Coronavirus in Poland

Jon, give it up. Spike is right, you are wrong and a source of annoying noise.

jon357

It looks like a new surge generally. Due to the new variants, which the Ministry of Health here is very worried about:
"Poland is opening temporary hospitals and imposing a partial lockdown as the variant has grown from 10% of all infections in February to 25% now."

They're also not approving the Chinese vaccine due to lack of data, even though cases are rising here. The number of daily infections has doubled:

He is a bot. But he is a useful bot.

He represents the state of mind and the quality of arguments of hardcore corona-freaks. A barometer of collective opinions of lockdown supporters.

I don't have any idiots among my friends so I'm forced to search online for those opinions in order to debunk them. That's where this thread comes in handy.

jon357

in order to debunk them

Yet your eccentric views haven't enabled you to 'debunk' the overwhelming weight of scientific opinion...

Spike31 and Nov are right unf. Being panicked has become a virtue in this age of lunacy. In australia they are talking about stopping reporting case numbers in the future and only reporting how many people are in hospital and deaths to stop people irrationaly freaking out. Shows the power of mainstream media to panic a populace as shown by the war of the worlds radio feature in the 50s.

jon357
7 Mar 2021  #4988

Being panicked

The only 'panic' we see is from crazed anti-maskers and people who have odd beliefs about vaccination programmes and erroneously believe they're being poisoned. And people who believe that public health strategies are part of a conspiracy by a mysterious "them".

In australia they are talking about stopping reporting case numbers in the future

Good that you've finally updated us in the situation in your country. Here in Poland, people are calm, getting on with things, and largely following the regulations.

freaking out

Are people "freaking out", whatever that means?

amiga500
7 Mar 2021  #4989

Here in Poland, people are calm,

Lying again troll? You claimed you are in england currently, yet you continually use the word here in poland. You have no idea how many people are complying with the new strict lockdown.

If you think wearing a cloth mask does anything then you are the one that is crazed. A surgical mask might have some small effect.

If you think wearing a cloth mask does anything then you are the one that is crazed.

So you disagree with the scientific consensus and with the Ministry of Health? On what basis? Your usual online fantasies?

You claimed you are in england currently,

When?

You have no idea how many people are complying with the new strict lockdown.

Really? Almost everyone I see in this part of Warsaw is carefully masked.

"After adjusting for other factors, ILI (RR=6.64, 95% CI 1.45 to 28.65) and laboratory-confirmed virus (RR=1.72, 95% CI 1.01 to 2.94) remained significantly higher in the cloth masks group compared with the medical masks group." cebm.net/covid-19/masking-lack-of-evidence-with-politics/

bmjopen.bmj.com/content/5/4/e006577.long

"A study of health-care workers in more than 1,600 hospitals showed that cloth masks only filtered out 3 percent of particles. An article in the New England Journal of Medicine stated, "[W]earing a mask outside health care facilities offers little, if any, protection from infection" and that "[T]he desire for widespread masking is a reflexive reaction to anxiety over the pandemic."

There are many other credible studies showing lack of mask efficacy, such as studies published in the National Center for Biotechnology Information, Cambridge University Press, Oxford Clinical Infectious Diseases, and Influenza Journal, just to name a few.

Article confirming that the Czech FDA has issued a positive opinion on ivermectin use in hospitalized Covid patients on Wednesday. So ivermectin is now in official Covid-19 use in 2 EU countries. 25 to go. respekt.cz/rozhovor/nasim-pacientum-ivermektin-pomohl-obavy-chapu-ale-nemyslim-ze-jsme-neopatrni

It's rather more than that.

Once again, you didn't fully read the articles you're citing, thereby destroying the point you were trying to make.

The masks are both to protect people from getting infected as well as passing on an infection in its first stages to others. Hence the universal adoption of them.

So ivermectin is now in official Covid-19 use in 2 EU countries

So only two EU states have approved your cats' worming tablets whereas the others haven't...

amiga500
7 Mar 2021  #4994

The point was that cloth masks do nothing, which u conveniently choose to ignore. Not talking about surgical or N95 masks.
Cat worming tablets? Your disdain for life saving therapeutics to try and make a point is pathetic. But would expect nothing less. Feeling lonely without your fellow trolls delph and harry Troll? I guess when WHO makes a recomendation for it in a few weeks or a month you will memoryhole your statement and pretend to have been on ivermectins side all along. Scumbag troll.

jon357

In which case, you cited the wrong studies, which do not in fact say that.

You did that before, citing an article to try to make a point, only to find that your point is destroyed because you didn't read right throuhj.

Cat worming tablets

Ivermectin. That is what they are.

I guess when WHO makes a recomendation for it in a few weeks or a month

Recommendation.

Trying to second guess the experts? When you claimed the other day that the wonderful news about how cats' worming tablets are a miracle cure was being "withheld" despite there being 209,000 online articles about it, you were advised to read a few of those articles. Real articles that do fact-checking and care about accountability rather than pseudoscience blogs and YouTube ranters. You will see that most of the 209,000 articles that you claimed were being 'withheld' urged caution.

And of course the main article you cited, the one from Quora, was very clear. Above all, have the vaccination.

amiga500
7 Mar 2021  #4996

In which case, you cited the wrong studies, which do not in fact say that.

It is literally the study i posted !

The aim of this study was to compare the efficacy of cloth masks to medical masks in hospital healthcare workers
Intervention

Hospital wards were randomised to: medical masks, cloth masks or a control group

Cloth masks do nothing or very negligible. learn to read ! Now you will say oh this study was done in hospitals so nothing do with real world. If cloth masks don't work in hospitals why would they work in the supermarket. You are full of it. If the advice said wear surgical masks then i might be more sympathetic.

Ivermectin. That is what they are.

Ivermectin is used in humans for a variety of conditions and have proven anti viral effects. Stop trolling! I'm muting this troll

jon357
7 Mar 2021  #4997

It is literally the study i posted !

Which you misunderstood completely. And not for the first time...

Now you will say oh this study was done in hospitals so nothing do with real world.

Without the "oh" obviously.

There are very good reasons that masks are mandatory in public places. And those masks by necessity aren't the type used in operating theatres where different conditions apply. Any protection is far better than no protection.

Ivermectin

Cats' worming tablets?

They're anti-helmintics. They're a vermicide used to kill parasites...

Trying to second guess the experts?

Which experts? Whose who said the virus can jump or those who said that the virus can't jump?
Excluding people over 80, how many died from the virus in Poland?

jon357

Some good news here. It looks like Poland will be producing the Novavax vaccine. Good news for the production company too, given the rise in their share price:

Please show me a study showing cloth masks are effective at lessening covid infection rates jon. seems you are the crank.

It looks like Poland will be producing the Novavax vaccine.

PiS winning again. good news.

Novichok

Please show me a study showing cloth masks are effective at lessening covid infection rates

This morning, I concluded that just looking straight up or down - as opposed to ahead - reduces the infection rate by 1.3%. Cloth masks were only 1.1% effective.

Somehow, "science" doesn't produce numbers - only the words like may and can. Alternately, might and could.

PolAmKrakow
7 Mar 2021  #5002

@amiga500
PiS has nothing to do with the company who received the bid to produce the vaccine which has not even been approved in the EU yet. The company was formed before PiS took control of the government, and the company is a private company, not government funded BS as usual. Not a PiS win, not even a win yet for Poland. At best production will begin at the end of the second quarter.

amiga500
7 Mar 2021  #5003

@polam
PiS goverment is providing lot of money for the company (300 mln i think?) to upgrade their manufacturing capabilities. Gov worked with Novavax to make this happen.

PolAmKrakow
7 Mar 2021  #5004

@amiga500
As they would any company who got this deal. As would any government who got this deal in their country. The deal was not contingent nor negotiated by PiS they are simply going to be the PR benefactor. Which isnt going to help with the disaster they have created in Poland. Have you walked the streets of any Polish city lately? Seen the real economic disaster first hand? Poland, because PiS is incompetent and was completely unprepared for the second, third, fourth...waves of a virus that is not deadly to 99.9% of the population has destroyed the country economy. They are now reaping what they sow. Disaster will take them down, as stupidity takes all of them down that are similar throughout history.

Disaster will take them down, as stupidity takes all of them down that are similar throughout history.

Which is nothing more than rearranging the chairs.
Normally, we would expect different countries to handle things differently. Not this time.
Parallel to the China virus, the world got infected with a much deadlier kind, the Scared Moron virus, for which there will never be an effective vaccine.

amiga500

If you think PO would have done less and not more with lockdowns or given your business more money then you are frankly delusional. PO would have locked down more and cracked down on anti lockdown protests a lot more

jon357
7 Mar 2021  #5007

PiS winning again

The company in question doesn't have great relations with them and won the contract through direct negotiation. But never mind about facts; they don't generally trouble you...

They are now reaping what they sow. Disaster will take them down, as stupidity takes all of them down that are similar throughout history.

Sadly yes; it's been an ostrich mentality here.

amiga500
7 Mar 2021  #5008

The company in question doesn't have great relations with them

More lies.

"State-run PFR will provide Mabion with 40 million zlotys ($11 million) in loans and equity so the company can double its production capacity in central Poland.

"The biggest challenge when it comes to the availability of vaccinations is the production capacity. This is what all vaccine producers are struggling with and this is the cause of delays. This investment is a direct response to these problems," PFR Chief Executive Pawel Borys told a conference."

Funny how this was announced at the same time as the deal! almost as if the PiS goverment was involved. LOL yeah really bad relations with government.

Did you find that study relating to cloth masks reducing coronavirus infections yet?

Novichok

Did you find that study relating to cloth masks reducing coronavirus infections yet?

Make sure that the "study" he finds has numbers, peer reviews, and no adjectives. While we are waiting, a quote from rt.com:

More than open barbarism I fear barbarism with a human face - ruthless survivalist measures enforced with regret and even sympathy but legitimized by expert opinions.

jon357
7 Mar 2021  #5010

More lies.

Really? That's nothing to suggest they have a good relationship with the PiSuarzy (in fact they have an interesting history, although you didn't know that of course, and had probably never heard of Marion...

Nice of you to suggest that the PiS-flappers would withhold (see, that's how to use the word) funding from a company they haven't got their claws into. Doubtless their predecessors would have been more generous.

This investment is a direct response to these problems,

And you'll notice that it's loans and equity. Unless that escaped you (which it probably did)

The bare minimum...

Did you find that stud

Why would I look for studies? You're the one trying to make heterodox assertions. Masks are the norm. Anti-masking isn't. Do ry harder if you're trying to pick arguments with your betters.
