Between roughly the 19th and 24th day on that trajectory picture, the US has seen an increase from around 25,000 to 85,000 cases. This shows that the epidemic is spreading out incredibly fast there, much faster than in the other countries shown in that picture.

Is it a surprise when you see the punks out on the beaches in Florida during spring break ignoring authority.

USA infection rate is 12 times higher than Germany. Within 3 days USA got more infections than Germany in 4 weeks. While our infection rate shrinks, yours is even growing faster and reachs exponential growth.

No, it's a forum for everyone for all things Polish. But yes, mostly its the same old few dozen members along with the occasional expats mainly from India or Pakistan who got an IT job in Poland asking if the salary they've been offered is sufficient to live in the country.

Poland took charge of the chinavirus situation far better than most countries. Right away they locked **** down, factories were closed, airports closed, etc. with big ass fines if you're not abiding by the lockdown. Meanwhile, in the USA at least in Illinois there's a total lockdown yet large groups are congregating at parks, bike paths, etc.

I have a cousin who works at the airport and he told me that they've been separating people, checking their temps, all sorts of ****. But now it's just straight up closed and he's off work.

If the countries where the infection is really bad closed down airports and all public transit and forced people to stay home a while and actually enforced it there wouldn't be so many new cases. That's how the **** spreads. Plus people are off work so they're bored at home and go out with their whole yoga class or whatever to the park while the Mexicans play soccer. Yet I've seen less cops on the road that on a normal day. Oh well, at least we'll get our $1,200 a piece. If PiS did the same and gave everyone like 4k zloty they'd be more popular than ever.

I would say, Belgium is in a much worse condition (spent couple of useless days there on a car while Condor plane that should bring my friends from Dominican republic to Brussels was stranded on Jamaica due to weather). They are saying the peak infection rate should come this week in Poland. Judging by the spike in numbers over the last few days then a larger one yesterday, I have to believe this is true. If the peak is this week though, things will start getting back to a new normal by the end of April here. While in USA, the peak is probably 2 weeks away, and normal is probably June or July. The speed in which this thing traveled is incredible. Calling people home from abroad for every country was just plain stupid, I have to believe this accelerated things everywhere.

There is no talk of a "peak" here in Germany, nor in Italy, Spain or France...

I personally doubt there will a stop till we have a vaccination, not to mention a cure!

I don't know exactly, but it's not about there not being any new cases, but about slowing down the rate of new infections. I read that in Germany when the number of infected people doubles every 10 days, they will consider that the peak is behind them (currently it doubles every 5,5 days).

What really scares me is that sometimes there are no symptoms or the symptoms are too similar to those of a regular cold or the flu. Now spring's coming. Is your allergy allergy or the virus?

This is not something that will go away. It will be similar to smallpox, and once there is a vaccine for it, everyone will get it. It will likely be one of those required vaccines for every child to gain admission to school. I watched a very interesting program on this last night aptly named Virus.

Mid May is the peak in USA from what I have read. In Poland Ministry of Health is predicting this week and next. Simply because of the early measures taken by the country. Looking at the daily rates, they have been pretty spot on with their earlier predictions.

Krakow is deserted this morning. Waling from Galleria Krakowska to Hala Targowa, I counted 9 people on the street at 8:00 am. Typically many more over the last two Sundays on that same walk. People here taking this very seriously. Empty trams, completely empty, going down the street.

I hope they modified the timetables to adapt to the situation.
