The stupidest argument ever.
Analogizing the US going into Afghanistan with Russia going into Ukraine is also pretty stupid. Those who attacked America were in Afghanistan, harbored and protected by the Afghanistan government as they trained for acts of terrorism and paramilitary operations. Regardless of one's feelings, it's a stupid argument.
Iraq is slightly different, although there was a legitimate legal reason to take military action as Saddam continually broke the cease fire agreement by not allowing inspectors access to possible chemical, biological, and nuclear producing sites. The types of weapons Saddam proved he was willing to use, as he used chemical weapons against the Kurds. Although not as stupid as the actual invasion of Iraq, analogizing the Russian invasion of Ukraine with the US invasion of Iraq is still a little stupid.
These analogies hold no legitimacy, whereas the argument for Russian imperialism as a means of protecting itself is an honest and legitimate argument-albeit one that ends up as an argument of grave injustice.
However you slice it, this is a bs war, for bs reasons, that has absolutely no end in sight with no one showing a willingness to negotiate a viable peace. It appears that Russia is content with leaving Ukraine a pile of rubble and death and the West is happy for it to continue as a proxy war.
Putin, and only Putin, is to blame for this war, but the dearth of talented leadership in the West has exacerbated this sh!t show.
