No he didn't create the vaccine of course, but he should have some credit for pushing for it. The FDA, the bias media and "big tech" etc. didn't want to announce this break through a few days before the election, I mean voters might think DJT was a good president or something.

Why? Didn't he ignore, talk down, even deny the virus for the longest time? I don't remember him exactly pushing for a vaccine...rather mocking the real "pushers"!

Looks like money well spend to me. Not only because of the importance of a vaccine, but also because said company - if succesful - might become a new big player in the field, with a lot of new jobs and tax revenue as consequences.

And now they are not reporting all the 'glitches' that have been confirmed in the voting machines in favor of Biden.

In March (on Trumps watch) the HHS give almost half a billion dollars to Johnson & Johnson and Moderna and $1.2 billion to AstraZeneca. Pfizer used their own money, but struck a $1.95 billion contract with the U.S. government to provide 100 million doses. I would say a good incentive to push on.


Trump also said there would be a vaccine around the time of the election, so I don't think he ruled out the virus.

No, he just ignored the warnings he got that the virus was coming months before it arrived in the USA. Had he acted like a real leader and slammed the borders shut like he has done for immigration, the virus would have been a story along the lines of New Zealand for the USA and not the disaster it is now.

Yes, physically speaking it is not. But since closing the Mexican and Canadian borders it is in theory and in practice on an island. The country could have been closed much early nearly preventing all of this for the USA. Calling people back to USA from around the world in March was a disastrous!! Who ever gave that advice should be set on a firing line. Particularly when the strain of COVID in most cases came from Europe. No one wants to talk about that though.

And now you are making excuses for Trump. Just because others missed it doesnt mean the USA is ok to miss it. The World has been watching the death spiral of democracy under this President, and the world has watched the complete failure to lead when he could have become the greatest modern President in history. Poland at least handled it well in the spring, then they stopped. Even when they knew what was happening in the countryside, PiS did nothing. They failed to prepare, and they now look no better than Trump. Only Polands economy will take much longer to recover this time than the USA will.

Lets stop making excuses. Trump never cared or bowed down to the left. He never had to with the senate in his corner. He screwed up because his ego got in the way. He thought he knew better. The WHO is not really the leading edge of response. He got the warnings from his own people.

Joe would have made a national mask order that people would have fought. It wouldn't have worked, but it would have slowed things a bit more. Either way old people die. All the "if's" in the universe wont change the election.

The point is, Trump wont own his mistakes. That's the problem I have with him. I don't care if he is a racist, or anti gay or anything else. I care about that he is a spoiled little brat who cant admit mistakes and then throws an immature tantrum when he screws up or looses and election. Its always everyone else's fault. The point of this thread is coronavirus. And in Poland, they did nothing to prepare for what the whole world knew was coming in the summer. They had red zones in july and they did nothing. PiS failed the people. They killed their constituents, and that is what really happened on the ground, it can be seen with new grave markers in every city. The old are dying in mass numbers because PiS was focused on Policy and not People.

I entirely agree with your opinions on this....and yes this thread is about coronavirus in Poland and not USA politics..... PIS took their eye off the ball and became complacent which has now resulted in the dramatic spread of infections...a record breaking 25,000+ people infected in the last day or so....this was the figure experienced in the UK except the UK has a population of about 63 million and Poland 38 million....Now PIS are frantically backpeddling to remedy the situation but I suspect it will be too late to make any meaningful impact on things....still at least they were able to change the abortion law, which was so much more important.....!

The increase of hospitalizations and fatalities (most important metrics) seem to have started to plateau (knock on wood) still going up but at a steady rate (and hospitalization rates have fallen a day or two in the last week) - it's nothing like the exponential growth predicted everywhere...

The endpoints for the trail are very weak, and in my opinion vitamin D works much better and is already available.

You mean American media. European media on the whole tends to present a more objective and less simplistic view. All the sources I've read have urged caution about the vaccine and quoted various experts in the field who warn that the Pfizer vaccine does not mean the end of the pandemic.

Those who push it slowly and carefully are considered to be "conservative" media.

But those are private companies - they are producing content that reflects their viewers and readers political stance. You can of course start right wing channels and in the US these have been quite successful - nothing to stop you doing that in Europe. Poland has plenty of right wing TV, radio and newspapers.

@cmf neuf, yes I did help (volunteered) to create a few right-wing conservative Polish info portals. It was done with limited resources and with a team of real enthusiasts. One of them is getting some good traffic and I'm happy to see them grow.

Right-wing and Libertarian-Conservatism are both very strong in Polish-speaking internet which is reflected in strong support for Konfederacja among young voters in Poland.
