Coronavirus in Poland

It will be alright. Poland reacted on time

I think it's not going to be alright, but I do think Poland has reacted in a much more timely manner than some other countries. Hopefully it will be enough to prevent the healthcare service (hindered by neglect and/or bungling from successive governments) won't be completely overburdened....

They should be punished somehow for being the filthy pigs

Somehow you should stop calling people that way. Some of the Chinese are filthy pigs, some other are not. Likewise, some Americans are, some are not. Would you say the same thing about the Americans if the virus originated in the US? I doubt it.

Research is still going on the possible source of the virus and the latest findings suggest it was not the Wuhan province at all.

@Torq

Sit at home, people. Take it easy. Sleep well and sleep a lot. Spend time with your family. Pray, and be of good spirit

This is good advice but I would add try to get out (while you can) and get your head showered and be patient of shop workers who are extremely worried for their own safety.

There are only 20,000 "hospital grade" respirators in Poland sadly, in probability, these will all be needed.

Poland reacted on time.

Unfortunately, PiS government didn`t react on time. They should have closed the borders much earlier. Now it is too late and the virus is going to devastate Poland.

PiS government didn`t react on time.

Wot when leftie commies bleat on about viruses having no borders bla bla bla , look at leftie merkel and the state of Germistan, errm do you really think any other Polish government could have done better?

Pawo , don't let your political prejudices cloud your brain , we are in the $hite whichever the way you look at it.

Remember better dead than red.

Unfortunately, PiS government didn`t react on time.

Hard to say that any country called it right; the situation is so unexpected.

There was an anonymous UK cabinet minister quoted in the newspaper today saying the virus will have a serious effect on life until the summer and beyond, possibly for much longer.

saying the virus will have a serious effect on life

Yeah I think we agree this goes beyond politics, we have to work together , not point fingers and get through this.

we have to work together

This is the key; the alternative is potentially horrific.

Germistan

Whaaa?

Yes Germany is NOT doing enough to protect it's citizens or its neighbours, sorry it's the way I see it .

citizens or its neighbours,

With the closure of shops, I notice that Spain has exempted pet shops. Hopefully Poland will follow suit.

I agree with the comments above.
TBH, I like many, did not really see this coming..... I thought, "Shrugs shoulders", a mild flu, so what?
But it is not a flu and it has become a global pandemic.
Are countries over reacting?
I feel they are, but only time will tell.

So after it is all done, what 3 things should we accomplish as a result that will make the world better?
My three:
1) Pressure must be exerted on China to quit contaminating the rest of the world. This is the root cause of this outbreak, H1N1, seasonal flu, etc.

2) We must establish better technology to address pathogenic outbreaks. It is better than I understood but there is a need for improvement.

3) We must recognize the vulnerabilities of our elderly and infirm and protect them more effectively. A lot of people knew that but some of us didn't.

Somehow you should stop calling people that way.

Collective responsibility is based on statistics. The "not everybody" is really a stupid argument. A forum is not a courtroom with the rules of evidence.

1) Pressure must be exerted on China to quit contaminating the rest of the world.

Simple. Bring ALL manufacturing back home and suspend all human to human contacts with that cancer. No need to exert anything.

@Paulwiz

You are spot on mate.
China has already banned "Wild animal markets", but they need to go further.
They are already showing their guilt by the free aid they are offering to Italy.
China really needs to be held to account for this.
Or else they will pay a very high price.

China has already banned "Wild animal markets", but they need to go further.

I thought that to be an extremely important step! The question will be if and how they will make sure that this new law will be effective. There is a whole culture behind it...it's the same kind of madness why endangered animals are being killed only for their horns or whatever only so that asian males can think themselves to be more potent. It's ridiculous but there are thousand years old beliefs behind it.

If the current chinese gov can truly put a stop to that they would have my respect!

We have banned murders, rapes, and robberies so I am deeply convinced that banning wild animal markets in China will be just as effective.
How about banning the Chinese? Too radical?

If the current chinese gov can truly put a stop to that they would have my respect!

China has no government. Those in charge are criminals under the EU laws. Plus, only a very naive person would use "chinese gov" and "respect" in the same sentence.

China has already banned "Wild animal markets", but they need to go further.

You mean like banning domestic animals like dogs and cats and pet monkeys ?
I eat all kinds of wild animals but they are cleaned properly, the meat is chilled properly and it is cooked properly.
Eating live deceased animals fresh from the streets and garbage dumps may be the problem.
Yes the Chinese eat live mice, live frogs and live bugs and bats.
(I have video's of them doing it but if I posted them here they would immediately get taken down they are so gross)

we have to work together

It has a two week incubation period so why not EVERYONE just stay home for two weeks so it can't be passed on ?

1) Pressure must be exerted on China to quit contaminating the rest of the world.

Its not the first time they have made the world sick and got away with it.

They should be held accountable for this new scourge they have bestowed upon us.

"chinese gov" and "respect" in the same sentence.

Theyre frigging Commies!!

They dont give a rat ass about any of us at all.

I'm not sure what to think of that:

US, Germany battle for virus vaccine surpremacy

france24.com/en/20200314-us-germany-battle-for-virus-vaccine-surpremacy

"The United States and Germany are vying to produce an exclusive vaccine against the coronavirus which is being developed in a German laboratory, Die Welt daily reported Saturday

According to the paper, US President Donald Trump is trying to poach German scientists working on an experimental vaccine against a global health threat that has now killed some 5,500 people with a view to having an exclusive licence rolled out in the United States...."

Here the original source:

welt.de/wirtschaft/article206555143/Corona-USA-will-Zugriff-auf-deutsche-Impfstoff-Firma.html

"Die Tübinger Firma CureVac forscht unter Hochdruck an einem Corona-Impfstoff. Nach WELT AM SONNTAG-Informationen will sich die US-Regierung die Rechte daran exklusiv sichern. Die deutsche Regierung versucht, das zu verhindern..."

Well, I guess now that this is out the chances for that to happen should go against nil!

I just saw on the news that Customs in the U.S. and U.K. have confiscated FAKE Corona test kits.
These scammers should get life sentences in an Italian prison.

Only a hypothesis yet because it had been only studied with 32 (perished) patients. But after that article published in "The Lancet" medicaments like Ibuprofen can worsen a Covid-19 infection.

thelancet.com/action/showPdf?pii=S2213-2600%2820%2930116-8

France is already officially warning:

"Anti-inflammatories may aggravate Covid-19, France advises

French minister says patients should take paracetamol rather than ibuprofen or cortisone"

So, better be safe than sorry...

So the virus spreads before people even know they have it. Closing borders good call, i think Poland needs to quarantine affected suburbs and towns in the future when needed with the Army. edition.cnn.com/2020/03/14/health/coronavirus-asymptomatic-spread/index.html

with a view to having an exclusive licence rolled out in the United States

Typical.

Meanwhile, a Polish scientist prof. Marcin Drąg, and his team from Warsaw University of Technology, "hacked" the enzym that is key to fighting coronavirus. Moreover, they immediately shared their results with the world for free...

The real crisis of the Chinavirus is that it's going to bankrupt more people than it kills, especially in the United States.
Many who live paycheck to paycheck, which is almost 80% of Americans.

Torq

they immediately shared their results with the world for free...

...and it would annoy me to no end, if an American (or any other) company used their results to produce and patent exclusive licence for the cure. :-/

EDIT: Also, it was Wrocław University of Technology (not Warsaw), sorry for the mistake.
