Coronavirus in Poland

They were here until a couple of days ago.

Perhaps one key difference is that everybody over a certain age here has been used to things running out, especially fresh produce.

That and flying into Mexico City and then up to San Diego and then to where ever.

The paranoia and hysteria is really escalating here in the US. The Dems want to give every citizen $1000 now, it doesnt make much sense to over react to try and score political points. Were basically all in this together. The EU should do what it can to stabilize the economy, if need be.

You should see here in Warsaw,poles are getting crazy as well.My local supermarket shelves were empty and am getting texts to stock up,freaking nuts.Good business though,more sales and most stuff will be thrown out eventually to buy again.

Profiteering, price gouging, etc. is not illegal in most states. Same as offering bribes to non-government institutions. There is nothing illegal about a private person charging whatever they want for a good or service. And even if there was, the court would have collect sufficient evidence to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that a crime was committed, and even if they did it'd result in at most a consent decree or fine.

Germany plans on shucking out BILLIONS for the industry, but also for entrepreneurs, also to offer limitless loans for everybody who needs it....also it is talked about an extra cheque for all Germans, like Hongkong just did, to keep the economy afloat...

The EU plans to set out the regular debt ceilings and also plans to infuse endangered economies with additional Billions....and there is more to come, after all if there is something Germany and the EU have enough of it's money!

People are talking about panic buying here in Poland, but I just don't see it. I am not saying it isn't happening to a certain extent, but that's not my experience.

Today I visited both Stokrotka and Dino to check if they had stock as I am a little worried.

Stokrotka had basically full shelves. It's in a shopping mall that was basically empty apart form staff and people in the supermarket. The pasta, flour, rice and sliced meat shelves were fairly bare, but basically everything was in stock. The only thing they were noticeably out of stock of was hand wash, but there was lots of soap and body wash.

Dino was quite busy, but the shelves were just as full. There were several staff restocking and there were lots of boxes in the aisles so I am not sure what it was like yesterday. The worst part was this older woman who was coughing repeatedly without even covering her mouth.

Both had toilet roll, but I bought four 24 packs just in-case (I'm joking). On toilets, I notice my dorm has lots of signs up about the virus (in Polish so not 100% sure what they say), but the men's toilet near the lobby has been out of soap and paper towels for several weeks so not sure what the point is.

I hope they don't close the borders or cancel all flights to the UK. I would rather go home than be stuck in a foreign country.

Biedronka at Galeria Młociny was empty of meat, milk, potatoes/onions, bog roll, pasta and a few other things yesterday PM.

Damn,even Canadian PM Trudeau is in self isolation for 14 days after his wife tested positive for Corona virus.Its really going bad.

Brazilian President Bolsanaro has it too. He was with Trump at the weekend shaking his hand and having dinner/ meetings with him. Several in Bolsonaro's team who were in the US have also tested positive.

A member of the UK cabinet has it also. She was at a party with Johnson and all of the other members of the cabinet last Thursday. Johnson has refused to be tested even though people can have it with no symptoms. What an idiot.

About the supermarkets being empty, I saw a Facebook post form a friend in Auchan where the queues were huge and there were empty shelves. Maybe it is sporadic and you just have to check a few stores?

There was plenty of milk, fruit and vegetables in both stores I went to today.

He's just denied it, not that he's known for truth or honesty.

COVID-19 has a high lethality rate. 10 times more than teh flu. Its extremly infectious. When you are above 65, your death rate is 25%.

If this is not battled with evrything we have, it can cause more death than WW II and WW I combined. The spanish flu caused 50 million death.

Here in Germany they do nothing to stop it. They close schools in some states in others not. Borders still not protected. If you have symptoms its almost impossible to get tested. You get send from one office to next and here it just starts.

And whats worse, we have a brain dead slug as chancellor who waited all those weeks and did nothing, just to step into camera yesterday and say empty phrases. Here some excerpts:

"Now the Virus is here. It is here indeed"
"We will try to do something and i advice people avoid traveling"
"We could not know two weeks ago, that this would happen".

Just you know...Merkel knows since first cases in China whats going on. She chosed to do nothing. Travel from China was not blocked. They not even checked passengers for fever. They placed some posters at airports. They did not cancel carnival. Most cases are now in NRW where the carnival centers are.

Because of that Germany and all EU will suffer, Poland included. Nothing will stop this from spreading into your country as well.
