I did find a source in russian that doesn't make me want to jab knitting needles in my ears like those on russian tv do... it's a russian language Ukrainina tv channel. Much warmer sound and much less nasal whine...

I may end up learning to understand russian from listening to it... or maybe not...

If you know Polish, and can understand Ukrainian, then Russian is already within reach. I can say this, because for me it was simply the reverse trajectory.


The nasal whine is a trademark of Moscow inhabitants. The rest of the country hates the nasal whine as well. Kind of like California Valley Girl talk.

The most pleasing accent is probably from
Novosibirsk (basically a city of professors), and St. Petersburg.

An accent arguably more annoying than Moscow's, is the so called "Kubanoid" accent. That is, that of people from the historic Kuban region (Krasnodar and down). They talk pretty much like their Ukrainian neighbors. Like drunk peasants.

In somewhat of a delayed response, Zelensky this week fired Aleksey Danilov (head of the national security council), because of his jokes about a Chinese diplomat's surname (Hui).

Even Israel, does not want to be grouped in the same bunch as Ukraine - when it comes to global outreach - recognizing how toxic Ukraine has become.

So... you may continue thinking Zelensky is God's gift to planet Earth, but that will not change that his appearances before the US House of Representatives and other very important fora are being cancelled or indefinitely postponed.

Nobody has the patience to listen to this guy anymore, and you cannot blame Russian propaganda for this.
