Good God, that book sounds dreary.

A friend of mine writes stuff like that and sells it on Amazon. I do fake reviews for him. It's all about wizards and goblins and worse with brave young adults overcoming adversity. I only ever read the first few pages which are dreadful enough.

Rhymes are really important for kids; they improve speaking and listening.

Memorising poems seems old fashioned however it's good for kids and the poems stay with them.

It's by the woman who wrote The Gruffalo. I used to do that with the three-year-olds. I preferred The Gruffalo's Child.

Close the blinds, make the classroom dark, and dramatize the whole thing to the hilt! Great fun :))

How can you press-gang a foreigner?

This isn't the 1800s, and we're not the British impressing Americans on the high seas, into service with the Royal Navy.

Russia can't snatch men off the streets in Kathmandu and Bombay.

These Nepalis, Indians, Afghans etc all signed contracts. Most times, it's their own compatriots which arrange for them to travel to Russia and sign these contracts, all while skimming thousands of dollars from the recruit.

It is these same Indian-language recruiters that promise that the job is a "simple security job far from the frontlines" or "purely in a logistical capacity". Same people encourage them to sign the contracts, even if the person signing cannot read Russian. That's who's doing any press ganging, if there is any press ganging going on. Nepalis selling Nepalis into Russian military service under false pretenses.

In any case this is an absolute minority of guys that sh!t their pants and now changed their minds. There's thousands of other Nepalis that would be embarrassed to read about these guys moaning.

Nobody seems to complain that tens of thousands of Nepalis serve as mercenary soldiers in the UK, India, Singapore, Brunei, and in a dozen hotspots around the world, as well as armed guards on merchant ships.
