Poland under pressure of EU to accept more asylum seeking refugees

Lyzko

We tend to be all more afraid of AfD than of Le Pen, given Germany's "recent" past, whereby France was one of the Allies:-)

Plainly and simply, Germany (rather like Poland) has little of the melting-pot experience of former colonial powers such as Britain or France, not to add, the blended society of the United States, so all these refugees, starting with the Greeks in the late '50's, followed by the Turks in the 60's and early 70's, everything within a time span of slightly under sixty years out of seven THOUSAND years as a nation founded by Teutonic peoples, is a wee bit more than most ordinary Germans can cope with and they're getting overwhelmed!

Merkel's a cockeyed idealist with good intentions, but ******** execution who expects way too much from her fellow citizens.

For better/worse Germany should be able to financially shoulder this. They have been accumulating a nice pot of extra funds on the assumption it would be used to improve Germany - well instead it will be used to try and help Millions of foreigners integrate. Germans are historic "money savers" so one could argue this is Merkel's way of forcing greedy Germans to spend their money.

The bigger fear is demographic replacement (because of shrinking birth rates) will result in political change which will then democratically alter society and eventually culture. Westerners will be hung by their own "democratic elections" rope once demographics hit a certain point.

I already see it happening in the towns around me.

The muslim electorate is still very much in the minority but the difference is that many of them do vote and when they vote then generally vote for Labour. Labour know this very well and pander to the community in a sickening fashion at times e.g. I received a "Happy Eid" card through my door last year from my local MP and when I questioned this he told me that it was a mistake (obviously). He went on to explain that a small number of muslim councillors had volunteered to send the cards out and although he didn't admit to this but they clearly looked ay my name and guessed wrongly that it was Islamic hence the greeting card through my door.

My MP wasn't interested when I made the point that the muslim councillors were voted in to represent all sections of the community and not just muslims and whether they would be making a similar effort handing out cards to Christians at Easter masses. My MP replied that that would not be appropriate.....

but at the moment I think Germans are again being lulled into naive self assurance because the migrant stream has slowed and Germany avoided large scale attacks.

True and very frustrating. It's easy to blame politicians and god knows they deserve it but it's the normal people on the street who are really to blame as they keep voting for them. Apathy is one of the worst traits a society can have

A lot easier said than done, nothanks!

I've stated and re-stated that Merkel's clearly failed migrant policies are a direct result of her entire generation's attempt to assuage their feelings of insurmrountable guilt for the Holocaust and the by and large apathetic reaction by a majority in her country after WWII, until at least 1968, that watershed year for protests around the world, not the least of which took place in Germany:-)

Merkel, Steinmeier, Gauck (NOT Koehler), and Schroeder were all post-War babies, raised in an atmosphere of deep-seated ambivalence about their past, their identity, their future as Germans, much less as Europeans.

In trying to reverse this irreversible history, Merkel has bucked the trend of other European countries, traditionally liberal, such as Sweden, Holland, Denmark, and France, who have moved far to the right, nearly as far as Hungary's Orban or Slovakia's right wing.

They are the first right wing party in Germany since WW2

That's clearly not true. The CDU was very right wing in the early years (up until the era of Willy Brandt or so, and even afterwards), and the CSU is very much a traditional conservative party to this day.

Did you know that EVERY crime committed in Germany is counted as "right-wing", as long as there is no overwhelming proof of the opposite?

Sounds like total bollocks to me.

During the 1950's, a bunch of ultra-right wing national socialist sympathizers and former Nazi partiers, led by a certain Otto Remer, morphed later on into the better known "ODESSA" organization:-) That is to say, a number of Remer's supporters/adherents, a group of whom numbered among their ranks leading police officials, politicians etc. eventually became part of the ODESSA. At that time, they too decried allowing Spaniards,Italians, (the so-called 'Katzelmacher' or literally 'purse makers'), and of course, Greeks, into the then still fledgling Federal Republic!

This should be brought out as well.

My apologies. I should have stated first "Far-Right" party in Germany since WW2 but above post seems to also dispel that.

Lyzko
7 Apr 2017  #2709

Indeed, it merely complements it:-) Although the exact party name of Remer's organization escapes me presently, his was the first of the supra-rightist radical groups following the end of the War (not including the so-called "Werwolves" immediately after Germany's surrender in '45) and wielded considerable influence in a government already chocked full of former Nazis aka Adenauer's, with men such as Gerhard Schroeder (no relation), Dr. Globke who helped draft the Nuremberg Laws, along with a host of others, some of whom subsequently were indicted on war crimes charges et al.

In the end, the issue of asylum seekers throughout Europe remains a serious problem which continues to dog the EU, particularly Chancellor Merkel.

Just today, that fatal bomb attack in Stockholm by a suspected Al-Khaidist, merely underscores the need to root out ISIS. Difficulty is though that zealous intentions may in the end ferret out the wrong folks too!

ISIS? those are no ISIS fighters..those are polite Muslim neighbours.they were killing before ISIS existed and they will continue after ISIS is gone.

acctually ISIS helped Europes terrorism problem, cus lots radicals went there to Syria and died.
if not for the suffering of Syrian people,it would be sensible to keep ISIS alive,so they would drag some madman there to the desert and then keep killing this scum

Unless you're being sarky, which is entirely possible, how is "there is no ISIS" etc.. make a damned bit of sense???!
If you're on something, tell all, and maybe we can both get sloshed togetherLOL

Merged:

Poland rejects EU-imposed refugee quotas, is helping where it counts

Poland will not be blackmailed by compulsory EU refugee quotas. PM Beata Szydło has said. Poland has rejected suggestions that it may be punished politically and financially by the European Union for not accepting refugee/migrants. After hordes of migrants poured into Germany, Chancellor Angela Merkel, who had initially welcomed them, prevailed upon the EU to force other countries to admit specific quotas. Poland's previous government agreed to take some 7,000 but was soon voted out of office. The present Polish government contends that it has issued work and residence permits to 1.3 million Ukrainians who have found jobs and housing and, unlike Muslim migrants, create few problems. Any Middle Eastern/African migrants accepted by Central-East European countries would soon find ways to move on to Germany, Britain or Sweden, known for generous welfare handouts.

The Prime Minister redcently announced that her government planned to spend some four million złotys (about $1 million) to help rebuild homes in war-torn Syria. The ad hoc aid package is to be implemented in cooperation with the Church in Need organization. ""The Polish government is not indifferent to what is happening in parts of the world engulfed by war." Szydło said. Poland's Middle East aid to Syria nad Iraq amounted to 12.8 million złotys ($3.2 million) in 2015, rose to 46 million zł ($11.5 million) in 2016 and is expected to exceed that figure this year. Polish volunteers in the Middle East help build schools, hospitals and housing as well as dig wells and provide healthcare.

I do agree in principal, by the way, that no nation should be forced either to take in refugees if they choose not to, or to have a quota of said refugees arbitrarily imposed upon them, at least not without a good old-fashioned referendum!

The full of crap media never mentions uki refugees in Poland in such vast numbers. They don't mention them at all. They wonder why they retrench more people every day as their full of crap media empire melts. Not only can you get info on the net easier it is more accurate if you know what you are doing. People in western nations are being fed bs by the ton in regard to this. If i was pis i would be demanding a quota system on ukis in the eu, not arabs which can be sent to usa or Britain or one of the countries destroying the place. Merkel just stuffed up.

Let's all hope and pray that Merkel learns from her missteps. The alternative though, is far worse!!

As cruel as it sounds, we must face it, the population of the world is unsustainable.
And the poorest of countries breed like rats.
Then they migrate to responsible literate countries to get free support to survive.
What we need is a good war or decease to wipe about 5 or 6 BILLION of these rats off the face of the earth so the responsible people can live in peace and have a quality life that we have worked for.

The rats are destroying the worlds economy, cultures, enviro system and food supplies.
Send them back to where the hell they came from until they learn that if you can't feed them then don't breed them.

alternative though

If you are referring to crypto-Marxist Comrade Schultz, I wholeheartedly agree!

Lyzko
12 Apr 2017  #2722

Schultz ain't perfect, not by a long stretch, but he'll doubtless be more effective than Merkel could ever be.

Like Hillary, Merkel's too much on grandstanding, photo-ops, and platitudes. The 60's are long over and she'd got to realize that good intentions only go so far!

TheOther
12 Apr 2017  #2723

You're kidding, right? Should the SPD or the Greens ever get into power again, you can kiss Germany and Europe goodbye. There's an old saying in Germany originating in the 1930's: "Wer hat uns verraten? Die Sozialdemokraten!" Who betrayed us? The Social Democrats! You couldn't describe Schultz and his party any better. They are deluded do gooders who will simply open the floodgates and let another 5 million migrants (this time called "family members") in.

Lyzko
12 Apr 2017  #2724

That's of course your opinion to which you are entitled.

Again, Schulz' a bit of an odd man out, even in German politics. Many are bothered by the fact that he entered the entire arena of politics, sort of, how shall we say, "schraeg durch" instead of through the traditional front door, having trained for his chosen profession from the bottom up like everyone else. Maybe you're one of them, I really don't know, nor do I care especially.

I will say though, that sometimes, it's good to have someone who understands failure along with success. He's far from perfect, he's even made known his bouts of alcoholism. I think though that he'll be more forceful then Merkel, and YES, I do believe that the EU is there for a common core European agenda.

Imagine Germany without an EU to reign her in and it's 1933 all over again, when yet another Trump-like maverick thought that he too was somehow above the law etc.

At the risk of being simplistic here, wouldn't you rather a Martin Schulz, even a Sigmar Gabriel than a Frauke Petry ("Shoot any undocumented alien at Germany's border on sight!") or a Bjoern Hoecke ("Germany is the only country in the world with a monument to shame in the middle of her capital city.")??!

Think about it. Don't always wish for what you (think you) want; you just might get it:-)

Lyzko

That's of like saying I'd like a Franz Josef Strauss, only please without the nationalistic swagger and blustery bravado:-) What would you be left with? Your guess is as good as mine. Merely another colorless, pc German politico, I expect.

Apropos Herr Seehofer, you can take the boy out of the Almenrausch, but you can't take the Almenrausch out of the boy! lol

Europe needs level-headed politicians who are able to solve the problems without breaking the EU apart. Left wing parties like the German SPD or right wing organizations like the Front National in France are not the solution.
