before getting anything more from the US. The EU just did Trump a favor after nearly all of them say they dont want him elected again. This could force congress to sit on aid for Ukraine for months.

Orban has thrown his cards in and is no longer blocking EU aid to our democratic brothers in Ukraine

What a time-wasting loser he is. I'm sure at some point the Hungarians will get tired of their faltering economy and bin him. Then there will be 10 years worth of repairing democracy, just like we are doing here in Poland after JK and Adrian

force Biden to close the border

He is committing treason in the first degree.
He swore an oath to protect American citizens as his first job as president and he is doing just the opposite.
Treason is punishable by hanging.
Ukraine should not be used as a political bargaining chip for Americans safety.
biden has let millions of fighting age terrorists into our country and has no idea where they are at or how or when they are going to attack us.

I couldn't picture Ukraine or Russia letting millions of undocumented men of fighting age into their countries to roam freely.

All the more reason for Republicans to force Biden to close the border

Bolsheviks want a compromise - 5000 of illegal scum a day.
By saying this, these morons admitted that (1) they are dishonest since nobody will be able to count, (2) the invasion can be stopped at 5001, and (3) the US in not required under the asylum laws to take all that garbage in.

My fear is that the fvcking RINOs will blink and agree to that crap - just like naive Reagan did way back - give Biden his war money and get the middle finger plus 15,000 refugees a day anyway in return.

Memo to Mitch: Please die, a-hole.

Poland should have a politician like him. Take care of his country first.

We have one who in addition disappointed David Rockefeller, so much so he even said he was the first politician he couldn't buy. The whole Western establishment shat bricks over that. Are you ready for something like that?

His country has the highest inflation in the EU and he has turned it into an economic backwater. Once as rich as Poland and Czech their citizens have been left behind and will be overtaken by Romania in the next few years

I don't buy it. He wouldn't be supported by the majority of Hungarians if that was the case.

Poland is not rich.========

The West stole $300B of it.

On the second though aren't most of it assent of Russian oligarchic spiders? So Russia wouldn't see it anyway.

Like PiS he is supported by the old and the easily bribed. Plus he gave the vote to ethnic Hungarians living in poor countries like Serbia. But the inflation has gone haywire since the last election and the country has become un investable since he started random nationalizations.

He probably would win an election tomorrow but doesn't mean he is doing his country good

Ironside

But the inflation has gone haywire

Inflation is everywhere in Poland too.

Not sure he is supported by a majority.... I've been told he created an electoral system (so that regions not individual votes count) and gerrymandered the country so he needs well less than 40% of the vote to maintain power..... he just has to keep certain constituencies in certain regions happy.

... thank you, Velund, you made me smile today. This forum would be unbearable without small things like this. :)

Hungary had the worst inflation in the EU by a long distance

Next worse - guess who, Kaczynski's Poland

These two old fools have lots in common including a core economic policy of throwing money at villagers

Poland should have a politician like him. Take care of his country first.

Lol, Ironside, you're so dumb it's sometimes hilarious, sometimes painful to watch.

Orban wants to be a dictator, like Putin or Xi. He's also very corrupt. The problem is, he leads a country in Europe, member of NATO and the EU. Both organizations (EU more, NATO less, but still) don't look kindly to autocrats who abolish free media, tamper with election results and massively embezzle state funds.

So he strengthenes some ties with Russia and China to show the West he has alternatives. Of course, in reality he does not, trade between Hungary and Russia/China is only a small percentage of trade Hungary has with EU. German investments alone in Hungary are larger than Russia and China's altogether. Like every politician with a drop of realism he knows Hungary won't be successful without cooperation with the West. That's why the sole purpose of his romance with eastern dictatorships is to strengthen his bargaining position within the EU and US.

Orban wants to be a dictator,

Hey, you can read his dreams and deepest thoughts. Are you a dream seer?

Eastern dictatorships is to strengthen his bargaining position within the EU and US.

That one, classing, good, and that is what every politician should do.

cms neuf
1 Feb 2024  #598

As I said - Udmurtian views now remarkably similar to the Nazis

But it's an inconvenient fact that Udmurtian commanders rape young recruits at the front and pimp them out in return for Johnny Walker or Bacardi that can be bought for 70 zloty in any Polish supermarket

Korvinus
1 Feb 2024  #599

Are you a dream seer?

Needless to say, you have no idea what you're talking about :-D

Orban's anti-democratic policies are well known: liquidation of almost all opposition media, rampant cronyism in nominations to all posts, including theoretically independent institutions like the judiciary, corruption and embezzlement of EU funds to create a new oligarchy fully dependent on the ruling party.

mafketis

: liquidation of almost all opposition media, rampant cronyism

At an international meeting several months ago, some Hungarians also pointed out starving most of the budget (like teacher salaries causing shortages in schools) while at the same time buying stuff for massive amounts of money (and then 'privatizing' it)....

He's a disaster but he's convinced enough of the electorate that they can't survive without him that he'll be hard to topple...

Also, some Hungarians seem to share an uncharming feature with some Poles of enjoying nastiness and confrontation for their own sake...

He's not only dismissive of Ukraine borders but has also questioned Romania's borders (in public saying he didn't recognize them) and referred to Slovakia as a 'breakaway' Hungarian province... that kind of nastiness plays well with some Hungarians....
