Coronavirus in Poland

It's either a sham designed to back up 'the peak is yet to come' story so they can have their postal election, or else it's a precursor to the lifting of restrictions. Get the people used to wearing masks (did you notice they have to be worn in all public settings including the workplace) and then you can lift restrictions en masse rather than gradually. Poles in general and PIS in particular are not big on subtleties. A carefully designed lifting of restrictions would require too much planning, patience and cooperation so they'll take the sledgehammer approach as usual.


There have probably been many deaths from coronavirus during the last few weeks that haven't been recorded as such because they've occurred outside a hospital setting - and probably many more people who've had the virus and been quite ill without ever going near a hospital.

Consiidering she is a published endocrinologyst I think she knows a thing or two considering this is a virus that attacks the immune system and the biggest problem is the bodys immune system attacking its own organs.

Yes. The early restrictions were great for safety measures. They got very lucky and Poland will be better for it. Extending them, too long though will do more damage to the country than it will help. The health ministry says they have 10,000 beds ready and 1600 ventilators on standby with another 1000 ordered. Doesnt sound like things are going to get much worse by all the information available.

It might peak and kill several thousand more, it might even kill 20.000 at some point.

But what is clear is that it won't kill a million people and I'm not going to spend months cowering in front of Polsat news with no pub and no football and no work - most people feel the same now.

We've been repeatedly told now and again that capital has no nationality. And now you say capital has a NATIONALTY.

Is it because capital has no nationality only when it is Western (North American or European) capital? But when it's Chinese or any other Third World's capital provided in big supply, it suddenly must take on a nationality?

Intermittent lockdowns are becoming normalised across the globe. Japan, Singapore. "we tried going back to normal, it didn't work! We need full lockdown again!"

My attutude towards this whole chinese flu pandemic is skeptical to say the least. That said in a light of provided data, are you trying to convince us that Germany with 130072 coronavirus cases and 3194 deaths related to it is safer than Poland with 7049 coronavirus cases and 251 deaths?

Atch I have heard well over a hundred stories from people who contracted this back in November and December and were told by the hospitals and doctors that it WAS NOT the flu but did not know what it was.

That just means that Germany with the same safety measures like Poland would have a much higher death count....or a Poland with the safety measures like Germany would have a much lower death count!

That's why China is so high up too....they have much more dead to count but remember what they did with Wuhan!
And it explains also why Israel is the leader...it's the one country in the West which is best with emergency situations, border closures and such things. (They treat the virus like a real military attack and the citizens are used to counter-terrorist measures)

If you only take the number of the victims North Korea would be "best" because they don't have any infected people there at all (or so Kim says).

OK, let's play the most popular mass media game atm and calculate it: Germany, is more or less, twice as populated as Poland. If Poland had a population comparable to Germany it would give us ~15000 (7000 actual cases x2) virus cases and ~500 deaths related to it compared to Germany's 130 000 cases and 3200 deaths.

So either German has mismanaged the "pandemia" or German immune system is much weaker than ours. I'd complement your health system by instead saying that your aging society is just more prone to infections.

You just have to bear the fact that Germany looks good in these rankings, very good! :)

A weakened immune system is what counts in all infectious diseases, but perhaps it counts more in COVID-19 disease than in common flu.

Indeed, this 'obesity' factor has been increasingly reported as important in the COVID-19 infection.


Homeopathy has been proved rubbish in numerous double-blind randomized trials. The same can be said of acupunture.

There are high comorbities with obesity, heart and lung disease and blood pressure issues. Those can be partly managed by drugs but the best drugs are better diet, exercise and fresh air.

So having the police out stopping people who are doing exercise is just idiotic.

Reducing people's access to fresh food makes no sense

I've also carried on a normal routine. I go out every day. I think it's essential for your mental and physical health and I'm beyond furious at having to start covering my face on Thursday. I think it's nonsense. However, having said that, I have made an effort to keep my distance from people, 2 metres at least, not so much because I'm worried about catching it, but because I may have it and pass it on. I don't want to add to the epidemic or be responsible for making a vulnerable person ill and ending their life.


No, they died of the virus. Yes, they would have died anyway sooner rather than later, but they contracted the virus and it killed them. The issue with this virus is not so much the fatality rate because about 80% of people will have only a mild case, it's the contagion rate which is demonstrated by the number of healthcare workers who've caught it. In Ireland 27% of all cases are among hospital staff and in the UK look at how many NHS staff have died of it, plenty of them in their thirties and forties so whilst it's not the Black Death, it's definitely more deadly than flu.

Or Poland is grossly underrepresenting the figures prior to the forthcoming dodgy 'election'.

I dont think Poland will put up with much more either. People just sitting in the park areas now and reading when the sun is out. Police not doing anything. People in power, regardless of where they are, are only in power as long as the people allow them to be. I can see a whole lot of problems coming in a lot of places.

Elections and other political time bombs in Poland now starting to get a lot of international press coverage. There will be a lot of pressure on Poland if they continue to strong arm the PiS agenda over people's health by using "health" as a scare tactic to further that agenda. Being here and watching this unfold is quite surreal. The reports I am getting from NY and Michigan, along with some other major cities are simply unbelievable.

We are watching the slow choking death of civil liberties everywhere.

The people here in Michigan just shut down the State Capitol in Lansing with the biggest rally Lansing has ever seen.
They have the roads and freeways in total grid lock going into and around the Capitol Building.
I wonder if she is getting the message yet that just because THREE of the counties that are adjacent to Black Detroit have 95% of people testing positive and dead while some Northern counties have under 5 people who tested weeks ago or no people that have tested at all..

Don't worry about civil liberties think more about ways to save your life...and the lives of others......As far as elections in Poland are concerned they should be postponed until a time when everyone can fully participate in giving their vote....lots of nonsense about the constituation and not being able to change things....these are unusual circumstances which require creative solutions....anything can be changed by the government if they have the will to do so.....
