Coronavirus in Poland

The question - so far unanswered - is what is the master plan and who cooked it up. The behavior of the ruling cliques is too similar to be dismissed as coincidental. Or is it simply a CYA virus aka "we are not the only ones doing it" that is similar to a guy looking up and soon a hundred next to him doing the same thing.

It looks like cases are rising according to this. The article is a couple of days old and today's figures are even higher. I'm travelling to the UK and back soon then elsewhere so hopefully Poland won't be added to the Red List.

They're testing a lot more than they were before and the more you test the higher the number of positive results....when they approach 60,000 a day then the percentage goes up around 25 % or a little more.

Reporting raw numbers of positive results is just substandard journalism.

Hospitalization has been increasing and the daily death rate has but nothing tremendously alarming.

Covid reporting is really terrible.... everywhere, when you look at raw numbers..... it's a very different picture.

There are some very weird cases like France (more or less steady state since early December) but rapid increases of numbers strain medical systems (even where they haven't been crippled by political neglect) for short periods are usually quickly followed by rapid falls.

Portugal was badly strained in the last few weeks of January and now cases and fatalities have fallen off a cliff.

Cases in Britain have also fallen off a cliff less than ten percent of what they were when they were scared of the British mutation....

Press coverage is essentially a psy-op against the populations.

Stick to numbers and calm down.

It's slightly irritating that Polandin persist in reporting jab stats as people vaccinated. I try and follow the daily updates on there but why they are stating that 4.5 million people have had the jab when in reality its not even 3 million with their first I don't know.

Whilst small business owners and as you stated the people that wanted to live the flash lifestyle may be suffering and should be helped more, in seems that Poland under PiS government economically is weathering the pandemic better than most of Europe.

There's a lot of low level corruption, favours, nepotism etc. here in queue jumping. I know people who aren't in any sort of priority category who've had it because they're friends with someone who can get it for them, and people who really should have had it by now but still have a long wait.

It does seem that numbers of new Covid infections in Poland are rising again and quite agree that Covid reporting is poor...its difficult to know where to get accurate figures but one obvious (but not necessarily reliable source) is Polsat News which I believe is sponsored by PIS, so I am somewhat sceptical that the reporting of news stories and Covid figures etc are as balanced as they should be.

Could it be that all those people who believe there is nothing to worry about, mixed freely with thousands of others in places like Zakopane in the short sighted belief that they wouldn't catch anything....it would be interesting to know from new infections what their movements were in recent weeks and who they met up with...it could be quite revealing....because of this the rest of Poland has to suffer with new restrictions....

I have a friend (a senior doctor) whose job is connected to people who've died in a given location and the causes of their deaths. When it all started he was a bit of a covid-denier, saying he'd rather get covid than influenza and disliking masks. He's not a covid denier any more.

Rise in what? How? What should people do? Stay inside? For how long?

What about the very real damage being done to children? They are not meant to be cooped up at home and be educated by talking screens... this is becoming an acute problem in America where up to 3 million children are essentially missing in terms of education....

I can't imagine it's better in Poland where remote learning (like everywhere else) is an unmitigated disaster.

Nobody here denies covid. The debate is what to do about it.

Yet China isn't in lockdown right now.

And the Chinese government don't make policy in Poland or anywhere else in Europe.

Nobody likes lockdowns, and I'm sick of it all too, however it wasn't a decision taken lightly, hence the UK's hesitation in starting, something that doesn't seem to have worked well there.

So old famous people dying "with covid," are okay to exploit, while they also exploit the rare cases of young people dying who they don't show the pictures of because they are fat. But those who die as a direct result of the vaccine within days are off limits and evil "deniers," are just exploiting their memories. At least the mail pointed out that Hagler had just got the vaccine and Hearns says he was in ICU because of it the day before he died, most of the rest of the MSM just ignore that and pretend he just died and don't mention that he just had the vaccine.

It is true that online learning can be difficult and frustrating to use and many students and teachers yearn for a return to face to face lessons, but it is better than no lessons at all and it does give students an opportunity to speak with others and focus on their studies.....the only other option is to consider face to face lessons but with so many students there is a serious risk of spreading infection.....it is not necessarily a disaster more of a compromise which is temporary and will return slowly to how things were before...

No!!! Kids don't spread! Name one case where a kid gave another kid corona and the other kid died. Plus, kids die in large numbers for other reasons.

Older teachers with the underlying conditions can be in a bubble if they are so scared or in a different room with a big screen TV in the classroom. Anything to keep the kids feel no fear or isolation.

In the US, it was the teacher unions' interests, not the kids' or their parents', that ruled the day. The fact that all of them are sick fatsos is another matter, but it should have no bearing on the students. It goes under the title: go die if you are that fat.

Not sure if you should highlight that students also suffer from obesity, but yes it is a problem....however age does not really prevent students or anyone for that matter from spreading the virus....there are many young people who have ended up in hospital having caught Covid in the UK....likely to be the same in Poland....

In the UK where there have always been face to face lessons for keyworkers' kids, this has been a problem. Even if a bubble is formed, they can go back to overcrowded large households and spread illness.

In Poland, my bet is one in fifty. The 49 should not suffer because one has idiots for parents.
Kids under 18 have parents who are 45 or less with their own immunities to fight off corona. Just look at the mortality rates vs age and see that those 45 or younger would never justify lockdowns. Grandpas like me should hide somewhere and get out of the way. I did. Didn't hug my grandkids for almost a year.

And sadly too many have died of it.

Well, queue jumping is obviously a problem when it comes to those less vulnerable getting it before those that are. The bigger problem however is the numbers themselves thou. Needs to be a huge increase pretty soon with jabs in the hundreds of thousands every day.
