Milo, something for you - it's Sonata Arctica's cover of Fade to Black. I wonder what you'll think about this?

I love the original and I love this cover too.
They have softened the original song. But it works for me.
Thanks for sharing.

I love Jethro Tull so much that even I forgave them for Bungle in the Jungle.
I think that was probably one of their worst........I am quite surprised that you love them so much tbh, I didn't think they would be quite your thing.
High Hopes..
Brilliant, another one of my favourites :) The Nightwish version is quite good too.
A few more songs, not sure if you'll like either band, but maybe Joker will appreciate Steely Dan.
Steely Dan - The Royal Scam

Steely Dan - Haitian Divorce

@Chemikiem
This is the problem with the internet.
It is difficult to make solid connections with people as we do in real life.
I loved Jethro Tull because they were so English....I love many bands for the same reason.....Pink Floyd and Genesis come to mind.....
Genesis were perhaps more English than Floyd.....
Early Genesis was superb....
youtu.be/dUGtgPGCHYk
Some of the later stuff was pretty good too......

Yeah, bit of a classic......,had to post this!

Nice post jIm.. am surprised that a redneck like you would post a song by a black woman.
But nevertheless, pleasantly surprised...

Some of the later stuff was pretty good too......
They really hit the skids after Gabriel left and Phil Collins took over and made it bubble gum rock...
Good Genesis........
youtu.be/WFN5JwUrPqI
Horrible Genesis, they should be tarred and feathered! lol

I am surprised you even noticed in the USA, But you are right.
They did a couple of good albums after Pete Gabriel left but were rubbish after that.....

I was the biggest Genesis fan back in my H.S. days. I seen Gabriels Shock the Monkey tour, sat in first row! I went to see Genesis with Collins ( AbaCab tour) and it tedious and boring, just saying.....Collins is a hell of a drummer though. Steve Hackett was great too!

I saw no color in her beautiful voice.
Only a pinhead racist like you would take notice that she is Black.

What a clean voice.
One of my favorite.
One of my favorite.
Tracy Chapman, what an awesome song. This blues based tune was one of the only songs to hit #1 on the pop charts. I think BB Kings " the thrill is gone" was the predecessor.
Hes a blast from the past!

Horrible Genesis
No disagreement there.... you summed it up perfectly.
@Joker
You surprise me.... I had you down as as regular Electric Blues and Hard Rock fan, but it is obvious to me now that you have much broader tastes.
I am pleasantly surprised that you like some Prog Rock.
Do you go as far as Frank Zappa?
Joker

Do you go as far as Frank Zappa?
Zappa was one of the best guitarists around. His music was strange, but really complex and hard to play even for accomplished musicians.

I couldn't put it better myself..... and those two tunes you posted are probably two of his best ever.
The guy was very talented, very clever and pretty funny too.

Sorry guys but I don't share your enthusiasm for Zappa or early Genesis......
While I think about what else to post, another couple Jethro Tull ones:

Not a problem, at least we can enjoy a bit of Tull :-)
Led Zeppelin were an amazing band that managed to perform many styles of music admirably.
They did Folk. Country, Hard Rock, Metal, Funk, Prog and even Reggae. ..... but they were essentially a Blues band...
And this shows them off at their best....this is "You Shook Me"....

I don't know what it is with them, but I just can't get into them at all. I appreciate the music, i understand what makes them great, but I just can't "get" it.
Anyway, throwing this out here.

Exactly why I love them so much, they really were quite diverse.

I've never heard of Big Country - need to look into their songs; )
Neither have I heard of the other band or song you posted in another thread ;) great choice indeed.

Me as well and your posts were great too.
I've never heard of Big Country
They arrived at about the same time as U2, who were Irish, but they were Scottish.
Both bands used their different Celtic music as the base of their Rock Music and I loved them both at the time.
But I prefered Big Country over U2.
@kaprys
Black Sabbath - Paranoid.....absolute classic... Ozzy should be knighted in my opinion....
think so, it's the same reason I can't get into pre-Wish You Were Here Floyd as well :(
Yeah, age difference is the problem.
I don't like many Floyd songs after "Wish you were here".....I quite liked "Animals" but "The Wall" was a step too far for me.... I bet you loved that album...
