My wife had to go for a regular test at the hospital last week and the nurse treating her was not wearing a mask.

That is a possibility. It looks like 5% (some say 3%, others 10%) of all Covid patients suffer from long covid, which would be roughly 150k cases in Poland.

Not sure if that's a thing... in one study a large majority of those claiming 'long covid' had no evidence that they'd ever had 'short covid' (had never had a positive test and had no antibodies).....

I think it's a diffuse, non-specific disorder of the kind that is very appealing to some people.

I chose manage since there are sensitive feelings here with some. About time for everyone to say the hell with it and the 4th wave can take everyone who didnt get the jab. A few pedophile Polish priests would be great examples in my opinion.

Today, I went to renew my license. Not a single employee there wore a mask. Half of the customers did.

That is not really a problem. The problem is that the mask-holes are allowed to vote in November.

Yeah those maskholes are enfuriating. They can't be bothered with the slightest inconvenience for keeping themselves and others safe.

Interesting puzzle.... why are so many English speaking countries leading the world in dysfunctional destructive covid policies?

Canada and Australia are stuck in eternal lockdown mode, but New Zealand leads the pathetic pack and the country is seeing a massive crisis in children's health - not from covid which is not dangerous to them at all - but from covid policies which have compromised their immune systems (no exposure to the usual bacterial and viral infections of childhood leaves them more vulnerable)

Two possibilities - since most covid policies aren't about health but about a change to economic and governments systems (best name so far is 'technical feudalism') English speaking countries are simply ahead of everyone else.

There's also the trade off between uncertainty and risk - English speaking countries, for the most part, don't mind uncertainty but hate risk (Poland is the opposite - uncertain and novel situations make people nervous but they can deal with calculated risks).

That's the trouble, stats can be easily manipulated. While an increase in the numbers is something to be careful about, if it's from a very low level it has to be taken in context. At the end of the day, most western countries have around half their populations vaccinated with at least one now. Poland admittedly just under half but by the end of the summer would surely be higher. Got to draw a line in the sand at some point over this.

No indication that we will need a booster shot this fall for Covid yet Pfizer is already asking for emergency authorization to distribute their new experimental booster shots. $$$$$$

Masks can't stop smoke but can stop the virus, right? Maybe in Germany where the viruses are bigger and better. Here, these suckers are tiny and a cloth mask can't stop them.

The only reason masks are "the slightest inconvenience" (that's a lie) is that they don't work and the air we breathe in and out goes around them. But they make maskholes feel good and serve a higher purpose. Now I know their IQ and how they vote without asking.
