I can't imagine what kind of depression Southern Europe is facing.... tourism is often the only well-functioning part of their economies and it's all but dead and not going to be a priority for the EU...

Which, as pointed out to you several times, was a completely ineffective manouver. Trump was warned by his advisors in January that Covid was the biggest challenge of his presidency, yet he continued to downplay it for months, thereby encouraging reckless behaviour.


You can take pretty much every Western politcian - with the exception of maybe Johnson - and he or she'll compare very favourably to Trump. Though the contrast is very striking with Merkel.

I guess if countries don't want the loans they don't have to apply for them. But ultimately they will just have to borrow the money somewhere else (probably more expensive) or tax their citizens more.

That's why I will always put quotes around pandemic. So far, 15,000 died from the coronavirus here, the country of 330 million, and it's "pandemic". So it's actually much better than 99%. "Pandemic" my ass.

Did anyone see the tvn24 report on Sweden a day or so ago? At one point they said there had been a record number of deaths the day before (I want to say 97 but I'm not sure if I remember correctly).

But that was completely wrong since Sweden hasn't had that high a daily number of deaths since the first wave.... the most recent highwater mark was 33 about 10 days ago...

Where are you getting that date from? The '100 days of solidarity' would take us to the end of February/beginning of March. The EU have said they may be able to approve the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine by the end of December but of course then enough doses have to be manufactured and delivered to all those countries who've signed purchase contracts. All that will take a while. I'm pretty sure there won't be any vaccine in Poland by the middle of January, or if there is, it will be the bare minimum for the most essential situations and not widely given to the general public.

Naa It doesn't worry me , I understand a bit about RNA programming, If there is an error it will show in 20 years time, more likely in future generations born to those who were vaccinated, I'm sure the vaccine will work for me and I am too old to have to worry about the future.
