It's indeed better to be safe than sorry, however despite what Tacitus rightly calls "internet quackjobs", vaccines are safe.

However if scaremongering is the order of the day, it's worth reading this. Things could well get worse, and I'm glad of the protection the vaccine affords.

If anything, Covid passes are used very reluctantly. Fortunately neither England nor Poland mandate them for entry to large events. For travel, proof of vaccination or immunity is hardly surprising or extreme.

My family would break out laughing and tell me to enjoy the turkey as they got back in their cars and drove away.

It does not matter how careful
you are, unless you live in a cave you will most likely get exposed to the virus in due time. Be it in a week, a month or a year. If you want to play it safe, get the jab

Imagine living in a world with a virus that lets you slowly suffocate and that is close to overwhelming the hospitals. There is a safe vaccine, that offers nearly 100% protection against that fate, yet some people refuse to take because they - who have likely never even watched through a microscope outside of school - think they know better than the scientists fighting the virus.

A long way off that. The latest wave of Covid is proof of that. If the South Africa variant gets a hold both in China (it's already in Hong Kong) and in Europe (I hope it doesn't) then we will see how both cultured compare in terms of authoritarianism.


It is an unpleasant thing, and yet another reason that capitalism needs strong oversight. Letting 'the market' (i.e. businesspeople craving 'profit' and their excel-wielding laces) decide how people live is a very bad thing indeed. People have been saying it for 2 centuries.

That was the promise. Take the vaccine and the masks could come off and restrictions would end.

Then came the "break through" cases of those who were vaccinated which quickly was blame on the unvaccinated.

Then came the admission that the efficacy of the vaccines decline rapidly after only a few months and so boosters are needed.

Did you ever stop to notice and ask why Europe and North America have been in such a panic about COVID and the requirement for vaccines but not so much other, poorer and more densely populated parts of the globe?

The "scientists" you religiously trust and admire so much have been scratching their empty heads in bewilderment about this too.

Simple. Poor people can't afford to build air-tight cages with AC and breathe manufactured air. They have to get by inhaling what nature provides.

Yes, they got hit hard. But at the time there were reports that the deaths from COVID in nursing homes were no worse than a regular flu season.

I also remember during the election season seeing frequent news reports showing scores of refrigeration trucks being hauled in to handle the growing stacks of bodies. Conveniently those macabre scenes suddenly disappeared as soon as Trump was out and Biden was in. Heck, even Cuomo was at first blamed for underreporting nursing home deaths but tellingly it was a #MeToo campaign which ousted him.

Recently I came across a story that government officials in Canada (another woke feminist country) were admitting that COVID restrictions were not based on medical observations but on public opinion polls. So it is fear rather than science which is determining how COVID is being handled.

Even more bizarre is how the economic migrants are still flocking from low COVID infection countries in the third world to "high" COVID infection countries in North America and Europe. One would think this would be reason enough to turn them away. But no. They are not even put into two-weeks isolation, frequent testing or given vaccinations when they show up. They are administratively processed and moved internally around countries as if COVID didn't even exist. This fact is often brought up in call-in talk shows. Needless to say the callers who dare to point this out are quickly cut-off by the hosts.

The best way to sell a lie is by claiming that it is "science" or that it is from "overabundance of caution". You can see how it works even here. The problem is that science is based on tests and numbers - not adjectives and essays.

The first test I would like to see would show how a dust shield with holes that are 50 times bigger than the virus stops that virus when I am breathing.

Yep all the vaxed in the hospital amount to about 20% of all hospitalizations, while unvaxed amount to 80%. The map jon357 posted was pretty telling. The unvaxed area's of PiS supporters that even PiS is begging to get jabbed.

No one ever said the jab was a cure. Not once. It has only been touted as offering protection against hospitalization and death. Seems to be working pretty well since the deaths are not from the vaxed people for the great majority.

Going to get my mark of the beast booster next week before heading to the states. Hope I dont glow in the dark after, or become magnetic.

That's why I despise anecdotal "evidence" and individual sob stories. Life is about statistics.

Guys, I like your optimism, but honestly I think they aren't going to stop. They are going to slowly but steadily increase the pressure until everyone accepts being vaxxed biannually. Honestly, I'm not sure they will stop even then, as it is likely they will introduce various lockdowns when that doesn't prove to be effective (and it won't). Most people over the course of human history were always easily manipulated sheep, and I don't think that's going to change ever, let alone anytime soon.

The Medical Council should be dissolved because its current influence on the decisions of the authorities is zero, and unfortunately the names of the members of this Council are mentioned in various decisions as consulted with the expert community. If the official number is 20k and his number is 100k then why is there such a huge 5x discrepancy ? One or other or both numbers are badly wrong. In any other field would such guesswork be tolerated over a 2 year period ?

5 x sounds like an exaggeration but from what I hear, many who develop light symptoms just don't get tested because they don't want to be locked up for over a week (and maybe other reasons).

For the great majority of people covid is a cold and people have gotten colds and gotten over them for hundreds or thousands of years.


One of the biggest casualties in the pandemic (for anyone paying attention) has been a massive loss of trust in institutions and political leaders. They clearly have no real idea what they are doing and have no way out beyond demanding more people get injections and transferring more healthcare money to big pharma. And that's the optimistic take...

Another thing is the launch of mass tests - we still perform much less tests in Poland than in other European countries. We underestimate the number of cases by about five times. In fact, we have about 100,000 of these cases, not 20,000 - explained the scientist.

Is that bad? Previous scary numbers from the UK and more recently Austria (and Deutschland?) have been a function of mass testing. I've seen figures for 1,000,000 a day in the UK and 250,000 a day in Austria...

Meanwhile not much talk about hospitalization rates.... (the daily death numbers in Austria have climbed a bit but in per capita terms are under 50% of Poland).

Raw case numbers are a driver of fear and misinformation. Don't tell me the raw numbers, give me percentages and hosptialization and daily death rates (all averaged over 7 days).

I guess you haven't heard about the new 'African variant' of Covid that is resistant to the vaccines.
It appears to have a high number of mutations, about 30 in the coronavirus spike protein, which could affect how easily it spreads to people.
How safe do all you vaxxer gods feel now ?
