The statistics that really matter are that the UK is the worlds' 5th largest economy but is down in 20th place or therabouts in terms of government spending. Obviously the UK has a large deficit because it doesn't produce a lot of what it needs, hence the imports.

The above is particularly true of Podkarpacie and east of Krakow, and that countryside has been ruined from my perspective, with the skyline jutted with housing on every raised elevation. There is nowhere where you can walk in the apparent countryside without coming across a dwelling aka a four storey house after half a kilometre. Only an opinion. I'm sure people who live there enjoy it.
