Coronavirus in Poland

Torq
9 Mar 2020  #151

Last year, more than 80,000 people died of the flu and its complications in the United States

It's a question of how widespread a given virus is. In case of flu mortality rate is 0.1%. If coronavirus spreads as much as flu, then with 5% mortality rate it can mean 4 million deaths in the US. Also, the changes in lungs are irreversible, even in those who recover, and there are cases of people released from hospitals who got sick again.

This virus is not a flu - only the first symptoms are similar, but then it becomes much more serious.

with 5% mortality rate it can mean 4 million deaths in the US

Probably more, given their lack of a Health Service.

Hopefully in Poland, as in Europe as a whole, the virus' spread and effects will be addressed more carefully and sensibly...

you might be still spot on with your age-theory about Italy's high mortality rate.

Theory reclaimed from wastebasket.

I see that Spain has 25 deaths, all above 69 years old.

, the changes in lungs are irreversible,

What kind of changes? This could be the most concerning thing about this virus.

Probably more, given their lack of a Health Service.

In rural areas there aren't nearly as many hospitals as urban areas, but that should be obvious since there's less population. Other than that there isn't a lack of health services in the US. If you need medical care in the US, you'll get it. Hospitals are legally obliged to care for anyone who needs it. You've been mislead if you've been told otherwise.

This virus develops to a kind of a "weeder".....it leaves the kids, young and healthy alone (even infected) and kills mainly only the old and sick....a field day for the Darwinists!

That could mean that the western countries (+Japan) with such unfavourable demographics will in the end pay the highest prices, no matter what they do...compared to much younger societies in Asia and Africa...

(I'm just in puberty and strong like an ochs btw.)

I can't wait for the anti-virus to come out for the Chinavirus.
Someone will make a fortune not to mention that the first billion people to get it will be guinea pigs only to learn years later that the cure was worse than the curse.

Injecting organisms into your body to provoke immunity...... vaccination carries huge capacity to do serious damage to your health.
Just like the damn flu shots that they push that never seems to be the one for the flu that develops for that season and only 5% effective.

And when someone that has been vaccinated with the flu shot still gets the flu they say, "well it would have been a lot worse without the vaccine". lol

NEVER have I got a flu shot nor ever will I get a flu shot.
I ask many doctors what is in a flu shot and NONE of them knew besides, "it prevents the flu."
I guess I am just old school wanting to know what my government is injecting into my body.
When the anti-china virus injections come out I will be saying, "You go first."

Urban societies are more at risk due to people living in close quarter; as the virus spreads the pattern of infection will be clearer.

NEVER have I got a flu shot nor ever will I get a flu shot.

Agreed 100%.
Same here.

What kind of changes? This could be the most concerning thing about this virus.

It causes severe pulmonary fibrosis, which later develops into lung tumors. The virus is basically a combination of SARS and HIV (it has 4 basic proteins exactly the same as HIV, that's why it's so deadly to the immune system). If all that doesn't make sense in English, I apologise - that's what a family friend (retired doctor) told me in Polish, and it's my attempt at translating it.

vaccinated with the flu shot still gets the flu they say, "well it would have been a lot worse without the vaccine". lol

My wife got vaccinated against flu five or six years ago, and the same year she had the worst flu of her life.

It causes severe pulmonary fibrosis, which later develops into lung tumors.

Could that mean that the today infected but still healthy kids are going straight to lung cancer later in life?

If so Covid-19 might become the Pest of our age...

@Torq

I'm hoping you botched the translation, because what you describe is a tad scary.

Injecting organisms into your body to provoke immunity...... capacity to do serious damage to your health

I know, just think how much better off we'd be if there wasn't vaccines. A decent, honest man could still run a halfway decent chance of contacting polio, tuberculosis, rubella, mumps, measles, hepatitis a and b, etc, etc, etc. But, nooooooooooooooo, those damn vaccines had to come along and ruin everything.

I'm just in puberty

:). Now that explains a lot!!! :):)

*nods*....reminds me about the unvaccinated child in the doctor's waiting room, the pregnant woman near by which got infected with measles by this kid was surely glad to lose her baby in her womb then...vaccination just sucks!

if there wasn't vaccines.

UNNESSESSARY VACCINES I should have said since you nit pickers like to argue the obvious.
I was talking about the 72 vaccinations a child is given by the time they are five years old.
Since every vaccination contains MERCURY maybe you could tell us how much mercury is injected into a child by the time they are five years old.

I guess I should have explained better what I meant when I said, "and vaccination carries huge capacity to do serious damage to your health."

How many children today suffer from mercury symptoms of anxiety, depression, irritability, memory problems.

got infected with measles by this kid was surely glad to lose her baby in her womb then...

How sad if true.

It happens all the time....there are anti-vaccinaters running amok in Germany too....in consequence we even have a rebirth of already-thought-died-out sicknesses and diseases. It has become so bad that the health ministry has fallen back to ordering vaccinations per law!

dw.com/en/germany-makes-measles-vaccination-compulsory/a-51243094

You might be able to decide for your own which vaccination is useful and which not...but you can't decide that for everybody else! This mother might have thought the measles vaccination for her kid unnecessary, her pregnant neighbour surely had wished it to be different!

You have to remember, a vaccination is not only about you but also about guarding others around you. It will be the same with a Covid-19 vaccination. It will be also for all these people who have other sicknesses, which are not as strong and healthy, they deserve a life too!

just think how much better off we'd be if there wasn't vaccines

We wouldn't be.

there are anti-vaccinaters running amok in Germany too

We have them too. They are a nuisance' a deadly nuisance. On a par with the nomarks who think autism can be 'cured' with bleach enemas, or that 'colloidal silver' and 'black salve' are anything other than quackery.

The same people are vocally, deliberately and irresponsibly downplaying the danger of Covid-19.

Well some may say that it will get rid of the brexiteer coffin dodgers and hospital bed blockers, just think of the equity and property that would be released to the younger generation who are struggling for housing and cash, a grandpa and grandma wipe out might be the solution to their problems.

Ooops was that a bit radical, but as they say every cloud has a silver lining.

jon357
9 Mar 2020  #166

Well some may say that it will get rid of the brexiteer coffin dodgers and hospital bed blockers

As you may have seen, Professor June Andrews, a retired government health advisor, got in hot water for saying just that. Doctors often like gallows humour...

the equity and property that would be released

The value of which would probably go down.

It's amazing how much odd information is circulating about Covid-19. Here in Poland people have been sharing a video by someone they think is a famous Doctor. The guy is in fact a quack 'chirpractor' who peddles fake cancer cures.

Best to follow official advice.

Me too!

Here's an interesting article...

The value of which would probably go down.

Which is a good thing for those in need, its tough for youngsters these days., plenty of big houses in Poland with maybe one or two old duffers in it (like mine for example) and loads of young family's in cold damp expensive flats.

Don't forget those who survived the great plagues thrived , plenty of freed up resources and employment to be had, just google it.

....that will only lead to much more invited young (male) muslims and africans! ;)

In Germany they are already not enough laborers...

dolnoslask
9 Mar 2020  #170

young (male) muslims! ;)

I don't see how the muslim religion and it's migrants is relevant to Poland, yes maybe Germany would have a need for even more Muslim workers to satisfy it's needs, but it wouldn't be anything new' .

I think Poland would imprort Ukrains (as it does now) and even ruskies before it needed to look further abroad.

jon357

Don't forget those who survived the great plagues thrived

The death rate in the Black Death upset the social order; labourers could demand higher wages and the weathy were in any case decimated due to greater exposure to the disease.

I'm not sure about Poland, however in some other parts of Europe private jet charters have steeply increased. The rich fleeing.

jon357

No, not really. Hard to see any government here doing that.

We have never been in such a situation before!

mafketis

Germany would have a need for even more Muslim workers to satisfy it's needs,

Shouldn't it get the ones it has already to work doing something more productive than selling kebabs and drugs? What's the point of importing a labor force that doesn't (or can't) do productive work?

dolnoslask
9 Mar 2020  #176

; labourers could demand higher wages and the weathy were in any case decimated

And there was nothing wrong for them to expect a living wage and a route out of slavery to the landowners and a life of poverty , maybe a NATURAL purge of the bourgeois is not a bad thing, think about it.

Bratwurst Boy
9 Mar 2020  #177

Shouldn't it get the ones it has already to work doing something more productive

You mean like the work programs and directed labour of our socialist past? In the worst case it could come to that....or that will be the starting point of the long expected digitalizaton of our industries...not many humans more needed...totally computerized work processes.

It could very well be that Covid-19 might spell the end of the free-for-all extremely interdependent globalization and the beginning of the robot-age!

jon357
9 Mar 2020  #178

a living wage and a route out of slavery to the landowners

Nothing wrong at all in expecting (and taking firm steps to getting) the full fruits of ones labour.

I doubt anything so dramatic will happen here in Poland. The effect on the forthcoming election is however hard to predict.

9 Mar 2020  #179

I'm not sure about Poland

This coronavirus panic is a Godsend for a ruling party in Poland. What people do in time of crisis (even a fake one like in case of coronavirus)?

They cling to their leaders. They expect action to be taken and effective solutions to be provided to battle the threat. All of which only a ruling party can provide since they've got all the administrative tools.

dolnoslask
9 Mar 2020  #180

Ruskies? Really?

Ok maybe not , but i'm sure German labourers would be very welcome in Poland, better place to be , I think Poland would be a safer bet after a viral near extinction event.
