A Polish home without a thermometer?

Yes at least 3 of my Polish friends in Warsaw living in Flats.

Are you going to take part in the elections?

And Yes again(my answer)

heh.... the entire jewropean union isn't helping Italy in emergency, yet again... but yet Putin rushes to the rescue... wtf is the point of this jewropean union if members don't even help each other during emergencies?

Even Cuba is sending doctors to Italy.
Poland should be paying attention to who comes to their aid and who doesn't and never forget.
A company in a neighboring county from me has converted from making plastic bags to making 10,000 plastic hospital gowns per day.
Poland should be seeing some of these soon.

I'll be there.

Nearly 100,000 people in Poland are in quarantine now.

At that rate, by 10 May there will have been 1 million of them.

Yes, it's the (5th? 6th? 7th?) end of the world. We get it.

The overall hysteria is about to reach a critical point. And since society can't live on the edge forever, it's better if the government(s) planned some form of release in the [near] future. It is a one big social experiment, even Great Britain was pressured to stop spoling it and to join the coronavirus party. One normal country would be a bad example for the rest.

Observing all of this is quite fascinating but the post-crisis economical hangover will be very painful for most.

hysteria

No hysteria and so far self-isolation, social distancing etc is working well in PL.

the post-crisis economical hangover will be very painful

Very. That's a given.

economical hangover

A lot of Poles are about to discover that there's a downside to getting a mortgage for a huge house and by leasing an expensive car.

Pawian - predictably so, we've had the first e-mails from parents asking for a reduction in fees. I'll write more in the other thread about it.

Data for the 24th of March 2020 (morning hours):

Data for Poland: 766 confirmed cases ofinfected in Poland. 13 cured. 8 deaths.
Respective data for Germany (according to a Polish website): 29,056 -- 453 -- 123
Respective data for the UK (according to a Polish website): 6,650 -- 135 -- 335

A striking difference between the UK and Germany - a nearly three times higher number of deaths against the four times lower number of the infected .

A striking difference between the UK and Germany

Largely to do with testing patterns.

Spike31
24 Mar 2020  #822

@jon357 Exactly.

And Italians did a mass screening and counted every single person who tested positive for "coronavirus" and later died - for any reason - as a victim of coronavirus. So every single old person who died of age related organ failures but tested positive for "coronavirus" was counted as a victim of pandemia. That's the real story behind Italian epidemic

jon357
24 Mar 2020  #823

the real story

The 'real story' is as it is presented. No conspiracy, no deliberately false figures.

It is a pandemic.

No conspiracy, no deliberately false figures.

Surely you don't believe any figures provided by the Chinese communist party?

Deliberately false figures and conspiracies there meant that the world is months behind where it should be... the only reliable figures are those from SKorea and Italy (of the countries hardest hit so far). Thousands, maybe millions, of people will die needlessly because of the Chinese Communist Party.

jon357
24 Mar 2020  #825

the only reliable figures

None are reliable, and no Western country is as far as I know falsifying them.

Thousands, maybe millions, of people will die

Doubtless. As so many die throughthe effects of late stage 'capitalism'. The situation in China is far from clear; here in Europe there is at least transparency, if not always competence.

So for the last 2 weeks we've got a strict quarantine in Poland and yet between 16 and 22 March 2020 over 100 000 Poles got infected with common flu. How about that.

infected with common flu

If that's how you feel, you're free to waddle off and get infected with Covid-19, maybe pass it on to loved ones. Others are more sensible.

PolAmKrakow

@Spike31

Easy to get the flu in a grocery store. Same as Covid-19 if there is some kind of contact. I have had a cough and runny nose since January, not Covid-19, maybe a slight recurrent flu, more likely just a tough cold that wonr't completely go away until summer like I usually have each winter. To say or imply that these reported flu cases could also be Covid-19 undercover cases is a big leap.

In what way exactly?

No, I'm not implying that at all. On a contrary!.

I'm showing those stats to the followers of the "cult of coronavirus". Smart people will make their own conclusions based on that simple piece of data.

Fake news - it's a 70 year old disease, not airborne and there is a vaccine for it

johnny reb
24 Mar 2020  #836

No hysteria and so far self-isolation, social distancing etc is working well in PL.

Yet eventually everyone in Poland will contract it until a vaccine is invented.
All self isolation is doing is slowing the spread so the healthcare system is not overwhelmed with everyone getting it at once.
We are all are going to get it no matter what we do.

It's been discussed here by people in a couple of threads.

Could you be more specific?
In the State of Michigan they have only tested 3,000 people out of a population of over 10 million people.
They refuse to test anyone with symptoms unless they are going to be hospitalized or are at high risk like old people, ect.
My government gets a very low score in this department. IMO

@Cargo pants

Hantavirus is a single-stranded, enveloped, negative-sense RNA virus in the family Hantaviridae of the order Bunyavirales. These viruses infect rodents, but do not cause disease in them. Humans become infected with hantaviruses through contact with rodent urine, saliva, or feces.

I see that a hospital in Grójec about 40km south of Warsaw has an outbreak of Coronavirus. Apparently the hospital hasn't been adhering to correct procedures for infectious diseases. They have 11 infected patients and 13 medical staff. About 130 people are believed to have had contact with them. They're not admitting new patients to any wards in the hospital.
