Brexit 2019 and Poland

Boris really needs to recognise the threat coming from Corbyn

I don't think for one minute he underestimates the threat he is, hence the fake Labour manifesto website and the name change of its Conservative campaign headquarters press office Twitter account, from CCHQPress to factcheckUK. I'm amazed that a political party is allowed to get away with such a dirty tricks campaign, especially given the lies and misinformation that came out during the referendum.

I've given up on British politics, it's an absolute shambles.

but I know many Scots that hate Nicola.

Enough of them like her to give her a majority there.

Quite the reverse.

You wish...

It's an election like no other before.

I am very pleased with the excellent presentations Corbyn is putting together at the moment. Electric he is not, but he IS concise and clear on their programme - whereas the Tories are not clear on how to fund their manisfesto.

Today Corbyn has pushed home the fact that under a free trade agree agreement, generic medicine prices would more than double, and the National Health Service, a non-negotiable free service, hard-won, in post war Britain, the Tories will sell off services to the Americans.

I appreciate that Labour under Corbyn cannot win the election, but a hung parliament would force a second referendum, which clearly Remain would win (which is the only reason why the Tories have consistently refused to allow people to be asked for their confirmatory vote)

Feeling very positive this morning!

which clearly Remain would win

Sounds interesting......are the polls supporting this?

Say what???

He had a nightmare interview with Andrew Neil last night!!

Andrew Neil

Watched that. Good old Andrew Neil would crucify Jesus if he interview him. That's his forte.

You are so right!
He is brilliant at what he does.

Indeed, I think he recently "destroyed" Ben Shapiro in an interview as well. The man is good at what he does.

A very aggressive interview. No surprises since Neill works mostly for Murdoch, parties with Arron Banks and has a family connection to Domininc Cummings.

I look forward to seeing the liar Johnson subjected to an equally aggressive interview (not that he'd be brave enough to take part).

Neill works mostly for Murdoch, parties with Arron Banks and has a family connection to Domininc Cummings.

That doesn't matter much.
What is important is that he knows his facts and understands them.
Which Corbyn clearly didn't.

I look forward to seeing Johnson subjected to an equally aggressive interview

Not likely.... he is not as daft as Corbyn....... LOL!!!!!

jon357

Corbyn

Hard to know, since Neill kept interrupting before he could answer any questions.

Not likely

Quite. Johnson will probably chicken out like he always does.

The BBC says they haven't yet been able to fix a date.......

Not likely.... he is not as daft as Corbyn.

I read that Corbyn only agreed to the interview because the BBC had said that Boris would definitely be doing a similar interview next week.

More dirty tricks.

Miloslaw
27 Nov 2019  #2505

True and a BBC spokesman said that no agreement had been reached.
If Boris does not do it then it seems Jeremy has fallen for more tricks of the trade.....
As you said recently, politics in the UK is not just disenchanting, it has hit rock bottom.
I have always been against it, but I think we need PR, we just can't go on like this.

jon357

More dirty tricks.

Out and out lies, sadly.

Laura Kuenseberg in particular is so one sided she probably has no reflection in the mirror.

Yeah, so left leaning.....

This is what I object to. There was enough lies about the referendum, this election campaign is a joke. No-one is being held to account for lying and the media are having a field day. Biased reporting all round.

Yeah, so left leaning.....

She gets accused by everyone of leaning a particular way, which is why I like her.

Dougpol1

No-one is being held to account for lying

The Tories have been outed for lying about:
1. The so called lifting of austerity when their manifesto doesn't demonstrate tax funding for their spending plans
2. Their Trumpian plans for the NHS.

It's just a case of how many rabid xenophobes the UK actually has on the electoral role, who will still vote Tory in the light of the above - simply "to keep the foreigners out" and "Put the 'Great' back in Great Britain".

We shall soon know the truth of it.

Miloslaw

. No-one is being held to account for lying

True to a degree, but EVERY party is guilty of it.
Which leaves a really bad taste in my mouth.

It's just a case of how many rabid xenophobes the UK actually has on the electoral role

And that is a comment that just doesn't help.
Who are these supposed xenophobes?
Have you lived in Poland so long that you have forgotten how tolerant Brits are?
Why is the Labour party anti semitic?
Doug, you have a very one sided view.
I am not a Tory, but I lean that way because of the lack of alternatives.
I see some Islamophobia in that party and feel they need to address it urgently.
I also see rabid anti semitism in the Labour party, which they are not addressing at all.

Dougpol1
27 Nov 2019  #2512

And that is a comment that just doesn't help.

Well, I spent a year searching for a house in the north of England and must have spent at least 3 weeks in total in the ole Travelodge......

I just listened to the other bods staying there, propping up the bar I was, asked them why Brexit, and just listened, nodded, as if I agreed, and said nowt. They were all xenophobic - to a man, and a woman:)

jon357
27 Nov 2019  #2513

Yeah, so left leaning.....

Are you kidding? She's a rabid Tory supporter.

We shall soon know the truth of it.

Indeed. The Electoral Commission's final figures have been released now the registration deadline's passed. Over 5 million new voters registered, more than half under 34, and more than half in Tory-held marginals.

Dougpol1

Over 5 million new voters registered, more than half under 34

Hopefully the demographics tell the story - that they do NOT want Brexit.
I would absolutely love it if Dominic Raab lost his seat - which seems a real possibility, if Esher is the same place it was when I was at uni..

Boris Johnson Set for 68-Seat Majority According to YouGov Poll

news.yahoo.com/boris-johnson-set-68-seat-221529192.html

But frankly, that's easy if your rival is crazy Corbyn....

Dougpol1
28 Nov 2019  #2516

Yes. A xenophobic right wing majority, doing untold damage to the fabric of British society, and the British have proved themselves to be too stupid to realise their mistake. IMO the UK will cease to be the wonderful country I grew up in - everything changes, but some of us want no part of it.

Looking forward to turning my back on politics and being one old selfish bastard, only thinking of myself and my local community. Like PIS, the Tories can go fukk themselves from a great height.

Bratwurst Boy
28 Nov 2019  #2517

@Dougpol1

Reminds me about the situation in the US....if the Dems don't come up with something better Trump is going to be re-elected.

What interests me is the question why the opposition doesn't come up with something better??? In both cases....it shouldn't be that difficult...

mafketis
28 Nov 2019  #2518

Ideology uber alles, including winning elections. The same is true to some extent in Poland, PiS is consistently awful, full of dishonest party hacks, but they managed to speak to a large part of the electorate that the opposition can't even pretend to care about.

Who speaks for working class German citizens in German politics?

What party or politician in Germany care about the plight of the growing precariat in Germany?

As much lying as politicians do they often can't even bother to pretend to care about large sections of the citizens they're supposed to represent....

Dougpol1
28 Nov 2019  #2519

why the opposition doesn't come up with something better

As Maf states. Labour ideology has always been a bit tedious - "We. the workers....!" It only has mass appeal when you have somebody placatory and business friendly, like Blair, or Starmer today.

People don't feel the similarly obnoxious Tory ideology, because it isn't so much in their face.

jon357
28 Nov 2019  #2520

obnoxious Tory ideology,

They're getting nastier and nastier right now. We can expect all sorts over the next couple of weeks.
