Common flu (influenza) actually kills far more - about 60k a year worldwide, 20k in USA.

That's why I refuse to be brought into this panic and am only looking at the positives - 1) europe is FINALLY patrolling and enforcing their borders meaning turd worlders won't be able to get in 2) work is slow 3) several blue chips are being sold at a huge bargain for longer term holds i.e. restaurants, hotels, even a few retail stocks 4) free $$$ from Trump 5) no traffic even during rush hour 6) gas is cheap and much much more

They won't. That's why I'm on board with locking down: I don't want the hospitals to be overrun by covid.


Health insurance or not, you show up at any hospital in the US, you get treated. One of the myths floating out there is you won't be treated if you aren't covered by insurance or don't pay up front. It's illegal for a hospital to turn someone away if they need med care.

My biggest fear is hospitals not having capacity for those who have urgent med issues other than covid, because covid is absorbing too much of the hospital's resources. So, I'm all for this lockdown.

Unfortunately self centered self serving come up short in that category.
They should be sprayed with indelible ink when ignoring the health and welfare of others so when they show up at the emergency room they can be turned down so they don't take up room for someone that they infected.

This would be an excellent way to cull the ass holes out of society.


That is because the Progressive Liberals have instilled the fact that there are no consequences when you don't listen and continue to do what YOU want.

My generation got our pants warmed up when we didn't listen to authority but that since has been outlawed.
Now look what we have running around in society because of it.

My fear is that these morons will keep pushing it until Marshal law is implemented and ruins it for all of us.

Not at the moment. However, I predict another spate of bulk, if not panic, buying. When people realize that the lockdown will carry on well into April, if not May they will start worrying about future shortages if supply chains are disrupted. The government should issue a directive to retailers that only 'x' number of any one product are allowed per customer and provision needs to be made for those relying on state pension and other low income households.

Btw The Football Association of Ireland and the National League Executive Committee have set the weekend beginning 19 June as a target date for the resumption of SSE Airtricity League football. Now they wouldn't announce that publicly unless they consulted the government first so it gives you an idea of how long things will take to return to 'normal'. Not too bad really. Three months.

This looks likely. Some UK supermarkets are limiting sales; perhaps that's the way to go here.

There's something called charitable care provisions.

It's true some folks have to declare bankruptcy but it's not as widespread as many would like us to think.

The real argument is cost of care, which is driven by many factors-one big one being government regulations and control. There's an interesting correlation between rising costs and medicare expansion.

Hope so , I am glad that we are in Poland during this time, in the uk my 85 yer old mum, and brother with heart issues cant find food in supermarkets.

Are any of the stores doing this themselves? Here in my mid-sized Midwest USA city most, if not all, have been rationing certain products. Although, there are some shoppers who are trying to game the system.

And then you get a huge bill to pay. That's why millions of people without any health insurance avoid going anywhere near a hospital. That's one thing about the US that I find despicable in the 21st century - tens of millions of people without access to basic health services. Get it sorted, Anti - surely the only global superpower can afford a public health service?

And sadly about 4 million in Poland.

If you have no insurance and you need medical treatment they CAN NOT turn you away. PERIOD !
If you have no money they can't take your house to pay your medical bill.
They can't get blood from a rock.
And as Dirk has already explained to you six times, "As long as you are making an effort to pay on your medical bill every month even if it is just $20 they can't do squat to you."

EVERYONE gets medical attention in America that needs it.
The write off for hospitals are in the billions.
The hospitals still get paid for their services on hugely padded bills they know that they will never collect on.
And people that can't afford medical insurance they qualify for Medicaid (government welfare health ins) that covers everything.
