Coronavirus in Poland

a crowded Polish airport lounge

They have 2 lounges in Warsaw airport and they are hardly crowded,what bothers me is they dont serve you hot food(all airport lounges in the EU and USA) but charge the the same full amount like before to the airline or if you want to use miles or pay cash.

However he will also infect anyone living with him

Yes, I know that's the official narrative. It was pretty smart of authorities to convince the masses that:

#1 Wearing a dust mask protects against virus and also "saves lives"

#2 Those who don't wear it endanger the others, not only themselves

This way strong emotional blackmail was created and on top of that, it pushed the mob to control each other.

And the mask serves the very important purpose of being the only visible sign of a "pandemic". Without them, people would just assume normal daily activities and the "new normality" would be impossible.

Bravo Spike. You posted very sucinctly what i was thinking. Both JR and the Takticus kraut have been posting wild assumptions that are far from scientifically proven. It is like in medieval times during the black plague, when someone would say oh that person would not have died if he prayed more and repented his sins. He should have self flagellated himself more, in a horsehair shirt, for the good of society!

Yes, I know that's the official narrative.

It is also pure logic. If you are sick with a highly virulent, airborne virus, you will also very likely infect those you share accomodations with. Additionally you are also a potential danger for anyone you meet.What is so difficult to understand about this?

PolAmKrakow
26 Apr 2021  #6155

@Tacitus
At the airport, outside of the lounge that has everyone sitting at least 1.5 meters a part, the airport has no control over social distancing. They get you to stand in line to board with a meter in between you, then they pack you like freakin sardines onto a bus so everyone is together and there is no room. But this is ok? Please this polisy if simply moronic.

@Novichok
Certain activities have high levels of risk. Flying is not one of them. Dining is not one of them. Combined they are less dangerous than taking out your own trash. When in an environment where everyone is tested, and social distance is required, there is less than one tenth of one percent in one million of getting infected.

Just landed in Detroit. No panic in the lounge here. Everyone relaxing, and while eating and drinking no masks. That simply makes sense and is good mmanagement.

What is so difficult to understand about this?

Many things.

First, I've got a problem, just like many doctors who are non-crooks, believing that dust masks stop the virus.

Second, I don't take a virus with mortality rates similar to the common flu as a serious threat to my life.

Third, I was never affected by it despite never wearing a dusk mask and attending many social gatherings, including raves for hundreds of [maskless] people. So either that virus doesn't like me at tried to avoid me at all cost (cannot blame it, I can be an ******* sometimes) or is not as deadly as advertised I'm a famous 'asymptomatic' case like the overwhelming majority of people. I wish I had asymptomatic hangovers too.

Fourth, I don't personally know nor my family and friends a single person who died from the corona. Not a single soul. And yes, I'm one of those freaks who believes his own experience and my family more than mainstream TV news.

And fifth I personally know only one single person who had a possible case of a non-asymptomatic corona and cured it just by laying in bed for a week. She described it as a flu-like disease.

Anyone know when the next update on lockdown is due? I know hotels are closed until 3rd, but after that?

Pretty reliable source saying malls reopen the 3rd, and outdoor dining the 10th.

Second, I don't take a virus with mortality rates similar to the common flu

You have any stats to support that?

Fourth, I don't personally know nor my family and friends a single person who died from the corona.

I do and I've heard of several cases already. All of them in this third wave of the pandemic. The latest, a very spectacular one, was the case of a 61-year old woman who felt generally well. She was quite safe in her village, but some weeks ago she was asked by her daughter to come to Warsaw for a few days to take care of her grandchildren. On her return home, her state of health began to deteriorate rapidly and even if she was pretty quickly admitted to hospital, she soon died of the COVID-19 virus.

I know only one single person who had a possible case of a non-asymptomatic corona

I had corona myself whose only symptom was the body temperature reaching up to 38,8 Celsius every evening for 14 days. My GP was helpless and eventualy I got home treatment (that should have indeed be administered in hospital) directly from a Covid clinic that I received through my own channels. Otherwise, I may have ended up in a hospital or even died if I had decided to wait it out! On the last day of that 14-day period my oxymetry went down to 88% in the morning which was not good news at all.

Never in my life have I had a temperature of around 39 Celsius every day for 14 consecutive days. No, corona virus is not like a flu.

@Ziemowit
For most people COVID is like the flu. And the numbers of flu deaths and COVID only deaths are nearly identical. Dying from COVID and dying with COVID are two very different numbers, and now even Poland is starting to separate those numbers.

I have lost three friends and one family member to COVID. All had an underlying condition either known or unknown. While I hate losing them, it does not change my opinion one bit.

This is not the black plague. This is a bad virus, but not one that should shut the earth down.

I personally know 3 people who died and 5 people who had corona in Poland and one severely who was in hospital for 11 days,is a Dutch guy 70yo who would bike with me for over 30 km a day and dont feel it still cant regain his strength.I took the moderna 2 doses but still am taking precautions.No gyms open here but I walk 7/9 km in the park without a mask everyday and not going to pvt bar b qs some are having at there houses.I will though go out next week when they open Hala koshyiki'I still check my temperature and Oxygen levels atleast twice a day.

Lenka
26 Apr 2021  #6162

I know 2 people that had it and basically on the level of cold/flu.
I'm not saying that people don't get terribly sick because of it but that it's not the only thing in the world and that Covid rules have it's victims too.

Looking at UK, Poland, India etc it looks like the biggest threat always was overwhelming health care. When that happens things go very wrong very quickly.

PolAmKrakow
26 Apr 2021  #6163

@Lenka
And that is the issue. It is not that the virus is so deadly. It is that health care is completely unprepared to cope with sick people. Disregard health and health care long enough and things will eventually blow up on you. Had PiS prepared, it wouldn't be so bad. Two billion was better spent on TVP though. This is the value PiS places on the lives and wellbeing of Polish citizens.

Easy solution is to start paying doctors like they should be paid and they wont leave. Purchase technology, and update the whole system. Thats a winning initiative that would get both sides working on something together. I wonder why its not happening.

Spike31
26 Apr 2021  #6164

You have any stats to support that?

The statistics are widely available. Do your own calculations. And if you don't feel like it, you can dig for those that I shared on this thread in the last year.

You can use from data: worldometers.info/coronavirus/ taking into account that the mortality rates are often overblown by sick and very elderly people being automatically counted as covid victims if they ever contacted covid in their lives and have antibodies.

And also take into account that asymptomatic cases* are not taken into account in those stats so you can divide the final mortality rate by two (by increasing the total covid infected number by the factor of 2).

Now do your math.

pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32491919/

PS: You can start with Germany. They are methodical at keeping track of it.

I have lost three friends and one family member to COVID.

How many friends or family members didi you lose to flu?

And the numbers of flu deaths and COVID only deaths are nearly identical.

Any reliable stats on that?

PolAmKrakow
26 Apr 2021  #6166

@Ziemowit
Do your own googling. The numbers are all out there. Flu, this year there has been no flu, and the medical community is very concerned about it. In the past though, 2 family members have died from flu, not with flu, directly from it.

Educate yourself with some research before you spout off.

India etc

I dont believe the figures they claim its,maybe 10 times more.I was born there people born and die there with no identity.I just thank god I dont have any one I know there,still so sad.I really feel bad looking at the images and feel good that i am in the civilized world but still remain atheist.

Spike31
26 Apr 2021  #6168

Let's take a look at #1 on the list: the US

total [confirmed] cases: 32,844,595

total cases + 40% asymptomatic* (hidden cases): 45,982,433

total deaths: 586,325

death rate: 1.27%

* pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32491919/

And that's a very conservative estimate since the stats still include many elderly people dealing with serious diseases who had covid antibodies when they died and were counted as corona victims

PolAmKrakow
26 Apr 2021  #6169

@Spike31
That is not the "death rate". That might be the "died with rate" but its no way a killed rate. Facts are that anyone in Michigan, since a colleges wife is a hospital director, anyone dying with COVID whether they have a heart attack, stroke, lung cancer, or hit by a car, is listed in the COVID fatalities. It is a died with number only and not representative of the deadliness of the virus.

Deaths per 100,000 according to the CDC for flu? 1.8 Flu and Pneumonia combined 15.2 Both more deadly annually.

Pneumonia looks like a much more dangerous problem than corona. Shouldn't we worry about Flu that turns into Pneumonia more?

Novichok
26 Apr 2021  #6170

And that's a very conservative estimate since the stats still include many elderly people

CDC admitted that only 6% died from the Chinese virus while otherwise healthy. Then, that 586k goes down to 36k.
For the record, I feel no obligation to change my lifestyle in any way to protect the idiots who, with total premeditation and at great expense, abused their bodies all their lives by boozing, smoking, and overeating. Tough sh*it. Darwin and Jesus are waiting for you, a-holes...

dust masks

I don't know how the situation in Poland is, but in Germany, people now wear FFP2 masks which offer significantly better protection to their wearer than "dust masks".

I don't take a virus with mortality rates similar to the common flu as a serious threat to my life.

With similar you mean up to 10 times as deadly?

it is thought to be substantially higher (possibly 10 times or more) than that of most strains of the flu.

Source:

hopkinsmedicine.org/health/conditions-and-diseases/coronavirus/coronavirus-disease-2019-vs-the-flu

But yeah, what do those guys know compared to someone with a calculator... . The only reason why the death rate is still relatively low is because the strict anti-covid measures prevented our hospitals from being overwhelmed. Once no beds are available, people will die in droves as currently happening in Brazil.

And mortality rates are only part of the problem. An even greater number who survive the virus suffer from long covid, which as it seems can seriously screw up your life. A former classmate of mine (aged 31) got very sick half a year ago, and while she did not have to go to a hospital, she has yet to regain her sense of taste and smell, and is so far unable to resume her former fitness regime. And this is a relatively mild complication, compared to those who are unable to even walk stairs anymore after their illness is over. Heck, Brazil has seen a shocking number of children and young people die of the disease.

The EU should bring them all in to show compassion. If there was ever a good reason to take in 212 million refugees, it's now.

"up to" 10 times more deadly, and "as little" as less deadly than the flu. Its all pandemic driven word play. I am with Novi on this. Let the people who never cared about themselves before deal with the consequences of their choices now.

Another lie from the mask sheep: masks don't restrict air supply.

OK, geniuses, put one on and go running. Then take it off, run back and tell me that there was no difference.

Then, repeat it with two masks. If one doesn't restrict, two won't, either. Now, THAT's science.

Let the people who never cared about themselves ...

...jump into the lake or off the bridge. I don't give a damn. Just don't take anyone with you.

Poland needs it's own #allesdicthtmachen movement!

Can't find a source in English but it seems to be a bunch of videos by German actors satirizing CCP influenced covid policy.

from their youtube page (via google translate)

"It's not about viruses, numbers or curves. It's about the way the state and citizens interact and the question of what kind of society we want to live in"

some of the vids:

what should the Polish hashtag be?

#wszystkozamknąć ?

#zawszezamknięte ?

#nigdynieotwarte ?

How is the vaccination program in Germany? There seems to be a correlation in vaccination and a month or so of increased serious infection numbers (which is also probably behind Poland's "third wave").

Maybe.... those vaccinated are infecting people and vaccinated people do need to self-quarantine for a few weeks....
