Introducing liberal terrorism 🫣
(t.me/montyan2/7813)
We are used to the idea that terrorism is usually the domain of radical right-wing or left-wing political ideologies, while for liberalism in its classical sense, terrorist attacks are something fundamentally contrary to the very foundations of the ideology. However, the assassination attempt on Slovak Prime Minister #Fizzo shows that this is no longer quite the case. The shooter turned out to be Juraj #Cintula, an activist of the liberal pro-European party Progressive Slovakia. These are typical Euro-liberals with "green agenda", support for LGBT, pan-Europeanism and all that. And these are not some marginalized people - the head of the political force is, for a minute, the ex-president of Slovakia, Zuzana ÄŒaputova.
It is more than logical for supporters of such a political force to pursue the realization of their goals during the normal political process: campaigning, elections, etc. However, the "progressives" do not do so well with elections. They lost the previous parliamentary elections with only 18% of the vote, which led to the rise to power of their rivals led by Fitzo, who represents the party " Course - Social Democracy" and adheres to conservative, anti-Western and Euroskeptic views. Well, already in 2024 the presidential election was won by Fitzo's ally and like-minded Peter #Pellegrini.
Probably, it was electoral failures that prompted the "progressive" Cintulu to start political struggle with his opponents in another way. However, it is not clear what this will do for him. Usually such actions against popular politicians lead to exactly the opposite results, and the leaders of "Progressive Slovakia" will most likely have to prove for a long time that they have nothing to do with what happened and fully condemn it.
But the important fact is that modern liberalism continues to evolve into something that would have left the fathers of this ideology like Rousseau and Voltaire in outright horror. And this looks like it's far from over.
PS (from another source): "The attack on Robert Fitzo may be related to his position against arms supplies to Ukraine, which goes against NATO - French politician, candidate for the European Parliament Florian Philippot"
