Astounding how much people seem to care now how Germany satisfies it's energy needs...in all these last decades it never interested anybody....awesome! :)

Not even as two Germany's stood at the border ready pointing their armies at each other, ready to kill each other off...yeah even then Russia supplied it's enemy with gas then.

Russia has been proven as an ultra reliable deliverer, the US under Trump is not even an trustworthy ally anymore, so please shut it. Your sudden concern is ridiculous!

Germany speaking here..

Thanks Germany.

that Trump is in the pocket of Putin

Just the opposite silly.
Russia would have the most to lose if Germany cut Russia off as their gas supplier.
So how would that put Trump in Putin's pocket ? lol
I think uncle Putin would be VERY upset with Trump if Germany started using the United States as one of Germany's suppliers of gas.

THINK my man Think !

Germany is not reliable on Russia

Russia has been proven as an ultra reliable deliverer

Sounds like I have you Germs confused a tad bit. lol
When you buy 70% of something from someone else then that someone would be called a 'reliable' source.

Trump is not even an trustworthy ally anymore, so please shut it.

Am I embarrassing you with the facts ?
All Trump is saying is pony up your fare share to NATO and quit mooching off the United States for your military protection or hit the road toad.

And WHO is not a trustworthy allie by boosting a potential enemies economy by 34 billion euros per year ???? lol
Should I shut up now or do you want to go round two ?

How so? Not the quantity of the gas decides about reliability but if the other side fulfills his part of delivery, no matter what!

Am I embarrassing you with the facts ?

The facts that Trump is single handedly destroying the old world order, the world trade, the NATO?

The US under Trump have become an unreliable wild card, it's time for Europe to look elsewhere for leadership and support.

Bratwurst Boy

...someone who doesn't want Germany to build up an army and go to war again, someone who prefers it's cash instead, heh:)

it's time for Europe to look elsewhere for leadership and support.

I will have to agree with you on that as Merkel has really destroyed the E.U.
Her approval rating is not even 50% in Germany.
The U.K. was smart enough to get out while the getting was good.
Instead of looking elsewhere for free 'support' just start paying your own way into NATO and we will support each other as it should be.

The days of having your cake, ice cream and eating it too are over.
The E.U. economy is a telling tail of that now isn't it.
You can't have it both ways is what Trump has just pointed out to the old girl.

Western Europe has been declining for a while and the tariffs will hurt germany France etc all the exporters far more than it will hurt the us. Germany should have never been allowed to build nord stream buy tens of billions in Russian gas and then us pays for the vast majority of NATO which protects them. Atleast Trump has the balls and will to call em out publically, go in there and kick some ass and renegotiate terrible deals..

johnny reb
12 Jul 2018  #398

Exactly Dirk and yet all you hear from the E.U. is what a horrible person Trump is when in reality he is one of the best Presidents America has ever know by making America First as any great leader would for his/her country.

He is only being fair and not unreasonable.
The good old days are over for the E.U. and the people are starting to feel it.
And the sad news is that it is going to get a whole lot worse for the E.U. before it starts getting better.
The turning point will be when they accept the fact that Socialism does not work.

Our Leader remarked the other day, "Germany is totally controlled by Russia!" aka Putin.

Hmmm, wonder what could have led him to such a conclusionLOL

Now I am going to break ranks and go with Germany. Germany has the same right to MGGA as we do to MAGA. If the US Congress cannot get over Crimea and Ukraine that's America's problem. The US playing world cop for free, individually and as part of NATO, that's our problem, too. Germany does not have a gun to our head to make sure we stay there and play their body guard. We are free to leave and negotiate America-first kind of bilateral deals that would actually be profitable to the US. If that would make the US a gun for hire, it sure would be better than being a gun with no brain, which is what the US is now.

If they are laughing at us it's not because the US "has no friends". That's Reader Digest's talk. It's because we do voluntarily what no other country does: spending itself into bankruptcy by spending money we don't have to protect others. There is a simple rule in life: if you are the only one doing it, it's very likely that you are the village idiot.

You, of course, is editorial. Dirk is a good guy here, so no offense meant.

Germany has the same right to MGGA as we do to MAGA.

Thanks....and I really think Germany is already well off for quite some time now.

Definitely in the world Top 10, maybe Top 5 or even 3.

Maybe that means our leadership didn't do that many things that wrong...maybe that's the
reason most Germans neither want nor need a revolutionary leader like Trump...they are quite
okay with their lot in life....maybe Germany IS already "great" again?

johnny reb

Germans neither want nor need a revolutionary leader like Trump...

That's because Trump has the balls to tell Germany as long as they continue to economically support a potential enemy by buying BILLIONS of Euro's of gas from them then don't expect America to protect Germany from said potential enemy by paying only 1.2% into NATO for said protection when all Germany has to protect themselves is some rusted out old tanks that don't even run anymore.

Trump is telling Germany that you can't have it both ways anymore by having your ice cream, cake and eating it too.

Maybe that means our leadership didn't do that many things that wrong...

Maybe maybe maybe.
Maybe she obviously did as her approval ratings are way down into the 40% range with no hope of ever getting re elected.

Trump is telling Germany that you can't have it both ways anymore by having your ice cream

I just wonder why he is singling out Germany?

Germany is the second biggest contributor to NATO. The UK, which got praised by Trump recently, comes only in fourth....

Then there are the extremely important footholds in Europe like Ramstein...how much value would you put on that. The US without these strongholds would be no big far reaching tiger anymore, more like a clawless pussy!

as her approval ratings are way down into the 40% range with no hope of ever getting re elected.

Her approval ratings tanked since 2015. A majority of Germans disagrees with her refugee policies now...

But that has nothing to do with the economy (which is purring smoothly) or Russia (which Germans so totally don't feel threatened by).

He singled out Germany because as a percentage of GDP Germany contibutes less than The UK.

He singled out Germany because as a percentage of GDP Germany contibutes less than The UK.

Nah...I rather think he sees Germany as a main economical rival...all part of his MAGA campaign...otherwise nothing he does or says makes sense...

And since he fired all advisers telling him that world politics works with a totally different set of rules, he tries to lead the US like a golf resort!

Joker
14 Jul 2018  #406

I just wonder why he is singling out Germany?

Germany has been taking advantage of the kindness of it fellow NATO members along with other deadbeat countries that dont belly up.

Germany contibutes less than The UK.

And it has a much larger economy, but rather pay for refugees than its own protection or have NATO flip the bill for them.

Trump isnt taking anymore baloney from the Germans, we dont need your BMWs or crap VWs anymore! lol

Bratwurst Boy
14 Jul 2018  #407

Germany has been taking advantage of the kindness of it fellow NATO members

What advantage? Our boys dying in Afghanistan?

Most Germans think we could spend the NATO money better elsewhere anyhow...nobody hear fears invading Russians...and I've heard Poland would gladly take all your troops and centers..

we dont need your BMWs or crap VWs anymore! lol

Tell that Trump first please...his garage is full of them!

Miloslaw

Bratwurst Boy

Your boys dying in Afghanistan were not actually fighting the enemy, unlike The US and UK.

Bratwurst Boy
14 Jul 2018  #409

So they did shoot themselves just for fun on a holiday in a far away land?

You are disgusting!

Miloslaw
14 Jul 2018  #410

Of course not, they were support troops and police, all I'm trying to point out is that they were not in combat.
Don't get so upset!
Also, though numbers vary,The UK sent almost double the number of troops Germany did.
And Germany has a much larger population than the UK.
We,along with Poland and The Baltic states spend 2% of GDP on defence,Germany spends much less than 2%.
Is Germany taking the p+$$?
Of course it is!

Tacitus
14 Jul 2018  #411

This is nonsense. German troops have taken part and lead in various offensives against the Taliban.

Counterinsurgency_in_Northern_Afghanistan

There are plenty of videos that show them in firefights. German soldiers have bled and died on behalf of an ally who is now belittling their sacrifices.

Have a little respect will you, and if you make such claims at least have the decency to verify them first. A quick google search would have told you how wrong you were.

Miloslaw
14 Jul 2018  #412

Apologies,I didn't think the German army were allowed to fight. But be honest,
respond to my points about numbers and expenditure.
Germany is taking the PI$$.

14 Jul 2018  #413

I just wonder why he is singling out Germany?Germany is the second biggest contributor to NATO.

Yes but they are still only paying 1.2% of the 2.4% that they should be into NATO.
And Trump just told them that 4% would be the U.E.'s fair share in the near future.
Now listen because I am getting tired of repeating this: The United States tax payers have had a belly full of paying for military protection for the E.U. for the last 75 years.

Let that sink in this time,
Trump is telling those not paying their fair share to pony up and those who aren't feel insulted for some dumb ass reason.

Her approval ratings tanked since 2015.

Yes it sure did which will cost her the next election as now in 2018 it STILL is below 50%.
Hells bells, without the Russia Collusion Witch Hunt and the Daily Fake News by the Liberal News media that Trump has had to deal with every day HIS approval rating would be much higher then Merkel's is right now. lol

Bratwurst Boy
14 Jul 2018  #414

Trump is telling those not paying their fair share to pony up and those who aren't feel insulted for some dumb ass reason.

....more like a protection money extortionist!

I would prefer if Germany and the other EU members put their money into a common EU defense army...just to spite Trump!

Rich Mazur
14 Jul 2018  #415

That's because Trump has the balls to tell Germany

NATO "allies" can make the same argument against the US, that as long as we economically support a potential enemy, China, by buying BILLIONS of Chinese crap....we should not count on their support if China attacks the US, which is as likely as that Russia will attack Germany even with the US troops gone.

Rich Mazur
14 Jul 2018  #416

I would prefer if Germany and the other EU members put their money into a common EU defense army..

I can see how you and I are going to be friends. At least once in a while.

My sentiment exactly. There is no EU army stationed in the US. There should be no US army in the EU. It's really that simple.

Why is the US army still in the EU? Many factors. Inertia. Entrenched groups making money. The messiah complex and a sense of mission in the American masses' heads. Who knows. And all that with the Warsaw Pact nothing but dust.

Bratwurst Boy

Maybe Trump will be a blessing in disguise for Europe.

Not only militarily but mainly politically we have to learn to stand on our own feet...I just wish he could be more politely! ;)

I tried both ways and crude is often more effective as it leaves nothing to the imagination. Polite is what you do with family, friends or while sipping tea with a queen. Or when you are scared.
