Brexit 2019 and Poland

Crnogorac3

The Sun is just a cheap tabloid which is the equivalent of Informer for Srbija and Crna Gora.

Its primary mission is to spread hate and furher internal division amongst the people of the UK.

So what about this Brexit thing? Is it or is not going to happen?

Boris Johnson has no intention of renegotiating Brexit deal, EU told

theguardian.com/politics/2019/aug/05/no-deal-brexit-is-boris-johnsons-central-scenario-eu-told?CMP=share_btn_tw

No-deal Brexit is British PM's 'central scenario', chief Brussels envoy reportedly says

The UK's failure to provide any proposals on how to deal with the controversial Irish backstop was felt to be significant by EU officials who spoke to the Guardian.

Frost was said to have told the officials that a technological solution to the Irish border was the UK's preferred option before admitting that "it would not be ready now for Brexit".

"Even if EU gave up the backstop there is no alternative," a diplomat concluded of the discussion.

@Ziemowit

Boris = No deal

A practical and simple solution to the Irish border problem:

Brexit is done and dusted.
And cannot be stopped now.
Unless The EU sees sense at the last minute, which is very unlikely as there is very little sense in Brussels, just political dogma.
The UK will leave with no deal.
Fine by me, The EU, if they see any sense then, again unlikely, going by their history, will come begging The UK for a deal.

Which is what sensible people would do.
But The EU are not sensible people..... so, a few bumpy years for Europe, followed by The UK proving that The EU was wrong on every level.

Is this really how the Brexiteers view the current situation? As the EU being the "unreasonable" one?

We will soon see. Parliament will find a way.

Parliament will find a way.

The lefties are losing control, huh?

Brexit is done and dusted.

It will be a great day of freedom for the British indeed. If all goes well BOJO will make a trade deal with the USA soon after:)

@Doug
What have the Germans ever done for you, or Brussels for that matter?

Yes.
Why would The EU be prepared to hurt themselves for no gain?
The UK will hurt themselves too, but they have something to gain.
The EU's stance is just suicidal, ignorant stuborness and dogma.

When the EU starts falling apart, you'll be glad you got out while the getting was good:)

Miloslaw

It is already falling apart, which is why we have got the lifeboats out and are leaving this stinking, corrupt, sinking ship.

Tacitus
11 Aug 2019  #1422

Why would The EU be prepared to hurt themselves for no gain?

Because the EU respects the interests of its' members states. And Ireland happens to be a member, and thus has a veto over any deal reached with the UK.

To wrap your fish and chips in, actually :))

youtu.be/GSGLTr6IbIk

"We used to have our fish and chips in newspaper and then it was deemed that it was wrong. Now, when we used to have our fish and chips in a newspaper there weren't loads of people that went down with tummy upsets and things like that. It had a beautiful smell to it and I can remember that smell now and how lovely it was."

"And that was EU?"

"Yes, it was something that they [the EU] did. I'm sorry and I do listen to the European parliament and the things that they say should and shouldn't be done. I tell you what, we put billions into Europe; do you see the schools or the health service getting any better in poorer countries? I would like to see them have decent schools and decent health."

"And that was EU?"

This one is a funny one. Glad you enjoyed it!
I can't listen to dumb ***** like this (and I'm not referring to James O'Brien). I'm not sharp enough to argue politics on the radio with these agenda following presenters, so I wouldn't call in. Unless you happen to AGREE with the presenter in question, you end up as a national joke, and just have to hope that your neighbours aren't listening at the time.

The presenters really earn their money, because they have to pretend to enter into a reasoned discussion with these imbeciles such as this caller.

Despite Boris's vow not to meet any EU leaders unless the backstop is scrapped, he has actually accepted an invitation to come to Dublin and talk to Leo Varadkar, date yet to be agreed.

Boris's vow not to meet any EU leaders unless the backstop is scrapped

The backstop was a British proposal though, not an EU one.

The backstop was a British proposal though

Really? I recently discovered 'backstop' is EU jargon for "something designed to prevent something else" is the word generally used in Britain? It's pretty foreign to American usage...

Really?

It's pretty foreign to American usage.

Our method is more subtle. We use "Do as we tell you, or else"... :)

Brexit is done....

Keep convincing yourself Milo. The British establishment will never allow No Deal. Maybe there IS a compromise somewhere, but this is far from done, because there is no real majority for anything in the country or in parliament, and the courts will have to decide what legal steps can be tabled and so on.

It's a long road, and I predict the staus quo (of sorts) will be upheld.

Yes it is a term used in legal and financial contracts for many years. You could check investopedia but its in securities, leases, banking, insurance and many other sectors. I doubt it was dreamed up in the Palace Elysee or in a Brussels bar

You csn trawl through this thread or read the links a,ready provided - the backstop was requested by the British but they were too lazy / disorganized to provide their own wording - the fault lies with David Davis the incompetent Brexit minister ay the time, and a lifetime leave proponent.

No surprise howver that Brexiters want to blame this fiasco on anything apart from there own failings

Vesko Vukovic

Why don't the Brexit opponents organize something like a Maidan in Kiev?

Tents, there is no dispersing until the abusive, harmful government is removed, the institutions are blocked.

cms neuf
12 Aug 2019  #1434

The instituions are blockef already Vesko - there is no parliament majorrity for any solution - no deal, second referendum, cancelling ir leaving with a deal. Another election also would not fix that and with the Scottish nationalists likely to hold a casting vote in parliament then it could break up the UK.

You any relation to those twins who used to play soccer ?

I don't know why Brexit is still being discussed in this way.
It is happening on October 31st and nobody can stop it.
Happy Halloween!

I don't know why Brexit is still being discussed in this way.

Because deep down they know BOJO is going to be victorious and the lefties will cry like the Dems do in America.

Happy Halloween!

Hey, dress up as BOJO and go out for trick or treat? haha

Miloslaw

and the lefties will cry like the Dems do in America.

They will be crying for years and even once they see our economy improving after we leave they will say "But we would have done even better had we stayed in The EU".
