I'm not sure if "engeeners and surgeons" from Africa and the middle-east are a good fit for that but you can try.

The alternative is that, God forbid, Germans would have to do the dirty work. Germany is not self-sufficient and Poland has a huge food production surplus and is one of the major exporters of food products in Europe. Poland has also the largest truck fleet [for supply chain] in the EU.

So if this coronahysteria goes any longer we could make a great deal of money on that. If we had a Trump as our president we would already negotiated a lucrative deal on that :-)

But the truck fleet needs petrol and spare parts

We also need masks vaccines and equipment

It is not the virus which is the problem but the reaction of the masses steered by mass media. One year from now you'll gain a fresh perspective and reflect on those events asking yourself how stupid it was.

This virus is just another variation of the flu virus that we'll have to live with but the destructive impact on the economy is real. Of course there are some benefits of this situation like taking over control of a national borders by the EU countries and proving once more that the "EU solidarity" is a bullshit in time of crisis. So a healthy dose of realism.

That said, the first country which would wake up will get a headstart and will be the [economical] winner. And the first thing what I'll do when the hysteria is over is to go for a cheap holiday to Italy :-)

Well, we have lots of aspargus fields here and since the poles are locked out, we need alternatives for harvesting it.

Btw Germany is self sufficient in food. We are at 96%. Poland is at 82%.

True. All of those things can be produced in Japan, USA, Australia, India, and other countries besides China. While some are being vilified for blaming China publicly, I think the blame falls squarely on them and it should. There is no other way to hold them accountable for their multiple releases of virus other than financial. Cut them off, isolate them, and maybe they wont be responsible for another.

By that logic America should have been cut off for causing the 2008 crash and all the turmoil that followed.

It is also obvious that by cutting them off you will just create a heavily armed paranoid state - like the USSR - with an army of hackers etc.

China holds huge amount of American debt - isolating them would crash the US economy immediately. And the blank cheques being written this week by western governments need Asians to buy the debt

My point however is not only about China, rather that we need trade to sustain modern living.

You try to kill nuclear power by blockade (cut off, as you say), in its final extent is always attempt to kill it. Nuclear powers then respond best (or worse) it can. In international courts that for years America has refused to join and even in the last few years Trump has pulled the US out of those conventions

The United States does not have to join any international court for individual entities to take action on their own. Persons, corporations, and countries have brought action many times in many places. Other countries have brought actions against individual entities as well, Facebook is an example.

When you commit an actionable offense, and you avail yourself to that jurisdiction, your nationality has zero to do with it. A relatively strong argument can be made that China, by virtue of their cover up, and then allowing infected persons to leave for all points in the world, availed itself to all of those jurisdictions by doing so.

As for God, Putin and Trump saving everyone? That was intended to be funny I hope. Trump, and the United States government officials who were aware of this coming pandemic months ago have blood on their hands for failing to act then. But of course no one wants to talk about failing to act either.

They're just making it sound much worse than it really is, that's their national trait. The fact that they are the second oldest nation in the world, right after Japanese, doesn't help the situation either. The old people with lifelong history of accumulated sickness and diseases are an easy target for flu virus.

Common flu kills them in hundret of thousands a year, it doesn't have to be trendy "coronavirus".

It is true that Italy has a high percentage of elderly....(mediteranean diet etc...) and of course that accounts for the high number of deaths, but the main problem with the virus in Italy is that action was not taken early enough....eg. shutting down shops etc and isolating the population. This will serve as a warning for other countries.

A group of volunteers in Ireland are developing a a low-cost, easy-to-assemble ventilator to be distributed globally, hoping to start testing prototype in the next few weeks, could help with the shortage of ventilators. It's an Open Source project and no profit is involved, in collaboration with the Irish Health Service. Would be great if they can get it off the ground and save lives.

You better pray for it to be the case, because Poland is woefully unprepared for the Italian or Spanish scenario. Hospitals are begging on social media for basic supplies, there's huge issues with testing, and now we're seeing the first major jump in infections.

If the much wealthier Italy and Spain can't cope, Poland has no chance.

You only have to look at how difficult it is to even get tested in Poland against how the Germans are doing it.
