Funny thing seems like they just emptied the shelves of all types of milk fresh, UHT in Bea drunkard (Biedronka) today.

Looks like it's just gone to the next stage. Shopping malls (except for access to food shops, laundries and chemists), pubs, cafes restaurants etc closed, and much stronger controls at the borders.

I have just come home. We have been to two hypermarkets and spent our record on weekly shopping - double of usual sum. We bought all we need although fresh chicken was unavailable, even liver or hearts. Also, ginger was out of stock everywhere - I even went to our local supermarket but to no avail. Amazing - do people believe it is good for the virus?

The rumours about total closure on Monday are slowly becoming reality. Also, they say there are already dozens of deaths in hospitals in big cities but the info is withheld by medical staff to avoid panic.

Foreigners don`t have to leave. They are barred to come in.
Poles can come back on specially arranged charter flights.
However, Polish Airlines, LOT, has suspended all its regular flights as the first airline in Europe.
Yes, there will be a shut down. It will cost us billions but saving life is more important.

Tough choices will now need to be made.

What if negligent neighboring Germany sees 60 - 70% of its population infected by the coronavirus like mad cow Merkel recently admitted would be the case? This could easily and rapidly cause Poland's population to be infected and at equally high rates.

Tens of millions of Poland would be sick and dying. The economy would go into a depression. Heath and emergency services would collapse. Government coffers would quickly begin to dry up.

Let's say a mass grave costs €250,000 for 100 corpses. If a community has 90 Poles and 10 Jews who died from the coronavirus are you prepared to say that another €250,000 will need to be found to cater to just 10 members from one special interest group?

Let's say another €250,000 could be found and an antidote was also developed in time. This other €250,000 could either go towards burying 10 bodies from one self-regarding special interest group or the same amount of money could be spent on 1,000,000 vials of the antidote and save 1,000,000 precious Polish lives.

What decision would you make?

American's will be exempt from the ban and be allowed to return from the E.U. but will be quarantined for 14 days.

Foreigner and Border lockdown is racist and xenophobic but we have come to expect this from PiS dictators. it is discrimination to favour poles over foreigners and is forbbiden by United Nations conventions and EU law. As Macron and Merkel rightly point out , the virus does not have a passport and does not know borders. Open Borders Now!

I just don't understand all of these measures - shutting pubs and malls fine - we can live without it for a few weeks and I already lost a kilo through eating better.

Shutting the airport and the borders - not so sure as then it will break supply chains.

The collateral damage will be huge - closed factories and failed businesses can generate health issues and social issues for years to come.

Seems to me there is some macho thing about just shut what you can rather than invest in the medical issues.

Only logic I can see is if they are trying to slow it enough to start producing the masks, equipping the hospitals and training staff.

God thinks of us mere mortals. This is time of shutting. Stay in your houses, be loyal to your house and live. Corona is nothing but multiplied AIDS effect.

That is the result of PiS` rule since 2015. Medical care is in deplorable state. The article below explains that PiS are shutting everything down coz it is the only thing they are able to do now. The more time passes, the more we`ll see how Poland is unprepared. Thank you , PiS.

That's the strategy, slow growth enough so that the healthcare system isn't overwhelmed (as in Italy). The idea is to ride out the first wave with as low numbers as possible and hopefully get better prepared for the second wave....

That has a kind of logic but counter is that it will need money to fix and with such a huge amount of the govt income coming from VAT then restricting activity is going to cause a big cash problem.

Just been out in the car and saw some weird scenes from the 80s - queues in the cold outside butchers and drugstores, mainly old people.

Not sure what the next thing to be banned will be - Facebook for spreading panic LOL !

Sooner or later, the next big thing banned will be PiS and their rule in Poland.
