They have everything to be jealous about. The British are socially and even economically still a feudal society and they are all painfully aware of it.

Social mobility is nonexistent generation after generation. Even for the small few who do acquire some wealth it is always just a splinter when compared to the Amazon forest sized amount of that held by a select few. For those who do manage this tiny bump in their bank balance in their lifetime they are always left in no doubt by those higher up in the food chain that they are not one of them and never will be.

That's why British plebs foolishly try to pull the game of social rank on Americans thinking they can get away with what they think is an unsuspecting audience only to be laughed at again. And yet they have no choice but to play this losing game back in their British homeland.


It says everything about that small island that it requires a sordid sex scandal involving the abuse of vulnerable young girls in order to get noticed.

Britain chronologically is in the 21st century but still has a class structure dating back to the 11th. You can even go back further to find even earlier remnants still present in Britain today. Face the facts why don't you.

In the past really, unless you're rural (which most of the UK isn't).

Now things other than class are significant. parental background, skin colour,, etc are less important. Character, decency level of intelligence etc more so. Money talks to those who want to listen, however the one positive legacy of the class system is that money isn't everything.
