It's a stricter lockdown over there, yet it's the PLN which is plummeting. Basically due to poor fiscal management by PiS.

Maf, either educate yourself about Ireland or don't comment on Irish politics. You're far too intelligent and generally well informed to be making such daft remarks. We weren't trying to stop Brexit but quite apart from the threat to the peace process, we had to protect our own interests and deal with the complexities of cross-border trade within the island of Ireland, not to mention fisheries and agriculture and loads of other things.

It was a pretty good impersonation then.... the general rule is that when both sides have a mutual problem both sides are expected to contribute to finding a solution... which I don't remember Ireland doing.

How was the final version different from what I'd suggested (not my original idea but the obvious solution) of mostly ignoring the border and carrying things that had to be checked away from the border?

I think that is one of my biggest beef with the lockdown. We are harming millions of kids and as usual, the more disadvantages they already have the more they get hit.

A friend (faculty at an American university) says that pushing online education has been a major ambition of administrators there (as early as 2012 they were in meetings were administrators were outlining a future of mostly online classes) so the experiment isn't going to end soon....

American teachers unions are pushing for online instruction to continue indefinitely or until after all students are vaccinated (at present there is no vaccine recommended for those under 16)....

I think the Polish government is mostly going along for the ride - they're not original thinkers in terms of policy so they're copying what role model countries are doing.

School lockdowns are child abuse and should be classified as a felony. A ten-inch screen is not life. It's a tool of torture.

Kids being immune was common knowledge the covid terrorists had from other "pandemics" like H1N1 before they decided to run this obedience test. I guess the earlier you start, the better boot lickers they will be when they grow up.

True but some are more effective than others.
The Pfizer is 95% effective against Covid while the J&J is only 75% effective against Covid.
And like I said, the J&J covers the new strains of Covid while the others don't.

Completely not true about unions. The teachers do not want remote learning. Speaking to family members who are in the union. They are completely against remote learning. Remote learning is a very far right, like school of choice agenda. Why would any teach be pro remote learning when it would limit their job growth? Completely against teachers agendas. They do want all teachers vaccinated, not too hard to understand. All children should be vaccinated, and they should all get flu shots too each year but they dont. They should wash their hands, but they dont.

Polish government took all their cue's from the Trump admin, and believe Fauci to be the worlds expert. They publicly cite things in the USA when trying to compare things in Poland. They are so "Americanized" on their views they can see nothing else. The use of lockdowns simply designed to hide their inability to prepare and lead properly.

Foreigners are always happy when the PLN falls. Since their loyalties lie elsewhere and they send most of their money overseas. Poles advocate for a stronger currency usually, unless they are in an export orientated business, which you are not. Another mask off moment.

I'm talking about union leadership, lots of individual teachers want to return to the classroom but the union leadership is iffy. A few days ago I had a nasty online interaction wtih some teachers who more or less accused me of wanting to murder them due to my position that remote education is crap.

That not only doesn't make sense, it is actually the opposite of sense. If someone earned in PLN and "send most of their money overseas" it would be in their interest for the PLN to be at a higher rate, now wouldn't it. The plummeting PLN caused by fiscal mismanagement during the pandemic by the PiSuarzy would be detrimental to somebody who wanted to "send most of their money overseas".

Regarding the remote learning, yes, it's a shambles. The disadvantaged kids, of whom there are many in Poland, will not be able to recover from this academically, especially the younger primary school kids in their first three years or so of school when so many basic skills are laid down. It's already very late to be starting school at six or seven, unless the child has at least been to a kindergarten of some kind but for those kids who had no experience of school at all, the disruption of their first year of formal education is disastrous.
