The only reason for a booster (this soon after the original) is to create a new wave of hospitalizations.... mass vaccination has been consistently followed by high rates of hospitalizations and deaths (Poland's worst wave peaked 6 weeks or so after mass vaccinations started).

They would want that so that they can shut down more small scale independent businesses (one of the things being pursued at present along with the destruction of the tourism and hospitality industries)

the Pfizer (especially) weakens people's immune systems so people who've had a shot should quarantine for a couple of weeks - yet somehow that information has never filtered out...

The spring wave peaked (in terms of the 7 day moving average) on April 04 for cases and April18 for deaths.

You can look around on that second link... the thing is that in pretty much every country a big wave of vaccinations is followed by a big swell of hospitalizations and deaths... (also in the UK and Israel)

That was the first (real) wave, seasonal in nature like the flu. The official first wave was hardly anything...

The second (real) wave came on the heals of vaccination (as in other countries).

the thing with Delta is that it inflates case numbers (especially when you test a lot as in the UK) but doesn't do much to hospitalization or death rates. Rates are probably higher and if Poland was testing almost a million a day (as happened in the UK) then the rates would be a lot higher.

I hear a different story about delta in India - also Britain is one of the most thoroughly vaccinated society in the world - that might be a factor why the delta variant doesn't produce much hospitalization

In the US in many places small mom 'n pop stores were forced to close but the biggest retailers (Target, Wall-Mart) weren't and were swamped with people while the small independent stores had to be closed because they were supposedly too dangerous.


they started with those more at risk (who were even more at risk when their immune systems were weakened). the may-june shots were in people who were less at risk in the first place (the vaccines do work to some extent - but they seem to make the vulnerable more so for a time).

I think various factors were at play - including(or perhaps mostly) weather that favoured survival of the virus in the environment - just look at the October-November wave - I read somewhere that the preferred temperatures for the virus are around 5 degrees Celsius - I'm not telling you are not partly right
