No loss of smell or taste. It's not uncommon for viruses to get less lethal as they become more infectious. It seems that happens here.

Hey, guys, I see you are turning into suspicious cynics like me. That's good. The thing is that it is not enough and you have to be able to justify it.

The jab yellow brick road would be simple to follow if we, the people, were forced to buy those jabs. But we are not - they are free to us. This means that the four jab-making companies conspired with some 100+ governments to get rich by forcing us to get jabbed or else. That conspiracy must include bribes the jab makers give the parasites (I mean government employees) to keep the jab scam going - along with masks and restrictions.

Add to this the fact that, as fake as they are, "democracies" still have "free" elections and that by now people have had it and they are not very happy - if the European riots are any indicator.

Bottom line: as much as hate the gov parasites, I don't see any money for them in this jabbing mess.

western governments have gone all in on neoliberalism, which is about shutting down traditional government services (healthcare, education, security) and transferring public goods to the private sector (using any convenient talking points available).

one term I've seen for this new emerging model is the bio-security state (replacing the old nation state). now governments aren't interested in cultivating our labor (the reason for supplying services) they're interested in harvesting our bodies and managing us physically through drugging us up in various ways...

finding ever new reasons for more and more people to get injected is part of that.

If it's a big conspiracy it's not working well....or Germany (and assorted) wouldn't had such vaccine-problems....either getting them, jabbing the willing and especially convincing the unwilling.

No. There must be a reason. In my ultimate cynicism, I am still willing to accept that the fear of covid and being accused of "doing nothing while people die" is the driving force behind throwing billions at them in hope of producing the vaccine. The lockdowns and masks rules can be explained easily by the desire to show proactivity as bragging points before the next elections and raw power - the ultimate aphrodisiac.

Yes, I don't believe in a conspiracy but there is a lot of old fashioned corruption - the huge legal margins on masks, tests etc and the amounts of taxpayers cash swilling around meant this was always going to be a great opportunity. In the west that will be "party funding" and in less developed countries it will be straightforward brown envelopes.

there are handful of industries that got so big that they could corrupt governments - finance in the Clinton years, Oil in the Bush years, Big Tech in the Obama era and now Big Vaccine will join them. They are not going to give up this scale of profits without a fight, and the same goes for the Covid industrial complex of testing, zoom and Skype, Amazon etc.

In an interesting side effect I read today in the FT that the world is running out of vodka bottles - as well as the sharp increase in at home alcohol use it seems the glass is being bought up by vial manufacturers !

It's a hypothesis and the evidence doesn't especially contradict it. Not all governments are equally on board (Sweden especially, later maybe also Poland) but on the other hand hasn't the UK just introduced masking in school because of mighty omicron?

What's really interesting is not how the true believers have fallen in line and clamored for more lockdowns but how many people saw through the omicron BS so quickly. Early on the choice was made to treat covid as a moral panic... which cannot be maintained for more than about 18 months (give or take a few).

Those develop on their own all too easily. Look at the Savile panic (clue: Sir Jimmy didn't do 99.9% of what he was posthumously accused of, but the lumpenproletariat need their demons and there are people of ill will ready to fuel the fire, especially online).
