The problem with this scenario is that we would, once again, be the nuclear playground in any future conflict between the blocks. That's what Kukliński discovered and that's why we had to evacuate from WP ASAP.

Nope, this time we should go alone. Get nukes, build a formidable army - no matter the cost, and go neutral. Friendly neutral.

Name me one thing Poland hasn't done that's in its interest? That's what country's do...things that are in their interests. That's why you are railing against what you perceive as America's inaction...it isn't working toward Poland's interest.

My point is that the US should ensure its position in Europe and the world by kicking Russia back into Asia and building strong alliances with eastern and northern countries in this part of the world. There is a good foundation for that. Yet DC is going play it coy and cheap and save and is more interested in spreading LGBT BS and internal strife than anything else. Hubris I say.

2. The US has provided Poland some security and economic investments. I'd also include that Poland has also served US interests.

Not so sure of just how important it is, but put that aside. How is it possible under current manpower conditions? The only way you drive out an occupying force and not completely destroy every bit of infrastructure within an area is with boots on the ground. We can supply Ukraine with as many boots as are necessary, but there aren't any feet to put in them.

So, the only way to accomplish that outside of some miraculous change of heart amongst the young and middle-aged Ukrainians walking through the streets of host foreign countries is to have non-Ukrainian western feet in those boots. To that, I say, eff that noise!

As a person who knows everything, I urge you to reconsider your plan if you intend to marry a Russian woman and bring her here. You will never know if she loves you or "America".

Do what I did. I married a Polish woman who was already here. Box 1 checked.
She knew I was broke so Box 2 was checked off as well.

I was actually telling Kania recently that I would like to one day write about the Church Fathers for a lay audience.

A collection of texts like the "Apophthegmata Patrum," can offer some pretty useful reflections on the nature of human existence... like the struggle against temptation, and the cultivation of virtue. All things that one can care about if even not a Christian, but just a guy that likes dirt bagging it on climbing trips.

If you are a devout Christian, then... I would argue that many of these early ascetic theologians (read crazy) grappled with all the questions one can imagine. You can understand complex theological debates from the ground level, like defending orthodox beliefs against heretical teachings, and how key doctrines like the Trinity, the Incarnation, and the nature of salvation were shaped when the religion was young.

Well, at least you must admit that of all the Asian languages Russian is the nicest sounding.
