Why AfD is the most important party in Germany

Rich Mazur
20 May 2019  #1291

Compared to my experience western democracies are the best we ever had!

Do you control what your government does? Spare me Civics 101 how you elect. You elect nothing. You elect obedient moppets. We used to elect comunists A vs communists B. The parties even had different names. That democracy was just as good as yours and ours are now. The only difference: I can buy more and leave.

By that logic, prisons are democratic because, in some, a condemned man can elect electric chair or hanging.

You elect obedient moppets.

At least MY obedient moppets! :)

The only difference: I can buy more and leave.

Don't underestimate that difference....

And the question still stands....you have a better alternative? Out with it!!!

A binding referendum that can be forced by the required number of signatures.

There.

Western democracies have referendums...just recently, in the Swiss:

Switzerland just voted overwhelmingly in favor of tighter gun control laws

qz.com/1623173/switzerland-approves-stricter-gun-laws-in-light-of-new-eu-rules/

There! :)

Rich Mazur

Do you have legally binding, voter-forced referendums?

Our communists were MY obedient moppets, too! Not funny.

Bratwurst Boy
20 May 2019  #1296

Mostly at the communal level only...

I wish we were abit more like Switzerland. On the other hand the Swiss people have a long tradition of referendums, they are "trained"...they have experiences...

Our communists were MY obedient moppets, too! Not funny.

Not true either!

I never had the feeling that our socialist party gov would work for me, or that I could give them a good ass kicking when needed come next election...

They didn't live in fear of my vote, the made us live in fear of the Stasi if we wouldn't behave...definitely not funny!

Rich Mazur

Mostly at the communal level only...

Yes, I know. You are allowed to decide when garbage is collected once a week.
So, you don't have it. That makes you as f***ed as we were under commies.

Bratwurst Boy
20 May 2019  #1298

Well...maybe here we have to agree to disagree!

Rich Mazur
20 May 2019  #1299

You mean you have better control over your rulers than just electing the moppets?

Weimarer
20 May 2019  #1300

All this meaningless.

Large parts of the population in Germany have lost trust in the government. Which starts to erode the entire system. It spreads further and further.

If i look back like 4 years ago, i could have never imagined what we have now. I was proud for my country then. And now all i see is weakness, corruption and collapse.

A regime that appears weak and it feels like our country depends 100% on the protection of others. Which is a bad feeling.

You mean you have better control over your rulers than just electing the moppets?

Did you even try to become enganged politically within your community?

Lyzko
20 May 2019  #1302

I think Rich is more politically enRAged AT his community, to be quite frank about it:-)

Rich Mazur
20 May 2019  #1303

You got that right because I see it close up daily how these idiots here are wrecking what took 200 years to build.

More specifically, I get literally sick when I see that fascination here with socialism. What really pisses me off is the irony of me running away from "socialism" just to see it chasing me all the way here. This is not the "America" I chose fifty years ago.

Did you even try to become enganged politically within your community?

I already covered it but, being a nice guy, I will run through it again:

I sent two letters to Trump offering money and time to help build the wall.
I sent over a dozen emails to Senator Durbin asking how he proposes to stop the illegal immigration.
I called his office so many times that I don't remember.
I sent at least six emails to Senator McCain. The last one to wish him cancer and quick death.
I met with the US Congressman from our district to talk about Social Security.
I drove to Nogales, Arizona, to talk to the Border Protection guys.

Now, I am just watching things in disbelief.

Lyzko
20 May 2019  #1304

Correct, Rich!

The America you voted for fifty years ago was still in the throws of 'Nam, a "war" which ought never have been, 'cuz it was never even declared a war:-)

Nixon was even more insidious than Trump, albeit umpteen times for presidential in both character, semblance, and speech!
What then has the "maverick" mentality yielded thus far?? Mike Pompeo??!

I'd go for a Kissinger or William P. Rogers any day.

Rich Mazur
20 May 2019  #1305

All true. America was all that, but not financially and demographically suicidal. Then, America knew how to count money and the Democrats were more Republican than the slimy RINO's are today. Out of wedlock black births were at 5%, not 70% like today. Pledge of Allegiance was not "hate speech". America, then, was a single-language country. Promoting open borders then would end a political career; today it's were these who*res start and push free Medicare for the world.

Huge difference between now and then. And I am just scratching the surface...

I realize this is a wrong thread but since it seems to be dead from exhaustion, the mods will tolerate this digression or move it to RANDOM.

Lyzko
20 May 2019  #1306

I rather agree, being as I grew up, that is, came of age during the '70's, at a time when American school children still were taught a stern respect for

the spoken as well as the written word by their teachers.......OR ELSE!!

The killer was digitalization in part, but we can't put a state of being on trial for murder, can we?
:-)

Rich Mazur
20 May 2019  #1307

I rather agree, being as I grew up, that is, came of age during the '70's,

I am going to pick it up in RANDOM so we will not ruin Weimarer's thread.

Lyzko
20 May 2019  #1308

That's fair.

Ziemowit
21 May 2019  #1309

so we will not ruin Weimarer's thread.

This is not about the AfD in Germany, but has anyone heard that the right-wing government of Austria has suddenly collapsed because of secret talks between one of their coalition partners and a Russian oligarch to sell him the Kroner Zeitung?

Does the AfD have any links to Russian oligarchs that support them against Frau Merkel?

Bratwurst Boy
21 May 2019  #1310

Sure...

google.com/search?safe=strict&q=afd+russia

To be fair, the far right has that in common with the far left, especially in East Germany...

There seems to be something about autocratic Putin that turnes our own wannabe autocrats really on!

I think Putin personally doesn't care where he gets his support from....he just knows that a split up, disunified Europe is better and easier to handle than a strong bloc. So he greases all extremist sides with money and trolls the same, as a precaution.

PS:

but has anyone heard that the right-wing government of Austria has suddenly collapsed

You would have to be in a coma to not have heard of it...since two days it rules all the headlines here!

Rich Mazur
21 May 2019  #1311

To be fair, the far right has that in common with the far left, especially in East Germany...

No.
"Far right" protects the tribe. "Far left" destroys in order to replace the traditional with a new and oppressive regime of their own.
"Far right" hates big government. "Far left" loves big government hoping that, one day, they will be the big government. Forever.

Bratwurst Boy
21 May 2019  #1312

"Far right" protects the tribe.

Well...that slogan just got a real bummer in Ibiza recently.

projekte.sueddeutsche.de/artikel/politik/caught-in-the-trap-e675751/

To me that doesn't sound "protective" at all...quite the contrary...he invited the Russians to support him and in the end he promised them to "share the spoils", once in power. What tribe is he protecting with that? The austrian tribe surely not!

There is a name for it: "Landesverrat"!

Even alot of FPÖ voter can't stand that and are already moving away, as actual polls show...

PS: And not only the voter are running I might add:

Austrian far-right ministers to resign en masse amid 'Ibiza-gate' fallout

euractiv.com/section/eu-elections-2019/news/austrian-far-right-ministers-to-resign-en-masse-amid-ibiza-gate-fallout/

That might be the end of the FPÖ...

21 May 2019  #1313

Fail. You are confusing means with objectives.

Bratwurst Boy
21 May 2019  #1314

Are you apologizing for Strache? WHY???

Rich Mazur
21 May 2019  #1315

No. Let me try one more time. You are confusing means with objectives.

Bratwurst Boy
21 May 2019  #1316

Explain...

Rich Mazur
21 May 2019  #1317

I will not because we will then be discussing my explanation.

Bratwurst Boy
21 May 2019  #1318

Isn't that always the case discussing in a forum? ;)

Rich Mazur
21 May 2019  #1319

That's called deflection and will not happen with my help.

Bratwurst Boy
21 May 2019  #1320

Can't be worse than you posting a statement and then officially refusing to explain it....you are a chicken!
