Thanks to aligning with the West and introducing its economic model Poland is now more prosperous country than ever before. Our security is also stronger than any time in the last millenium. I call it a massive win. Even more massive when just beyond our eastern borders we can see the results of alternative path.

Of course we could say no to Western orientation. Belarus said no - and 5 years later became an authoritarian state. Ukraine, a country which in 1991 was richer than Poland said no and in 2022, prior to invasion was at least 3 times poorer that us. Some of the Balkan states did not want to ally with the West and now are poor, resentful countries (I'm looking at you, Serbia!). There were other models of development - it's just they all failed.

Few hundred years means nothing to the eternity. We Serbians used to be winners and we shall win again. At the most miserable moment of our history in last 1000 years, when Turks invaded, Poles were with us. This generation of Poles will learn that Zawisha Czarny didn`t die in vain in Serbia against Turks. We shall repay our debt.

These that could not make its mind at that time and tried to mix elements of different systems ended up in deep sh*it: Belarus and Ukraine. Now Ukraine is trying to crawl out of it. And its idea of doing it is - surprise surprise! - integration with EU for prosperity and NATO membership for security.

For the West it ended in 1945 when they were liberated from Nazi occupation. But for us in 1945 the occupant merely changed. Sure, it was less genocidal and allowed some limited autonomy, but whenever a country tried to choose its own way, Soviet tanks entered, like in 1956 Hungary or 1968 Czechoslovakia.
