Coronavirus in Poland

As far as masks are concerned I can see that most people in Poland are wearing them with the occasionaly person using something else like a scarf/jumper etc.....For me and I suspect a lot of other people I will continue to wear a mask....whatever the stories are concerning reliability of masks if there is a chance of not contracting the virus from someone else then they are necessary and gives me an element of security when I see others wearing masks in shops etc. I tend to remind myself of the personal accounts on news items from Covid patients, nurses and doctors to remind myself on the suffering they have experienced having caught Covid and consequently how important it is to comply with the science.

There are two types of person at the moment who oppose the advice given by the government/EU/professionals...those who are new at complaining having lost their jobs, income reduction, lifestyle change, restricted mobility...etc and those who are traditionally non compliant on whatever is said or advised on and will oppose anything. Yes governments and politicians are not perfect but this is all we have and the best way to voice your opinion is to vote them in or out at the next election.....for these non compliant people there will be no change and I hope they really do not experience what many thousands have with Covid and those who continue to experience long Covid. There is no halfway house with Covid...either you accept it and take the advice given or you don't.

At some point when vaccinations are nearing the end there will come a time when people will no longer have to wear masks, but until then we just have to be patient and be grateful that we have not caught Covid.

Masks do not protect the wearer. Masks protect others if the wearer coughs, sneezes, or spits. If the wearer does not cough, sneeze, or spit, masks prevent the virus transmission as well as his socks or underwear. Period. End of the bs.

I have yet to see a single person coughing or sneezing in the stores I have been to since Fauci said that masks are useless. When they spoke they did from behind a plexiglass wall. Personally, I don't speak when I buy a gallon of milk.

And there's the 3rd group of those who protest against reducing human beings and their basic rights to a status of cattle you can lock up and experiment on (which includes both: social engineering and medical trials).

Those who are not buying a deadly pandemic narrative and those who think that the applied "medicine" is worse than the disease itself.

Those who are witnessing a collapsing health system i.e. sick people with serious diseases (heart diseases, cancers, circularity diseases) are dying because regular hospitals were converted en masse into "covid" hospitals to treat a virus with mortality rates comparable to the common flu.


Sometimes, when society is put under extremes and treated like cattle civil disobedience is the answer. In 4 years in between elections, a lot of irreversible damage can be done.

The vast majority of course are those who while taking the situation relatively seriously are getting absolutely fed up of it and wants a safe normality to return as quickly as possible. Not sure talk about hypothetical mutant variants making the vaccines useless and never ending lockdowns and restrictions for years to come really helps the situation. Have to assume that that the vaccines will solve the problem or this will never end.

I would rather try and be optimistic about how things will turn out. The weather should get warmer in late Spring the vaccinations will step up a gear and cases will drop. Also by then some of the countries with a faster rollout will have almost finished so the producers can focus more on those countries who are behind. If this happens I see no reason that once autumn arrives enough people will have had it and herd immunity will take care of the rest. It will still be there of course but hopefully not enough to affect everyone's lives.

It will end when the covid terrorists will run out of paper for the money printing presses or when a loaf of bread is 1 million zl.

Not fun, however it'll ease off in time. Mutations (since all viruses mutate) are a definite worry, however herd immunity through vaccination will hopefully mitigate this to a degree. The vaccines we have are very much "first generation" and research is of course continuing.


Autumn is optimistic, given the slow rollout of the vaccine in a lot of parts of the world (and it's autumn now in the southern hemisphere and heading for a cold winter there) - only so much can be produced and administered quickly. Every effort does help though.

Until the next virus. This wasn't the big one that scientists were worried about. Sooner or later (hopefully later) that will come, and lessons we've learnt from this pandemic will be useful.

Which will be even worse because of the prolonged hysterical over-reaction to this airburger (not exactly a nothing burger but).

Anti-covid policies in the US were weaponized by dems as part of the effort to unseat Trump and efforts to ramp down that rhetoric among those that fell for it have been unsuccessful.

You might argue that the day of really threatening mass diseases are over... far more dangerous viruses than covid have escaped China and not done the damage feared.

The responses to this virus have done far more damage than the actual virus itself which probably would have ended last spring with a more level-headed approach. The policies seem to be designed to prolong the virus and give it many, many, many more chances to mutate than it would have otherwise.

Same here. PO are the best of a bad bunch basically. The only saving grace of PO is that they at least try to keep moving forward while PIS want to turn back time and put Poland right back into a weird theocratic version of the PRL.

Has nothing to do with "party" has everything to do with "policy" and action. PiS is nothing but communists with a different flag. Socialist handout state government, state owned business. They are laughable. They are worse than American democrats. How Trump supporters and Republicans can support these morons is simply mind boggling.

The "second wave" was well known in July. PiS did nothing to prepare. Numbers were rising exponentially. Then in October they lock everything down again. But they got all the church weddings completed and all the big virus spreading parties happened.

Now we have business being killed. Yet no restrictions on church attendance? Malls are open because most have foreign investment in them and thats important to keep the optics good.

PiS is the party of the dead. They killed their own followers because they are not prepared. They killed business because they have no idea how to implement real economic policy. Three more years of them at the worst. Sooner or later the smaller parties will break away in the great power grab vacuum to come, when JK is gone or one his way out. The Prime Minister is a court jester and the President isn't even smart enough to seize his place in history as a lame duck.

PiS policy is no different than Witmer or how ever you spell it. Really PiS is like the democratic party on steroids with a conservative social agenda. Today they made it official giving a "14th" retirement payment out increasing the debt. But they have done nothing for business. Only buying the votes of the old retired people.

The difference is the Federal Gov in USA is actually getting money into business hands with PPP and other programs. Here? Not a chance. It is impossible to qualify for the money. They got it from the EU and its going to big Gov owned business, not private enterprise. More kickbacks to cronies basically. Meanwhile we sit and watch friends, sell everything, and stop living the life they used to have.

More vacant storefronts daily, and the recent "auction" in Krakow for city owned and managed properties resulted in none of the storefronts in my neighborhood being filled. No one bid on them. Why? Because Malopolski said that "a pandemic is not a reason for rent reduction or discounts because the business isnt open". That is the government mentality for developing business.

Ivermectin and Fluvoxamine and Budenoside have all had Randomized Control Trials and shown to drastically reduce hospitalizations. We could be rid of this virus if governments introduced these treatments in outpatients. Instead they are stuck in Bureaucracy. Never let a good crisis go to waste. The elite will be able to further monopolize the economy.

It's much the same here. An oversupply at the best of times for retail space in new buildings, and little incentive to take anything on at the moment.
