I've read that Australia just rejected British proposal of visa free trade and movement ? There is still hope for the trade but apparently they don't want an influx of low skilled Brits :D You have to appreciate the irony

influx of low skilled Brits :D

Lol the the low achiever Brits here in Poland will go to Australia for a better life, I will miss them here on PF, might have to catch up with them on the Aussie forum :D

Funny they might get the chance to teach Aussies how to speak proper English.

And your own achievements are so superior Dolno ? What is the point of such comments ?

Dougpol1
7 Jan 2020  #2797

own achievements

He was obviously good at maths, and made a few bob over the years, but something went to his head. Must be doing alright financially, and can't keep it shut. Classy. When nobody actually gives one.

He's learnt from the master. Johnny. Who has become quite reasonable in his comments recently. Time to tone it down boys; but then again, when we have the lunatics running the asylum people do get the idea that they are somehow superior. Tut tut.

but apparently they don't want an influx of low skilled Brits :D

They never did.
You obviously have no knowledge and just post anti Brit stuff.
Even in the seventies when my family were thinking of moving there they had strict criteria.
Now it will be a more even playing field.... No more Aussie bar tenders.....

Lenka

I didn't mean to be anti British but the irony was too much. While Brits voted to keep others out it seems they are not that welcomed in other places either. And I'm aware of Australian point system - it wasn't me however trying to make them change their mind but British government. Seventies are in the past- this proposal was created by British government and refused by Australia two days ago.

Miloslaw
7 Jan 2020  #2800

Yeah, but nothing has changed..... and yeah, I do smell an anti British attitude in most of your posts.
Did it not work out for you in the UK?

but the irony was too much. While Brits voted to keep others out

Gosh never seen this side of Lenka:) very true and hilarious keep it up .

Lenka
7 Jan 2020  #2802

Why? Because I think Brexit will harm Britain or because I think people were lied to and the government is incredibly incompetent in dealing with the situation?

I would think that really makes me pro British- I want what's best for Britain's future ( we just happen to disagree what that is) and I think that British voters deserve better then what they have been given.

dolnoslask
7 Jan 2020  #2803

e pro British

I would identify with that, to a point.

British voters deserve better then

They have got what they voted for , same with Poland and PIS .

Popcorn time, don't you agree?

Miloslaw
7 Jan 2020  #2804

I would think that really makes me pro British

No, you don't understand the British soul and our love of freedom.

@dolnoslask

I am surprised at you.
With our very similar shared family history I would expect you to be grateful for Britain taking in both your parents and mine and giving them the opportunity to have a good life. And for you and I and our siblings to have a great life too!

So much so that you can now live comfortably in Poland, and I may follow you one day....
Credit where credit is due......Britain gave our families a good life.

Dougpol1
7 Jan 2020  #2805

to be grateful for Britain

Classy. Something that dolnoslask has seemingly lost. He's got a chip on his shoulder, like Ziobro, about his families' sufferings. And it was all Britain's fault.

Miloslaw
7 Jan 2020  #2806

And that is the point.
It wasn't.
Poland didn't help my family or his after the war, but Britain did....

Lenka
8 Jan 2020  #2807

No, you don't understand the British soul and our love of freedom.

That is quite possible as I never noticed anything especially freedom loving in Brits

Dougpol1
8 Jan 2020  #2808

Well - we did launch a European foodie war in the 90s when the EU tried to ban our sausage. It is so good that now Polish butchers try to copy it:):)

I never noticed anything especially freedom loving in Brits

Brexit is a good example, or didn't you notice that either?

now Polish butchers try to copy it:):)

LOL!! I didn't know that Doug.

Lenka
8 Jan 2020  #2810

Not really. And even if it was it was almost half- half. So only half of the Brits are freedom loving?

Miloslaw
8 Jan 2020  #2811

And even if it was it was almost half- half.

That was The Referendum.

The election we just had was mainly about Brexit and clearly showed that opinions have changed.
That landslide victory for Boris shows that most Brits are actually freedom loving.
But you didn't notice that........
The more you post, the more I am convinced that you had a bad experience in the UK and I am not surprised,
because if you showed your condescending attitude towards Brits here, you would have got the "cold shoulder".

Lenka

The election we just had was mainly about Brexit and clearly showed that opinions have changed.

I think you are stretching it to suit your view but fine- Conservatives got 47% of general vote(that is including Brexit party).Where is that more than referendum?

Not to mention that I find it completely ridiculous to connect Brexit with the attitude towards freedom. People had many different reasons to want one.

While it holds no water what you think about me I must say that it seems to me you want to perceive me as prejudices because then you can dismiss what I say. I guess I can't please everyone as quite often I was accused of the opposite but never mind.

Miloslaw
8 Jan 2020  #2813

@Lenka

I will let Michael Caine explain it to you.

theguardian.com/film/2017/apr/06/michael-caine-voted-brexit-eu-freedom-not-immigrants-going-in-style-new-film

Lenka
8 Jan 2020  #2814

And that is supposed to say what? Some people might have voted Brexit for that reason, others had their own reasons. You are just projecring your own feelings onto the whole group and adding an ideological spin to it.

Did it ever cross your mind that what is viewed as a wanting of freedom might be seen as inability to be part of the team?

It's not necessarily my take on it but at the time of referendum I read few foreign articles describing how UK was usually the outsider.

Miloslaw
8 Jan 2020  #2815

Now you are getting close to understanding the British mentality........... we are an island.

Dougpol1
8 Jan 2020  #2816

British mentality...

Speak for the nationalist selves. I and many other Brits are Europeans. We will have to stick together against the Klingons (meaning the Russkies and various extra-terrestrials) in the future, so we might as well get used to it.

Michael Caine:

"I voted for Brexit. What it is with me, I'd rather be a poor master than a rich servant,"

I think he was quite honest!

That's what I for a long time have guessed too...most Brexiters wouldn't had a thing against the EU if it would be ruled from London, not from Brussels instead....it isn't the Union which is wrong here...it's that they themselves don't feel they have the place they think they deserve.

The Empire back then was so nice and easy compared to the EU, they were the lone top dog....but in the EU....sharing power....the equals of...say....Malta...and with them Germans on top too! For what did we win 2 WW's and 1 World Cup? Huh?:)

That's much more honest than to accuse the EU all the time for one wrongdoing or another!

To find their place in the new world that is something the Brits....or better said, the English.....have to find out....nobody can help them with that, that just needs time (and another generation or two).

Miloslaw
9 Jan 2020  #2818

but in the EU....sharing power....the equals of...say....Malta...and with them Germans on top too!

You understand BB............ :-)

Lenka

You don't paint a very positive picture of Brits I must say... Are you sere you are not secretly anti British? ;)

Miloslaw
9 Jan 2020  #2820

You don't paint a very positive picture of Brits I must say

*Shrugs shoulders*

What can I say?
At least I am honest.
