Poland under pressure of EU to accept more asylum seeking refugees

His family probably had some kinds of connections without official ties. That was a situation that was not rare.

Yes, it's quite possible. Or they were possibly members of the satellite parties - it's often forgotten about that other political parties did exist in Poland outside of the PZPR. From what I remember, you could hold high up positions in one of the myriad of organisations allied to the PZPR without being a Party member as well.

I'm not a rabid anti-communist, but someone didn't belong to the upper tiers in society then without being compliant in some way.

Most lost everything, but were allowed to keep on working there if they had a business and were paid a wage. They still were treated as the owners by the customer and such - but when their property was returned to them in the 90s it was generally in ruins.

My wife's family owned the town cinema and shops. All were trashed in communism.

Adrians' family would most likely get short shrift from the FIL and his pals in the mines, who turned down directorships, as it would have meant accepting the Party card.

" Since 2011 net migration into the UK has shot up again and is now at record levels. Muslims in the UK are on average much younger than the rest of the population - about half of British Muslims are under the age of 25. There is a very rapid demographic change taking place and it is likely to accelerate. The next census in the UK is scheduled for 2021.

So, as I say, it is difficult to predict what will happen in the future, but all the trends are going one way."

How's that working out for them?

Terribly - the police and Swedish media have been caught downplaying crimes committed by migrants - especially rapes and assaults on women. Ahh the wonderful Religion of Peace.

but someone didn't belong to the upper tiers in society then without being compliant in some way.

We didn't belong to the upper tiers though. We were upper middle class but not wealthy by any means. We only had 1 family member, some cousin or uncle, who worked in the mines because of the promise of high wages but was killed there. Upper middle class in Polish communism meant having a maluch, a half decent vodka on the weekends, and a little meat with every dinner - not exactly the apex of wealth and power. It wasn't till the later 90's and 2000's when my family gained more wealth and it was through businesses that took a lot of time and hard work to develop.

So what was your joke about 200 dollars to make customs look the other way? This shows your ignorance of the times., because that was a mighty dollop of dosh in the 80s. One of my pals earned the equivalent of 8000 dollars in London working as a carpenter, and with that built a pretty fine house in Warsaw (with his own skills tis true) on land that his grandad gave him.

And now a lot of people have buggered off, and Poland faces a demographic time bomb, and all you can do as a mooted solution is to bleat about the dangers of "darkies" and "terrorists" when discussing how Poland is going to fill the population void.

As well as give totally erroneous numbers of mythical Ukrainians who magically live here according to your "research."

ha! nice try, what about the "there's too many people in the world have less children" lefties constantly push. Poland will manage fine

Ahh the wonderful Religion of Peace.

The national television of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has aired a video in which a self-styled Islamic family doctor is seen teaching men in the country how to 'properly' beat their wives.

The video is believed to have been aired in the country in early February 2016.
The Kingdom's government is said to have approved the video and that is why it was given airtime on national television.
Another reason Poland doesn't want to deal with such a culture.

"Another reason Poland doesn't want to deal with such a culture"

Indeed. Everyday here i see different reasons about WHY Poland should not deal with Middle East.

"Poland and my family owns millions of dollars of businesses around Poland - delis, meat export, agriculture, metal fabrication, real estate, and one of the largest (if not the largest) hotel in the Katowice area. "

If your nickname was AdrianM instead of AdrianK i would say that i am pretty sure that i know who you are.

70% to over 80% with highest numbers being unaccepting of a gay priest

Nonsense. Poles gloss over the fact that Kaczynski is gay, so they also refuse to see the obvious in their priest. Not that it would matter one jot, but they couldn't ostracise their priest for being closet homosexual. Seeing as a very high percentage are actually gay, that would be difficult in reality, wouldn't it?

Seeing as a very high percentage are actually gay,

Talking BS again.

Poles gloss over the fact that Kaczynski is gay,

Who cares if he is one or not? You and your kind have some unhealthy obsessions with homosexuality, sometimes it came up with discriminatory laws and heave penalties for them and sometimes as granting them privileges. All that upsy daisy is just alien to Poles who don't really care...

AdrianK9
11 May 2016  #2412

Nonsense

Here's the proof that you refuse to accept reality:

CBOS 2013 poll - 60% do not support registered partnerships for same sex couples, 68% do not support same sex marraige, 87% do not support adoption by same sex couples.

cbos.pl/SPISKOM.POL/2013/K_024_13.PDF

Another 2013 poll from Homo Homini poll came up with similar figures - 69% do not support gay marraige, 84% do not support adoption by gay couples
se.pl/wiadomosci/polska/sondaz-super-expessu-o-zwiazkach-partnerskich-polacy-przeciw-mazenstwom-homo_304814.html

CEAPP says only 23% of people support registered partnerships of same sex couples and 65% do not.
spoleczenstwoobywatelskie.gov.pl/sites/default/files/rtsdr_prezentacja_wybranych_wynikow_-_slajdy_oraz_ich_opisy_2.pdf

This other poll, granted a bit old (2005) confirmed that Poles do not accept gay priests, teachers, or child minders. 75% do not accept a gay teacher, 86% do not support a gay child minder, and 82% do not support gay priests.

being closet homosexual

More distortions and half-truths designed to smear Catholicism?! You're an expert at that, aren't you?
To reiterate for the umpteenth time, the Church teaches that homosexuality itself is not a sin but an afflicition. It is deviant sexual practices that are sinful and doubly depraving if they set a bad example. As long as abstinence is maintained, all is under control.

Like or dislike what kind of criterion is that?
Nobody ask you to kiss them or go to bed with them. Grown ups don't really care one way or the other, maybe boys in their 20' are more sensitive to the subject cause their feel the need to reassess their masculinity.

Whether the Poles like poofs or not isn't really the point. You either want Poland to be part of the west, warts and all, or you don't. Poland is not an isolated island which can cherry pick which economic or social standards of the outside world it incorporates into its own society. It's all or nothing. If you want to be protected from the evil west, build a freakin' wall. Oh, someone tried that already...

I don't and there's an ever increasing anti-west, anti-eu atmosphere in Poland.

Poland is not an isolated island which can cherry pick which economic or social standards of the outside world it incorporates into its own societ

Yes it can - it is a sovereign country. It will be influenced with outside ideas, but that doesn't mean it needs to change it's laws, customs, and traditions. The people and government decide what they do or don't want. For example, the people and government have decided they don't want Muslim migrants and gay marriage.

TheOther
11 May 2016  #2419

That's not what I said, Adrian. Since Poland cannot (and doesn't want to) isolate itself from the rest of the world, new residents as well as new ideas, values and customs will slowly influence and change Polish culture from within - whether certain people here like that or not. It makes no sense whatsoever to complain about a rapidly changing world. Only old farts who live in the past do that.

I have noticed this, especially Poles who have returned from working in England, shame because Poland is ding well on the back of EU cash, we should make the most of it while it lasts, lets hope there is no Brexit to reduce the cash flow.

As well as give totally erroneous numbers of mythical Ukrainians who magically live here according to your "research."

What are you talking about - I've admitted that there's a good amount of Ukrainians that work here - the permanent residents are significantly smaller. The sources that I am using: Marta Jaroszewicz, a migration expert at the Centre For Eastern Studies (OSW), an independent Warsaw thinktank funded by the Polish government. She estimates that there are now 300,000-400,000 Ukrainians in Poland, as many as twice the officially recognised number.

Same source I listed earlier -
theguardian.com/world/2015/may/13/ukraines-refugees-find-solace-in-poland-europes-most-homogenous-society
en.europeinsight.net/polish-business-calls-for-residence-permits-to-ukrainian-immigrants

So what was your joke about 200 dollars to make customs look the other way?

I know - that's why I said in the case a border guard you didn't need connections to drive through the border with a trunk full of western goods under Communism. The only reason we even had dollars is because my parents, especially my mom, spent a considerable amount of time in the US.

dangers of "darkies" and "terrorists" when discussing how Poland is going to fill the population voi

Polish people aren't going to go extinct first off. There's more than enough young people that are eager to stay in the country and build it up. We don't need to import 3rd world diseased scum. Plus, we have Ukranians that have occupied low skilled, low paying jobs. I haven't seen the Muslim hordes contributing to any European country yet - all I see is them turning cities into semi autonomous sharia zones, committing crimes, dealing drugs, raping women and even children, assaulting non-Muslims and demanding that the culture be changed to accommodate their views that crosses and skirts on high school girls are offensive... Earlier people challenged me when I said that hotels and apartments were confiscated by the German government to be turned into migrant shelters and I have clearly used sources to demonstrate that this is fact and reality.

Levi my middle name starts with 'M' but I highly doubt you know me.

It makes no sense whatsoever to complain about a rapidly changing world. Only old farts who live in the past do that.

I totally agree - but it doesn't mean we should also import things like Muslim economic migrants, GMO foods, and lobbyists. Polish society ought to decide what it wants and doesn't want for its own people - yes there will be good with the bad. Under Communism, there was little drug use - now it's pretty common in Poland. However, that's often the price of an open society and it's something you can't really prevent from coming in. However, Poland can take preventative measures to not have the same kind of issues facing Germany, France, Belgium, etc. while still having an open society and an internationally competitive economy. I just don't want my country to become like the US and have lobbyists running the country or like France, Belgium, Germany etc. where beautiful neighborhoods have been turned into Muslim ghettos and women can't even go to a concert on New Year's without being fondled.

TheOther

Those are of course political decisions, that might make sense under certain circumstances or not. Poland is an EU member though, so it cannot decide alone in many cases.

Muslim economic migrants

What do you think about Muslims who are born in the EU and are citizens of a member state? You cannot prevent them from moving to Poland and settling there. And as Molenbeek has shown us, there are quite a few radicalized folks among them. So do you want to block Muslim Brits or French for example from entering Poland? If that's the plan, Poland would have to leave the EU.

AdrianK9
12 May 2016  #2423

Muslims from the west don't really come to Poland. Poland is being depicted as this crazy national a list xountry, even by clowns like Bono, because the west wants Poland to adapt to their version of liberal democracy. That's why there's all this attack in the media on Poland. Many people though are very supportive of the Visegard 4s policies as they pertain to the migrant crisis. Many in western Europe say they wish their leaders acted the same way and wouldn't of allowed Europe to be flooded. Look for example how popular AfD has become all of a sudden.

There's certainly a move to the far right in Europe at the moment, and the established politicians are to blame for the current situation. Let's wait and see what the Brits will do on June 23rd. I wouldn't be surprised if the Germans will be the next ones to leave next year.

Szalawa

I feel as it is more of a movement away from the far left and more of a movement to the center, but I suppose it is all about perspective.

Them and the media, whipping issues that inflame the stupid into something bigger than they are. The last UK election results from Thursday show that there isn't any far-right resurgence there and elsewhere in Europe, splitting the conservative vote can only be good for the political centre left.

Western Europe wants to change Poland, to make Poland in accordance with their interests and, for that western Europe needs new settlers in Poland. Simple, western European magnates and part of public don`t like Poles and even hate them. That is why pressure on Poland to accept great number of refugees. Actually, when one look at historical perspective, western Europeans never loved Poles but hated them.

delphiandomine

No, we really don't. The majority of Poles experienced what East has to offer and they don't want it back.

The only people that want Poland to be in the Russian sphere of orbit are traitors.
