AFAIK, some municipalities/states are doing the same thing in the US. One outspoken gym owner had his bank account seized by the government when he refused to pay their fines for refusing to shut down. Thankfully, the community got together and paid his fines. He is still fighting the good fight.

It's not even so bad that governments all around the world, but especially in the US and Europe, are taking away basic freedoms, gutting the middle class, bankrupting small businesses, etc., but what's worse in my eyes is that so many people are supportive of these measures and are so scared of covid. I mean come on, this virus has a 99% survival rate...

We are truly living in very dark times and not just because of covid - that's just one of many issues.

One person I know who works for a state public health department said that they don't expect things to go back to normal till 2023.

Bill Gates discussed how he envisions a global police force with a database to distribute and administer vaccines. They'd then be able to see who had the vaccine and who hasn't.

I can't imagine this going as far as 2023 without resulting in a civil war.

It will take more than the Covid crisis to cause a civil war in Poland.

I meant the US.. especially the big cities where cost of living is astronomically high. Poland is very pocket friendly.

Remember that salaries in a lot of jobs are low here; a lot of people only just get by.

We'll be feeling the long-term effects of Covid for many years unfortunately. At least medical costs are covered here though.

We'll be feeling the imposition of Chinese Communist Party style rule (a model now adopted by how many countries?) for a lot longer....

Remember the Wuhan lockdowns came from the same political philosophy that built concentration camps for Uyghurs.... you can't take one without the other....

I didn't like the medical coverage in Poland... such long delays.. at first I thought it was some joke but it isn't. Ended up paying the doctor $1500 to get it done in 2 days instead of waiting 8 months.


That's inevitable. I expect taxes to go up everywhere. Time to leave and take some time off in a tropical island.

Unfortunately PiS are an authoritarian party. Their fearful sheep-like voters would probably relish the feeling of security that gave.

Well, the Spanish Flu took about 2-3 years before it really abated. It came in a wave, killed a bunch of people, settled down, then came a second which was even more deadly, then settled down again, and then 2 more smaller waves after that.

And today just like in the late 1910's, the government implemented social distancing, shutdowns, and mask mandates and there was a large group of people who opposed such things. Except unlike COVID, Spanish Flu didn't have a 1% mortality rate.


All bark, no bite... There's not going to be any civil war no matter how much people say "x, y, and z will result in civil war if this continues!!" with x, y and z usually being political divisiveness, increasing taxes combined with inflation, and ever increased government spending especially on programs for bums and leeches, antifa riots with blacks looting, and now more recently covid restrictions. It's not going to happen.= For one, people simply aren't organized and the ones who complain the most about it would never give up their McMansion/overpriced urban condo and late model SUV to go join some revolution.

The funny thing is that a bunch of countries use to have laws forbidding masks especially in Europe many of them being enacted over the past 2 decades. They didn't want people to obscure their faces especially during demonstrations and such. Now it's the opposite - they have laws that forbid going out without a mask.

There is merit to what you mentioned. Just today I was reading a news which said 300,000 moved out of NY for smaller, cheaper cities and that property prices are taking a hit.. that looks more like the outcome.

Few days ago Serbian President Vucic commented on TV that can`t understand level of corruption within EU, when Serbia buys USA vaccines on better prices.

Somebody in EU seams to takes money for himself. And at this moment of crisis.

To me, EU is disgusting.

I disagree. The unrest here is not just among people, it is taking hold in local governments. The courts have ruled against Sanepid fines and police in almost every instance where they have tried to impose them on business owners. Money talks and BS walks. PiS and the whole lockdown is making their most loyal followers walk away from them. When police start having family members loose everything and they start to take less action thats when it will explode in Poland.

All of Poznan open now. Police cant keep up with writing tickets. Told the same is true in Lodz, I will be there this weekend, and I had no problem getting a hotel an dinner reservations for Saturday night. Krakow more places open each day.

Polish people don't take any ****. You can't open museums and keep hotels closed.

It's the usual bluster. PiS were haemorrhaging support anyway.

A lot more police presence in the capital with all the demonstrations as well. Krakow, you can find place open without a problem now. Only place really closed up still is rynek, but a lot of non essential shops are open. Talking with business owners the patience is not going to last much longer.

Meanwhile, my neighbor who makes custom furniture and was doing very well for himself is now out of business and moving out of his flat to be with his parents. He has already sold his car and other items over the last few months to survive. This is what the lockdown will bring many more people.

Honestly I dont feel bad about your neighbor as probably him kind never saved for rainy days and lived a high life.Money is easy to make but harder to keep.

Actually driving a kia and not wearing designer clothes, putting all money into his equipment as he built his business. It is what it is. This is the state of small business in Poland. As I walk down the street and see all the places that are gone, it will take a decade for Poland to recover. All the press BS is simply smoke an mirrors.

And why did the governments pad the statistics about the hundreds of thousands of people over the age of 75 who died of natural causes and blame it on the virus ?

If the true facts were presented by the media of how many actually died from the virus it would be less then how many died of the flu virus.

Here's another fact, Virus and Disease are not the same thing. Virus can only cause disease if sufficient quantity of them is present in the body that the immunity system cannot overcome. But the COVID test aka the lab test only detects the virus regardless of its quantity which is a scam by itself.

About 3% of human body mass is made up of trillions of microorganisms.. they are a part of us.

To sum up, they are testing for a disease (Covid) using a lab test (PCR) which merely detects the presence of virus without measuring the quantity.

And don't report the average age of the victims. You have to dig and dig to get it. So far, it overlaps average mortality very nicely.

I bet that if they tested for mercury, polonium 210, and arsenic, they would find a couple of atoms of each.

Anyone notice how much they have to "dig" with the nasal swab to get enough of a sample to detect it? When I had strep throat it was a simple swab, mono, chicken pox, all those things dont require such intrusive digging in to get a sample.

I am sure everyone has been exposed by now. It is the "viral load" that makes the difference in illness or not. This is about countries not being prepared for medical emergencies. This is not about illness or vaccine. The real story is how the world medical services is completely unprepared for a real crazy pandemic. Spanish flu was so much worse than this and more than a hundred years later no one was ready. So the citizens have to pay for the unprepared governments they elect. This is beyond incompetence.

Sure, seasonal flu won't cause a revolution in Poland. People will just stop obeying stupid "pandemic measures" and will show a middle finger to "new normality" in order to save their small businesses. The government doesn't have enough beaurocrats to keep track of all of them and to bug them with "sanitary" inspections.

PS: Despite your wishes, I neither got arrested nor caught the famous flu on that rave. Over 200 people, no masks, no social distance, pure joy. That's good old normality for you.

Next time they will play alert siren and everyone must get inside their homes or risk getting fined.

There's very little of that this year, fortunately. Just the Covid pandemic which is far from finished.
