If he breaks into the safe room, you fire as there is no doubt as to his intentions.

The law is complicated. I will give 2 examples. In the first one, police officers from a special unit storm a room where an armed multiple murderer is being sought in order to arrest or neutralize him. Unfortunately, they storm the right room but on the wrong floor, killing an innocent tourist. At this time, the murderer leaves the hotel undisturbed by anyone. None of the policemen are convicted. 2nd example. An armed rocker shoots through the locked door of his house, killing a special unit policeman trying to blow the door open. Rocker later explains that he thought that someone from another gang of rockers wanted to break into his house and kill him. He is acquitted.

Under German laws what is she supposed to do?

I don't know, the fact that she had a small child and there were two burglars is a mitigating factor.

Not in a normal country, she could have shot without killing. The attacker did not have a firearm, so he would have escaped. The police would catch him and put him in jail.

among them, if you or I end up killing somebody in defense of our own lives, the
law will not be well disposed to the defense of "It was either him or me", as would
be the case here at home.

Any action which carries personal ideology into the realm
of another person's health, must be curtailed and the wrongdoer

Sometimes described as neither Christian nor science. They have some good ideas about positive thinking however the hardline ones believe that disease is an illusion and refuse to visit doctors. Used to be popular, especially in America where some cynicism about doctors is partly justified due to them demanding money from patients, however it's declined a lot in membership over the past few decades. Every now and then, you read about one dying because they refused treatment.

Their founder, Mary Baker Eddy, was an odd person however some of her quotes that Christian Scientists read out every day are good ones and some people outside that religion use and like them.

Yes, they do actually have some nice ideas, including the importance of forgiveness for example. It's quite a joyful religion. The faith does not actually forbid followers from seeking medical treatment and Mrs Eddy herself was treated by doctors in her final days.

This is where the etymology of words can come in handy :) something that always interests me. The word 'science' comes from the Latin 'scientia' meaning knowledge or knowing. So scientist is simply somebody who knows. They probably mean it as somebody who 'knows' or knows Christ or the ways of Christ or whatever.
