Poland is 25th in deaths per million, and below France, Spain, Portugal, the US, Bulgaria, the UK, Italy, and Belgium, but equal with Sweden that didn't do as much damage to their economy.

The minor parties I am talking about are the PiS allies not the opposition. PiS is only part of the problem and no one should get a pass. The opposition didnt do anything for hospitals either that I can see, or for health care and education. Both sides were failures in both of those areas. PiS gets the blame for how they handled the virus though and rightly so.

the rule making really is funny. None of this is law, and none of it is legal. They have no authority to force anyone to do anything they are doing without a state of emergency. Grateful to be going back to USA for a while where at least things are under control and I can get a vaccine without waiting in line and without all the other red tape Poland is giving its citizens.

There is no way that will be allowed to happen. I heard that around 7 million doses of it will be sent to Poland over the next few weeks.

I understand that the adult population is around 30 million (no plans to give it to kids yet although I heard tests are ongoing), 70% of that is around 21 million. In the next few months both the UK and the USA are likely to reach the herd immunity level and the focus will shift elsewhere.

There still is a waiting line,depends which state are you going,you should look for an open appointment now before you leave for States,as still in NJ,NY & PA people cant get appointments.That is if you are eligible,I enrolled my wife as a volunteer in a hospital and she got it and me as in essential services as real estate lol.But no one checks.I enrolled in around 20 places in NJ and got an appointment on 12 th of this month.Best time to get an appointment is after midnight and before 7 am east coast time.CVS,Walgreens,Rite Aid and shoprite are also vaccinating.

Anything is possible with PiS.

Perhaps if covid continues to surge here, other countries will allow extra doses to be diverted to Poland. Perhaps. Otherwise, it's grim news.

There is very little chance to get appointment in my county as it is republican county so we had to go in a democrat county as there are not enough supplies in our county.

Poland is mini USSR not democracy. Lets be honest in the evaluation at least.

I dont think PiS is smart enough to plan anything. And they sure aren't smart enough to follow anyone who did plan something. If they were, they wouldn't have so many issues with the EU, they would simply fall in line.

Poland is simply a case of idiots running a country into the ground because they hold on to ideology that the vast majority of people are tired of even hearing about. The good news though is that around this time next year probably 50% of Poland will be vaccinated. Meanwhile I will get my jab on the 8th and had no problem getting an appointment on the day and time I asked for. Plenty of vaccine in USA.

I think a lot will hinge on the April weather, that's with the virus itself and compliance with the restrictions. However even if the weather is poor over April it should warm up over May so even if there's an extension of the restrictions next month of another week or two I doubt it could continue much longer.

If you understood basic virology you would know the virus mutates thousands of times a week, thus there are already 1500 recorded unique local variants in Poland See cbrc.kaust.edu.sa/covmt/index.php?p=maps The evolutionary pressure of a virus is to become less harmfull and virulent, the Brazilian mutation is considered a extreme outlier. The dominant British mutation has a longer infectious period but no increase in virulence/fatality. Of course there is the possibility of vaccine viral escape mutations but this will definitely not be known as the 'Polish Mutation" ! Stop your scare-mongering.

Poms like you don't bat an eyelid at child benefits in U.K but when it's applied to poland somehow it has created ugly people. The underclass has always and will always be there, it's about getting families out of extreme poverty, so they don't commit crimes or commit infanticide out of desperation. The underclass has always been around, through a research project I was involved in a Polish underclass community a number of years ago and they were much better behaved in public (despite some distressing life circumstances).

500+ is not a COVID benefit, it was the promise of it that got PiS into office to begin with. Please at lease do that much homework. The Opposition made it clear they wouldnt take away 500+. But voter suppression efforts in big cities and more bribes offered to the old for 13th and 14th pension payments got them re-elected because they beat the virus.

PiS is done after this. If there are early elections and I think there will be, its going to be a landslide. If they were held today, PiS has no chance and people would brave the virus just to be rid of them.

Only if PiS can count votes of the supporters they killed off by not preparing for multiple waves. The great majority of deaths are in their strongholds and in their demographics. Add in the Mountain areas outright rejection of PiS rules on the pandemic, and other parties seeing they have a chance at the power grab, and its pretty easy to see whats happening. JK has been almost silent lately, I wonder why that is? All of his showboating over the abortion rights law and now he pulls a vanishing act. Houdini couldn't do it this well for this long. Then again, all cowards usually hide when the end is near.

Is that the only vaccine available in Poland ?
There seems to be more than enough vaccines of Pfizer, Moderna and J & J in the U.S.A. to share with Poland.

Yes, I noticed that too. What's striking is that they attempt to keep up some semblance of respectability and even the youngest parents try to teach their kids basic manners and appropriate behaviour for a public place. I've encountered a few kids from backgrounds of considerable economic and social disadvantage in Poland and they're little sweeties, bless them.
