World leaders all knew this was coming months ago. They did nothing. US Congress members took advantage by selling off stock and taking profits weeks ago when they were warned. Yet the public wasn't warned and protected. This could have been a lot less deadly situation had action been taken. Trump, while he did the right thing with the China travel ban, could have done a lot more. Calling everyone home from abroad only got more people infected.

Scary to think now that this lock down is likely going to last until June. The economic damage will make the depression look not as bad. 2008 will look like an economic speed bump. N

This coronavirus pandemic showed the complete failure of "liberal democracies" such as Italy, France, Spain to deal with the crisis.

This is why a strong state with a robust central government is required and PiS ruled Poland has a better chance to stop the spreading of the virus by adopting drastic measures when they are needed such as sealing the borders, shutting down restaurants, coffee shops, bars, nightclubs, closing schools & universities, including taking away the individual freedom of Polish people in order to save lives.

I feel blessing in disguise being stuck in Poland.Poland feels more safe then the USA.I also refused LOT offer to go back as I dont want to travel in a plane with 250 untested people for 8/9 hours.

Exactly what I thought when this was first getting coverage. Look at Netherlands and level of infections over 4200. Willing to bet many infections came from people passing through SCHIPOL. Calling people home was IMO the dumbest thing any government could have done.

Family in NYC describing nightmare scenario's. Sister and Brother in law both physicians, both saying things will become dire by the end of the week.

Abstaining from going to a beach will not kill you , either. :)

People use to laugh when they saw my first aid kit in a flat with thermometer,which has become very handy.Some friends told me they are selling for 400 pln and no apteka has them either.I didnt have any face to face physical human contact for last 11 days now.In NJ wife says there are no cars on the roads and stores are shut down,I think its a bit too late.One has to admit Polish Govt was smart and did take the right steps at right time.Just for that they have my vote.

Indeed. The film provided in post #804 by Vesko Vukovic is absolutely horrifying. Doctors in Italy clearly say the coronavirus can by no means be compared to any of the flu viruses that have existed until today and also to anything they have seen in their medical life so far.
