The main prize isn't Bakhmut itself, of course. It just became the battlefield. Wagner put an Army Corps' worth of AFU soldiers into the ground, which crippled Ukrainian efforts everywhere else, and will have big implications for future battles.

I read the other day that Ukraine now has more r*SSian tanks than r*SSia does itself.

An interesting thing today in the newspaper BTL comments fields. Normally there are some Glavset paid trolls there, usually trying t9mpretend not to be but still identifiable since they all stick to the same script and make transference errors from r*SSian. Occasionally there are ones from troll farms in cheap-labour India. Today it's different. The BTL fields are infested with them, more Glavset trolls than real posters, a new set of names and frantic hysteria.

The r*SSians know something is coming and it terrifies them.

Another truly great accomplishment, that the leftist media will never talk about. Because here in the socialist West, the only thing even more corrupt and more biased than the government, is the media.

You can't have it both ways.

The UA is the best fighting force on this side of the Atlantic when they take a town. When they lose a town, they are peasants.

Also, the towns in U's hands are strategically important and worth defending to the last standing Ukrainian. A week later when in Russia's hands (that was a Polish metaphor since Russia has no hands) a reverse Midas touch turns the same town into nothing worth mentioning.

Did you notice the regularity with which it happens?

When have I ever said that? It is putinists who tend to overly praise Ukrainian forces to make Russian army's failure look better.

In reality there are two third world armies fighting each other in Ukraine: Ukrainians armed mostly with post-Soviet crap and Russians relying on military aid from Iran. It's a bit like watching Congo invading Zambia.

Those are micro-scenes. The big picture tells a different story: CDL is now Russia. What remains is clean up. It took years after Hiroshima for some Japs to stop shooting.

I am really surprised to see so many intelligent posters here dabbling in the minutia of this war - from dead babies to which tanks have bigger guns.

A group calling itself the Liberty of Russia Legion - a Ukraine-based Russian militia led by Russian opposition figure Ilya Ponomarev that says it is working inside Russia for Putin's overthrow, said on Twitter it had "completely liberated" the border town of Kozinka. It said forward units had reached the district centre of Graivoron, further east.

"Moving on. Russia will be free!" it wrote.

The group also released a video showing five heavily armed fighters.

"We are Russians, like you. We are people like you. We want our children to grow up in peace," one said, facing the camera. "It is time to put an end to the dictatorship of the Kremlin."

As for invincible Russian planes, tanks and artillery - we must have been watching a different war. :)

It's possible that the regular army may be better at such a thing. This Wagner group looks as if it's meant for the meat grinder--to be both the meat and the grinder.

I'm always a little skittish to under-estimate an opponent...or over-estimate the home team. :{

What do "hypersonic missiles" have to do with "treason"?

Well, apparently the "unstoppable", invincible hypersonic missiles aren't worth a sh*t and are being shot down by Ukrainians like ducks (slow-flying and retarded ducks at that), hence the anger at scientists who developed them.

In 2014, referendums were held in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions before the CIAkrainian army came to occupy and take control, and over 90% of those who came out were in favor of the DNR/LNR. The rebellion against the regime of Victoria Nuland started in Slavyansk and Kramatorsk. It's fascinating how some here deny the reality that civilians in Donbass are mostly pro-Russia, which is normal because they are ethnic Russians to a huge extent who speak Russian and don't want to live in such a crap entity that was hastily put together by communists-bolsheviks. In Donbass, the occupiers are the Victoria Nuland forces, not the Russian army.
