Actually, this is not terrible news. While the media is, predictably, going into hysterics about the raw numbers of positive tests, they tend to not mention that this is the highest number tested in one day since the beginning of the pandemic, and analysts agree that that the current wave is peaking.

hospitalized: 21,332

ICU: 1870

daily deaths: 570 (409 with co-morbidities)

7 day average deaths: 336

It's far from "without the cause". My cause is to remain a free human being in times when the government and the "experts" are turning whole societies into obedient cattle by fear and social engineering.

So far I succeeded in that despite the fact that it came at a cost.

Yes, I know..."trust", say obedient bootlickers.

The bootlickers here are doing what bootlickers do everywhere else - defer to the higher authority and obey, which has nothing to do with my question of how those dust shields work and how effective they are in keeping the virus out of my lungs. In numbers, not adverbs and adjectives, and cute pictures. That means the physics, the chemistry, and the math involved, not some bs data from Bangladesh.

No bad thing if it reduces the number of hospitalisations and deaths from Covid. Immunisation against those diseases for which there is a vaccine should be mandatory anyway, and in some places it already is.

Well that's the problem joun, there are no vaccines that give immunization against Covid. :-(

There are however several vaccines that reduce the impact of the virus, reduce hospitalisations and reduce deaths. At a time when hospitals are under severe strain (to the extent that other serious illnesses are not being diagnosed or treated), refusing a simple (and free) shot is nothing other than selfishness. And dangerous too.

Which is a valid point if you assume that we are government property.

We, the people, do many things - deliberately and with full knowledge of bad consequences - that add to hospitalizations and death, like eating too much sugar. Where do we draw that red line of government being free to control what we do?

And what is wrong if the people who don't care about their health and don't get vaccinated die? I force my car to get oil changes because I own it and don't want it to die too early.

Hospitals however are public here, and owned by us all. Care of orphans and people whose health is wrecked by Covid is also funded by the whole of society.

Which is one reason we don't want the system unduly strained by a crisis.

They are not 'free' as our governments are paying for them (plus the billions for development) big time and we the people are the government.

So NO, they are not 'free' nor 'simple' because there is no data what they may do to us in five years down the road.

There is data however that they have caused blood clots and damage to the heart muscles.
Your wording should have said, refusing an "experimental' and costly vaccine that we have no recourse to after we have been jabbed with them plus the fact how we have been lied to about them all along the way is damn good cause for people not to be forced to get them.

Oh, yeah, and arguing with our spouses - the activity that leads to high blood pressure, heart attacks, divorces, and bad childhood for the kids that have to listen to this bs every day, all day long.

All of the above puts stress on our health care system.

Dumber. The problem is not that they were vaccinated but in how they rationalize it. And the lockdowns, masks, distancing, and everything else covid ruling gangs demand.

What surprises me is how quickly mandatory vaccination has entered the mainstream and how maybe 50 percent of well educated people can't see a problem with it - irrespective of whether that is the best way to deal with the medical problem, the side effects for society / democracy are huge and very dangerous.

Just imagine if Trump or Orban had suggested mandatory vaccination during those immigration crises a few years back.

Seems to be a fundamental divide between people who think first priority is freedom and those who would rather sacrifice freedom for safety. I did read that one massive indication of whether you support vaccine mandates is if you have a regular salary, and even stronger if you are a public employee (who often are int the front line) . In contrast if you have your own business you are far more likely to oppose mandates and lockdowns.

Yeah...it's shocking....even if it's not about such grande things like freedom and right of physical integrity....most don't even seem to spare a thought to the possibility that it could be him, becoming the next number in the statistic of the unlucky vaccination "adverse effects" (death at worst)....is it a lack of imagination?

They would have rightfully been called out for conflating two different subjects. What has vaccination to do with migration?


I don't know how things went in Poland, but it took Germany close to two years until we seriously considered it. And we only do so because our previous expectations regarding the mutation of the virus and the readiness of the people to listen to facts have proven to be too optimistic.


When we think about possibilities, we think more about the possibility of getting seriously ill of the virus or dying, or needing surgery but having to wait because the ICUs are full. We know about the risks of vaccination, but we also know that the former risks are several magnitudes higher.

Yes, joun, especially the new illegal recreational drugs of fentanyl, methadone and oxycotin that kill three times the number of people that Covid does.
Refuse these self-inflicted suicides to our healthcare system and there would be lots of time and room for Covid patients.
And remember, the hospitals get paid extra for Covid patients, so they are keeping those beds filled $$$$ even with mild symptoms of the hoity toity to keep the statistics and fear up.

They add to the cost of running it. Then when a pandemic flairs up, they overwhelm the system just the same.


Great point. Once the dam is breached and a precedent set, the village below is gone. All because the villagers were trusting bootlickers and didn't react to the trickle...

I'm just giving an example - it's the sort of thing they would do. While most democracies would put migrants in some kind of detention, the idea of mandatory vaccines or other medical procedures would have been opposed very vigorously by liberals.

By allowing them now it becomes carte Blanche for any kind of health measures now

When I have to be jabbed I could die because of it....that's a total realistic possibility....and I'm gonna be forced to take that risk...it's unbelievable!

Damn right. There are statistics and there is me. That's why I ignore any sentence that has "but what about others". Others can do the same.

But even if its two dozen then what of the rights of those people ? Without doubt if vaccinations are mandatory then some poor guy is going to take it against his will and die. Then they will have eternity to ponder how they have helped Austrian society. A good number more will have severe reactions and miss work or other important life events.

Strange that you perceive the risk of death by vaccination as realistic, but not from the virus.


Now multiply that with the factor 1000 and you have the number of people who would be saved by that measure. People who might be vaccinated, but thanks to a compromised immune system have to rely on herd immunity. And the many others who would be negatively impacted by an overwhelmed healthcare system. People who need surgery, chemo and have to wait, and so on.
