No, their neighbors were not peaceful. Their Western masters spent billions to make the Ukraine army the best in Europe while avoiding meetings with Russia to address Russia's security concerns - including the one scheduled for April 2022. The plan was and till is to weaken Russian by provoking this war. Ukraine is just a commodity - like ammo.

Which is why they refused to supply Ukraine with modern Western heavy weaponry until well after the invasion started... .

The initial invasion failed not because of Ukraine's Western military equipment which was mostly suited for guerilla warfare but because of the determination of the Ukrainian people and the utter incompetence of the Russian leadership and army.


If there one thing the West gave Russia, it is the opportunity for meetings, up until the eve of February 2022.

It is not the best army in Europe - they are experienced and well trained but the arms are only the same as Poland or Hungary have.
