The prime minister of the DPR is a Russian citizen from Moscow who describes himself as a professional consultant who got involved in east Ukraine in a private capacity.

After visiting the Malaysia Airlines crash site, he suggested the plane had been downed by the Ukrainian air force.

Before coming to Donetsk, he says he worked as a "political strategist" in Crimea, reportedly for the pro-Russian rebel leadership there.

He tries to bat off allegations that he is working for the Russian security services. "Even if I were, do you think I'd answer?" he once told reporters.

Good to see Barney yet again trying to excuse his terrorist friends murdering civilians; how soon before he claims that the Ukrainian government bombed Dublin? After all, he's already claimed his English opponents did that.

Serbia prepares to mediate in Ukrainian-Russian conflict.

Don't hold your breath on it... As much as the two countries likes each other.
This is extraordinary incident (with the downed airliner) and Russia will protect it's own image at all costs, for it's own interests and those of the rebels.

BTW from the link you have provided, I have read other articles, and I see that Serbians are flipping. Where is the Chetnik spirit?
But this is not for this thread (drop me a PM or I will)

everyone knows about it, funny how at the same time you avoided the mention of downing of a korean airliner by Soviet Union back in the 80's, so desperate to shift the focus... pathetic borderline distasteful.

I share your concerns but that Korean airliner was well off course and bad weather. I vividly remember that I wasn't happy about the incident myself back then

some interesting read

"The men of the Vincennes were all awarded Combat Action Ribbons for completion of their tours in a combat zone"

There were no rebels in that scenario but two military powers on high alert situation. Yes the USS Vincennes screwed up.

Having said that.. @gregy741 Have you ever served in any armed forces? Are you familiar with defense doctrine of the US fleets (usually with the carrier as the heart)

The principle is that the the Aircraft Carrier is priceless and must be protected at all costs. There are few lines of defense, first cruisers. frigates destroyers, submarines and warplanes to the the aircraft it'self. with high rate/cyclic guns with radar at list 50 calibers

the Cruisers (most of them with AEGIS system) however are the first to respond, there is very little time to make a decision and respond. Yes they screwed up. but **** happens in wars.

Better save then sorry

you realise they were on teritorial waters of Iran?

Yes they screwed up. but **** happens in wars

same can be said about rebels,i am merely pointing about different response (regarding similar accidents,)and USA in particular

Better save then sorry

wow..am speechless, say that to those families who lost relatives.
they even refuse to apology, and awarded marines for this, its like spit into face of people who lost loved ones

But this is not for this thread (drop me a PM or I will)

but this is in connection to this thread. We speak about events in Ukraine, in case with current crisis

Things are simple. At the first moment of conflict armed Serbian Chetniks appeared to relax situation among local population of Serbian origin (there was Serbian district during Russian Empire in what is now Ukraine) and, to send signal to all sides involved in conflict that there are specific Serbian interests in the region too, that should be understand. Now, after its first reaction, considering that population of Serbian descent isn`t targeted, Serbs demonstrate its neutrality. It is necessary because primarily Serbian interest in the region is PEACE.

If Russia wants to get out with dignity from this conflict, it would be possible only if Russia openly start to take in consideration stance of all Slavs who have interest to take some role in founding way to calm this situation. That means that Russia needs to take in consideration position of Poland, Serbia, Czech Republic, Slovakia,... and, to start to negotiate with Ukraine. Of course, all i said here what goes for Russia, goes for Ukrainian government, too.

Russia should focus on demands that coming from within Slavic world, not on demands that coming from outside. Strangers aren`t competent, not in moral, not in any sense. We Slavs are competent. Let Russia show its respect for the word of other Slavs. Ukraine, should do the same.

Yes i do, Iranian Navy could engaged them. During war or high alerts crossing territorial waters is very common.

No, you are wrong, they are rebels not recognized by any country, plus by shooting at high flying "object" they did not try to protect anything, unlike US Cruiser protecting the Aircraft Carrier

wow..am speechless, say that to those families who lost relatives.

Yeah, the same can be said of bombing Dresden during WW II.
Russian troops going on raping rampage (with Stalin consent) in Berlin for few days after the war ended. Yeah, the boys deserved some fun after long war..

i hope that you understand what i talking about. EU/NATO leading powers ignoring specific interests and approach of Poland and Serbia. Public media of USA and west of Europe creating picture that only important things that has to be said about Ukraine coming from Germany, Britain, USA, official EU. Now, Russia should do exactly the opposite. Russia should encourage more active role of other Slavs. This is our Slavic sphere.

No, you are wrong, they are rebels not recognized by any country

i dont get it,so according to you being recognized by world remove responsibility ?

plus by shooting at high flying "object" they did not try to protect anything

HUH? how about hundreds of civilians killed by bombing in E.Ukraine??Rebels were convinced it was military jet,and they been hammered by those for months!!!

unlike US Cruiser protecting the Aircraft Carrier

from what??other US ships identified this as civilian jet,and that there was no threat, unlike Rebels situation in which they had no technology to identify whats flying over their heads

i gave Iranian jet accident example not to compare blame,or situation but to compare world response to similar situation that is an Accident!!!!!
in where Nobody even criticized USA ,and have understanding that some accidents happens, even tho it was USA on Iranian waters, while here world powers demanding blood!

those rebels defends themselves,made blunder

The terrorists have been given 10 days to get out of Ukraine. Ukraine declared a unilateral cease-fire, which was used by the terrorists to kill more than 20 Ukrainian soldiers. They refused to lay down arms and peacefully leave, but used the time to get more weapons from Russia. Now, they have two choices: leave the territory of Ukraine to where they came from, which is Russia, or be eliminated. After shooting down the plane with 298 people aboard, there has to be some serious international response, this terror organized by Putin cannot continue. EU cannot act lethargically anymore. Russia is a state sponsoring terrorism, equipping the terrorists with weapons and providing its own personnel. 80 children were murdered! How long can Russia terrorize the world without EU taking a stance? I know that there is going to be some economic hardships, but in a very short time you will be able to put this scum Putin down. He did the same in Georgia and if not stopped in Ukraine, he will go to the Baltic states. This Russian KGB pile of sh*t has to be stopped!

HUH? how about hundreds of civilians killed by bombing in E.Ukraine??Rebels were convinced it was military jet,and they been hammered by those for months!!!

Nobody is bombing anything from this altitude, only in the real deal war were 2 enemies are defined. it is like using B-52 in carpet bombing, or as it once happened in Cambodia that by "human error" a single B-52 bombed civilian city (I believe in 1973)

The bombing that occurred in rebels held territory were conducted by planes flying at much much lower altitude

from what??other US ships identified this as civilian jet,and that there was no threat, unlike Rebels situation in which they had no technology to identify whats flying over their heads

If they don't understand the technology or have the "know how" they shouldn't play with toys like surface-to-air missiles mobile launcher

Have you been on officer deck of the USS Vincennes? there are only seconds to decide. the captain order launching of the missile is based on of all the information that he has on his hands at that particular moment.. Maybe he got additional information when it was way too late.

Plus it was well known that the Iranians had from the Shah times F-14 Tomcats, with no parts, they were cannibalizing F-14's to make other F-14's operational and it was noted to the US officers (need to know)

So it could be that the Iranians made set up hoping for such results. Instead of emitting IFF squawks in mode 3 they were in mode 2

BTW F-14 had a long rage missiles AIM-54 Phoenix with the speeds of Mach 5 (air-to-air)

@crow Russians are self serving I don't judge all the Russians but the elite with the Putin on top.

I like Serbia and Serbian people.. Do not join the EU, once you do, hopes of getting Kosovo back will vanish forever.

(Reuters) - Gunmen prevented monitors from the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe from observing the site where a Malaysian airliner crashed in rebel-held eastern Ukraine on Friday, the rights and security watchdog said.

Calling their behavior "impolite and unprofessional", an OSCE spokesman said some gunmen in the area seemed intoxicated while others would not let the team of about 25 observers look at the wreckage of the Boeing 777.

"We had expected unfettered access, that's the way we work," Michael Bociurkiw told a news conference.

"Unfortunately the task was made very difficult. Upon arrival at the site ... we encountered armed personnel who acted in a very impolite and unprofessional manner. Some of them even looked slightly intoxicated."

This article from few months ago shocked me at that time.
I think that current borders of Poland should stay intact, once we start playing with them it is like opening Pandora Box.

Now, from what I'm seeing in bankrupt Ukraine, with no leadership, no real Army, it maybe would be not the bad idea.
I would ask Russians to add Kaliningrad oblast to sweeten the deal.

which would involve regions being incorporated into the territories of Poland, Romania and Hungary

here is the article

The EU is extending the second round of sanctions as a response to Russia's terrorism. The Ukrainian army regains part of Lugansk, major Ukrainian city close to the border with Russia. It would serve the establishment of peace and safety of people, if the UN introduced peace-keeping troops along the Ukraine-Russia border, at least for some time, to bring people back, restore order and re-build the territory and strengthen the defense. Thanks every country and its people for your support!
