Brexit 2019 and Poland

Lyzko

Parliament can, but in all probability, parliament won't.

Atch

Boris leading in the first round of votes with Jeremy Hunt waaay behind, then Gove. If it doesn't change over the course of the next few weeks then one of them will end up PM and having seen their Brexit policies, it's disastrous. All three have completely unrealistic ideas about removing/changing the backstop, changing the Withdrawal Agreement etc. Not going to happen.

Lyzko

I'd have to agree.

Unfortunately I can see Boris being elected PM. Tax cuts for the rich is a sure-fire winning strategy :(

Miloslaw
13 Jun 2019  #1025

And I would have to disagree.
Boris scares The EU.
If he can't improve on the withdrawal agreement, he will leave without a deal.
And that scares The EU.

Lyzko

Farage scares 'em even more, believe me:-)

They were not scared of it in March, or in April - both times Britain begged for an extension

Now they have a 6 month extension which should be used for No Deal planning. Instead they are arguing about who smoked dope when they were students.

You really think the EU is scared if this shower ?

Farage scares 'em even more, believe me:-)

They are, but he is unlikely to ever become PM.

Lyzko
14 Jun 2019  #1029

Not so sure about that. Then again, you live in England, I don't, thus
you have the advantage of a bird's eye view which I across the Pond haven't!

Atch
14 Jun 2019  #1030

Not so sure about that.

No, he won't Lyzko. He wouldn't want to be either as he's very much "all mouth and trousers" as they say in the North of England :)) He wouldn't be capable of governing a country, especially one in the kind of political turmoil that the UK is in at present. Very importantly, the senior civil servants of Whitehall would have little respect for him and would undermine him at every turn. He knows all that so he'll just keep speechifying and that's about it.

Lyzko
14 Jun 2019  #1031

Nicely put, Atch, as always.
Appreciate the straight talk:-)

Now for your thoughts on Jeremy Corbyn?
lol

If JC ever got into number 10, I would sell up my business, sell my house...at a loss probably, and move to my house in France.

He would be the usual Marxist disaster.

I can see Boris being elected PM

Not a chance. As you will see next week. A.N. Other.

Hand over your NHS, Brits, and then bend over and swallow some of our chlorinated chicken. America first! LOL!

In your dreams mate.
We still have the Comonwealth to fall back on.
Over 2 billion people.

We still have the Comonwealth to fall back on.

remind me, how well did the 'falling back to the commonwealth' thingy go in 60's?

but yeah, I'm sure that Rwanda is a fair trade partner with the UK. I'm sure they will buy plenty of these products made in the UK.

lol

A trade agreement between the the US and the UK would be better than what the Germans will ever offer you. Who stared the 2 World Wars in Europe? Our relationship is stronger than the EU`s. How many years did Germany screw over NATO?

Come on, GO BOJO!

You are an idiot.
Canada,Australia,New Zeeland,South Africa and India?
You are dumb.

100% correct mate!

Chemikiem

And I would have to disagree.

Well we always disagree Milo, but I think you're wrong in that the EU are worried about any of the candidates. In case you hadn't noticed, the EU are not backing down on anything, they've said their piece and been in control from the start, and unless something groundbreaking comes up, I don't think any further extensions after October will be possible.

Not a chance.

I hope you're right. The thought of him becoming PM is scary. Mind you, Gove is equally scary. He was a lousy Education Secretary.

Hand over your NHS, Brits, and then bend over and swallow some of our chlorinated chicken

Lol! That's about the size of it!

In case you hadn't noticed, the EU are not backing down on anything, they've said their piece and been in control .

I think it comes from that belief on British superiority while all evidence shows that the EU are not really crying after GB.

As for the deals with other countries USA wants healthcare, India wants more visas

Chemikiem
16 Jun 2019  #1043

I think you are right Lenka, but the Brexiteers are not seeing it that way.

deals with other countries USA wants healthcare, India wants more visas

Exactly, there is a price for everything.

USA wants healthcare,

This makes absolutely NO sense at all. How would we get a healthcare deal out of Brexit? BTW the British health care system sucks compared to the US. How long do you have to wait to see a doctor or have a procedure done, weeks, months? It might be expensive in the US, but the quality is far superior.

The Uk has a higher life expectancy than the US. Life expectancy in the US is falling, unique among developed countires. This despite it spending more of its GDP on health.

What lyzko is referring to is that as part of a trade deal US firms would expect access to tenders in the British health sector and a harmonization if drugs standards. Probably won't happen but in the UK the NHS has near religious status so any mention of those things gets people riled up.

After the Brexit and the U.K. becomes the 51'st State of the United States the life expectancy will be equal.

Miloslaw
16 Jun 2019  #1047

, I don't think any further extensions after October will be possible

We agree!
And then the real deals will be made.

After the Brexit and the U.K. becomes the 51'st State of the United States the life expectancy will be equal

I would prefer independence, but given a choice between remaining in The EU or becoming the 51st state,
I would be all for the stars and the stripes!

It's lucky for the rest of us that the majority of Brits disagree with you Milo. You are pro American because youi are Polish. Your sentiments are not shared by fellow Brits thank God..

Not according to the recent polls and your media. BOJO is running away with it!
Three contenders have been knocked out of the race to become the next Tory leader and prime minister, as Boris Johnson emerges as the most popular among his fellow MPs.

Or is this link British msm fake news?
What are the latest odds?

Boris Johnson remains the runaway favourite to be the next PM.

Here are what the bookies are saying on June 16, 2019, according to William Hill.

Boris Johnson - 1/8

what the bookies are saying on June 16, 2019

When the bookies are saying something, do the opposite. who might be that tedious Hunt fellow. we'll see, but Johnson would be a lame duck PM. Rebels in his own party would hand him the dreaded vote of no confidence, hence a General election, which he wouldn't win IMO.
